I like the food mixture. Is that a daily mix? You said the garlic was only once a year? Thinking of buying a yellow canary. Need to learn lots. Owned one when I was in High School and then again years later. Haven't had one for about 25 years. Missing them. Only males sing, how do you know if you have bought a male?
My canary birds feed each others but when male start sing the female get angree n start to fight with male n they r not laying eggs what's the reason? Pls replay
The natural goodness in the fruit and vegetables compliments the preparatory egg food. As bird keepers we have a responsibility to provide a mixed diet and interest
All I care about is getting my bird. Really hard to find breeders in the States! I'd rather not buy from a big box pet store! Almost at wits end. I just want a singer who sings for me, not interested in breeding. Preferably a male mosaic. Wish me luck.
Quite probably because she's not quite in breeding condition yet, depending where you are in the world. If it's the breeding season where you are it's not unusual for hen canaries to chase the male birds when they're not quite in breeding condition.

The yellow mix is purchased as a dry mix and added to the vegetables

I have made exactly the same mix as you have suggested the birds loved it, but I had a dreaded feeling when I read that Garlic was toxic !! ?
Well, I guess once a month is safe but also mixing with other foods. Garlic juice helped my budgie with respiratory infection
When should garlic be given? Is now a good time? And is it okay for 4 month old canaries?

You can try using primrose powder but colour is bred into birds
