  • In an age when it feels like everyone has several pairs of rock shoes, each for its own special niche, there's still a lot to be said for a single shoe that does a lot of things. The Crux is just such, fitting within that 'performance all-rounder' category. It's slightly down turned, moderately asymmetric, and available in both a velcro and a lace-up, with high and low volume versions, meaning that it has the potential to fit a wide variety of feet.

    one thing I'm loving about this channel is that you guys are covering so many products that don't get any coverage. There's so much info on the more popular brands and models, and to be frank I find all of those brands to be severely lacking when it comes to my personal comfort and preferences. I think you've done a great job showing other brands and how they really are more than capable of competing with the big boys, often at a fraction of the cost. Keep it up!

    Love these reviews guys. Please take care of Rob! He does a great job on these AND he's been exceptionally diplomatic in comments sections (see the particulars on the written review on this model). Great work all!

      @@ukclimbingofficial No this is Rob's mom and he's a good boy and please take care of him (actually was just very impressed by the diplomacy in the comments - seeing communication like that can be pretty rare on the internet)

    Nice to see the shoes getting tested out in the Esoteric location of Yarncliffe Wood Boulders Rob and in particular the fine slab of 'Under Milk Wood' :0)

      How do you size them?

    • @cXilion
      @cXilion Рік тому

      @@ringgoyudistira6688 I have them very close to my normal shoe size. I would not go smaller than half a size or an entire size - at least for my foot it works well

    Interesting to make a velcro and lace model of the shoe without otherwise discernible differences. Almost every shoe on the market with a velcro or lace is quite different, and selling folks shoes I have to press back against the “oh I want velcro for easy on/off” as though this should matter for the vast, vast majority of people over performance on hold types. But then seeing there is less rubber over the toe rather than an offset rubber patch, seems like the lace is less all around for modern climbing.

      The Lace feels slightly softer

      I mean the laces them self offer some grip. Now what manufacturers should do is make a rubberized lace 😉

    good afternoon, tell me if the Boreal crux wears in a lot? How many mm does it break?

    • @ukclimbingofficial
      @ukclimbingofficial  Рік тому +1

      To an extent, it depends on how small you size them up in the first place. If they're extremely tight fitting them they'll stretch a whole lot more than if they're loose. The pair I reviewed were somewhere in between, so were definitely 'snug', and they gave a bit, but not a lot.

    I know you said they arnt the best for bouldering because of this stiffness. But what about for a begginer boulderer that maybe wants a slightly stiffer shoe? Thanks for any help :)

      For what it’s worth, I’ve used them for bouldering a lot and have really liked them. It’s not necessarily what they’re best at, but they’re still really good at it - particularly on more edgy rock types. As for being a beginner and requiring more support, I’m never sure whether that statement still stands as many are now favouring softer shoes indoors, but outdoors - on edges - I still think there’s a benefit to a supportive pair of shoes.
