I'm kinda new here I've been watching on my TV for over 3 weeks now constantly lol. My grandad kept canaries for late 30s to the late 60s, he always spoke about them so purchased my first fife a few weeks back. Now I've got the bug can see why my grandad was so fond of them. I knew I was missing something in life now I know what it was... canaries lol
Glad to have you back. You are not the only one who hates cleaning cages , same goes for me too (and for most bird keepers). 😄 I use the stem of the brocolli too but not in my eggfood. I cut the stem in slices. Canaries love nibbeling on that and it keeps them busy. 🥦
A great episode... and so much to look forward to in the new year! It will be fun to watch your pairs over the months. Thank you for your time and effort. Off to clean in my bird room!!!
Hi Matt, I am a returner to the birdkeeping fancy, I must admit there are two issues that I am really brassed off with, first is the disgraceful conditions of cages when people sell birds on line. Also the sale of dirty used cages by people to idle to clean them! The second thing I note is the absolute rip off of medications, the market needs some competition rather than the cosy set up of sellers making huge mark ups. Great videos Matt, thank you.
Glad you enjoy the videos, I share your frustration on cages. The medication side is a minefield, we’re tinkerers by nature and so will always be tempted by the next big thing!
Loved it matt when you said time things an that laugh lol 😂 Hope you was masked up when cleaning out for you health mate. People will be shocked who don't own birds or just starting up the rubbish that comes out of the birdrooms an cages from a season. Looks nice an clean not that it didn't before atb for coming season keep the videos coming 😉
Hi Mat, I have a question that I am strugeling to solve, my first roud of babies went realy well, but my second round about 90% of my eggs dit not hatch, the eggs is fertile and the are in nice condition but no hatcing. Please do you have advice please
@@TheCanaryRoom ohhh OK just that I taught all birds breed in captivity must be close rung,,all birds as I mentioned to show the yr it was breed,, okie dokie 👍,,, ohh one more thing,,, it's a cracking hybrid 👍👍
A flighted bird is a bird that is over a year old, the term refers to the flight feathers (wings and tails) that a young bird doesn’t replace in its first moult

I hear some of your great singers. My male was singing to the sounds of your birds. Cool video!
Great video to start the year. I'm particularly looking forward to following the "pairs in focus" over the coming season. All the best.

Hi Matt beautifull episode lije always
Just have a question , im giving my bird egg food 4 time in a week , sude i use grog on every 4 time? Thank you
I use grog every time I feed the mixture, I find mixing it in with a batch of dry mix first helps
Cracking video Matt ,
Happy new year Matt good to have you back.
Good job 👍 👍👍👍👍🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔
Have you heard of the charcoal grit for canaries??? I just seen it come out in a pet shop. Never heard of that.
I use granulated charcoal yes
Very nice episode 👍Mat frim when yoy start too feed them grog?
Great video, thank you!
I have a question, how do you keep 1 week old canary chicks warm whose mama died?
Great video, are you planning on muling or making up a hybrid pair ?
Yep!
@@TheCanaryRoom great, can't wait to see.
Why not do a pair of Goldie’s in your new pairs in focus section , I have just started into breeding and I am starting off with Goldie’s
Could you have an episode, addressing losing chicks. I have been losing chicks and its heartbreaking and discouraging.
can u pls explain about what kind of light system u are using and time to strt on and off and about humidity in the room pls
Sure, I’ll show on a future show but it’s a full spectrum tube on a timer , i try and keep the humidity at around 70% this time of year
👍👍👍👍
hi how are you .How is it for Kanary to take a bath in winter?
Fine for them to bathe in winter, I tend to offer them in the morning
Sorry to hear about the British losses, frustrating and expensive, which is one of the reasons I stay clear of the more expensive breeds.

HI MAT, I NOTICED THAT THE GOLDIE X BULLIE HYBRID HAS NO CLOSE RUNG LEG RING ON HIM 🤔
Well spotted, as far as I’m aware, as it’s a hybrid there’s no need for it to be closed rung

When you say the bird is flighted what does flighted mean ???
