      @@ericsmith8363 Thanks for the comment and feedback! Which Mustart model specifically are you referring to? Is Mustart coming out with a new charger?

      @@evunite1 They posted a closeup on their Facebook page on Nov 1st then on the 23rd they posted another pic of an EV charging station. Looks like it will be one that just hangs on the wall with both cables coming from the bottom. It may be one that can be hardwired but have to wait to find out more details on it.

      @@ericsmith8363 Thanks for the information! I am excited to see a new version of the Mustart charger that has both cables coming from the bottom, and I will definitely be interested to see it's specs!

    A thorough and informative presentation. You tell it like it was. You clearly explain with just the right amount of detail. Most likable is how calm and un-rushed you are. Thank you. The thing lacking a mobile app is a deal breaker. You don't wanna be going in and out of your EV, in many cases in the rain and snow, just to check how your vehicle is charging! Second, the fact that the cables come out at opposite ends of the charger, instead of both out the bottom, is a problem. But only if you mount it vertically on the wall. It works if flat on the floor like as if the whole thing is a fancy extension cable, which really is what any EV charger is. Horizontal mounting unfortunately means reading the led displays side ways on. So not so good.

    Remember the newest rules about Level 2 chargers installed in a garage, especially if you plan to sometimes run the cable outside. The rule is that you need to use a GFI breaker in your panel. It looks like he has installed only a regular breaker.

    I just bought this charger and it did not come with the mounting bracket. Do you know if they still provide that or was that just back when you did this video?

    I have the exact same, not UL listed , i have chevy volt whuch has 3.3kw 15 amp onboard charger, chrysler pacifica which has 6.6kw 30 amp onboard charger, it adjusts to receiving onboard car charger capacity flawlessly , so far no over heating when i touch the main unit while charging , i had to trade off UL listed vs best price on amazon paid 142 with a couponi sept 2022, now it is not valid and.full price is 349.

    Mine just says "unable to charge"..... even when I choose to charge at 12amps.
    It's a Mustart 26a charger, looks identical to the one in this vid. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it!

    You should unplug the j1772 (on the mustart)) from the adaptor before unplugging it hot from the car, it was under a load when you unplugged it will definitely shortens its life

    • @scotttex1054

      Quite the opposite. If you look closely @10:50 min, the green Tesla charge light is blinking indicating it is charging and under a load. He depresses the top release trigger on the J1772 handle and the light turns from green to blue and he pauses momentarily and only then withdraws the J1772 charger handle out of the Tesla charging port. The J1772 has several safety features to meet the standard for J1772, one of which is a microswitch that is activated when the locking top trigger is depressed and cancels the charge before the handle can be withdrawn.

    Does the mustart product adjust for whatever the amp your circuit has? I have a plug for a dryer that is 240 volts can I just use that?

    Could you possibly compare this charger to the Grizzl-e charger; I’m more interested in performance (40 amps), reliability and durability. Thanks!

      Glad it was helpful to you! I would recommend charging your EV to 80-90% for day commuting. If you are going on a long road trip then no issue fully charging. Like and subscribe and happy charging!

    Are you leaving the charger plugged in the whole time? Do you unplug off the 220 outlet when not in use?

    • @evunite1
      @evunite1  3 роки тому +1

      @Braulio Arias most people just keep the charger plugged into the outlet so that they are ready to go when they need to charge.

      @srinivasvoruganti4736 Рік тому

      If receiving car does not need.40 amp, it will be ok, otherwise change the breaker to 50 and make sure wiring is 8AWG or less from panel to outlet.
