Well you got a new rebuild motor, and you finally no the real oil leak that good. Good luck on fixing that oil leak hope you do well thanks again for showing telling see ya next time see ya bye.
THANKS A LOT SIR PLEASE KEEP UP DOWLOADING URE AMAZING AND GREAT CONTENT.U JUST ARE DOING REALLY AN AMAZING USEFUL DOCUMENTATION FOR US THE AVIATORS WE ARE THANKFUL TO U
Good deal on doing the springs, I’ll do that thanks for showing telling got the same other deal to. Well watch the rest of you and maybe learn more see you later see ya bye .
With a rebuilt engine (new parts) and a tuned prop I am seeing around 3400 RPM climbout at 55 kts. Cruise is 55 kts, max airspeed in level flight is about 65 kts (VNE is 70). VW engines are known to have a slow rate of climb and mine is no different, I'd say around 300 to perhaps 500 fpm on a good day. 85+ pounds with Nikasyl cylinders. It's a good, reliable 4 stroke engine but it's on the heavy side.
Yes you bet, lapped the valves after the new guides ... but not until AFTER ran it for a little while and noticed the poor compression. Predictably, after lapping the valves the engine performance improved noticeably.

Thank you, that is very kind of you. I will continue to post updates to help my fellow aviators.

Thanks for documenting this! Because it was winter when I updated the case I did not paint it bases on your research I got lucky!
What kind of performance are u seeing with that engine/plane setup?? ...I’m seriously “thinking” about building.

Did you lap or re-seat the valves after installing and reaming the new guides?
