Do get those brake sensors on at least. In practice, the pedal sensing is like half a second slow to stop engaging the motor when you stop pedaling. The brake lever sensor is an instant cutoff, so if you need to stop suddenly you'll need it. It is also a huge help for commuting if you're waiting at a stop light and pedal forward without thinking -- holding the brake will keep it from taking off. And yeah the thumb throttle is pressure sensitive, starts kind of high but goes harder the more you push.
This just proves that bikes make you feel like a kid again, adding a motor, turns you into a bigger one. You should build up your old BMX frame with this setup.
