Anthony Edwards is the next great superstar and being in a mid-market Minnesota team might actually make his swagger more tolerable for a national audience. It's not a small market team like Cleveland or OKC, it's also a bit of a blank slate with no deep-rooted rivalries. Also Minnesota could be the team that switches conferences with expansion which could add a bit more interest if they are making deep playoff runs as he ages into his prime. The NBA can constantly force Minnesota into any timeslots that they need for whatever marketing purpose they're trying to achieve and not get the same blow-back as they'd get for a major team on the east coast or west coast. I personally think it’s a weird case where the NFL product has just gotten worse and worse and the NBA product has gotten better and better but the ratings are flipped for the two.
NBA product getting better and better is EXTREMELY subjective. The skill level may be better than ever before, but the on court product and redundant style of play has frustrated if not turned off the interest for many fans.
It's just a function of the schedule. NFL games are more rare, essentially one day a week. It's a ritual. NBA games are on every night. If they switched, the ratings would switch.
Guys get rebound -> Run down the court -> Stop and shoot 3. That is the entirety of the NBA product. You want to make the NBA interesting, take away the 3-point line again.

Don’t hate on the Bananas.
Simmons is back
Icked me to death with: "the Netherlands is the same as Sweden"
You are grown ass man that just used ick...
I know I sound like a small child wondering into an advanced economics discussion but is any consideration given to the fact that TNT has been a loyal and valuable partner for nearly 40 years?
I know what the current property is, I can't guarantee that ESPN hits the same criteria. Just on the "Inside the NBA" show alone how long do we have before Stephen A takes over the Shaq part or just pops on mid-sentence? Also, their broadcast teams just aren't as good.
@@jackjbrewster7799 they mention the fact that everyone at tnt who has long relationships with the league was fired by the new wb executive zaslow, which is why the nba in turn felt no loyalty toward them in the negotiation
Ohh they will def push to get a black woman on the show...
I root for whatever keeps sports on cable. The only inevitability of these mergers is that paying customers get fucked over.
Fuck your MAX and your Netflix and your Amazon Prime, I want to turn the TV on and see the game.
Oh look at me in the comments- I know my geography
Bill needs to ballwash the NBA's garbage product some more.
Love to see 🇺🇸's knowledge of geography. Netherlands are the same as Sweden, right?
Somebody has to do a 30 for 30 on the Process 76ers and the net effect over the last decade. That place is one big soap opera.
Working title: The COLLAR is fine!
Jon Faverau is into basketball now? Really versatile fellow..
This isn't about the NBA-TNT breakup. It's about a bunch of minutae about media corporations.
For your information 😂 Northern countries : Denmark,Finland,Sweden,Norway,iceland !
Other night at pub quiz, the Q was what country is new miss universe? And I can’t remember which but I got it down to five!
Dude, States need to give green cards for all geography teachers from Mexico
Belloni needs to get closer to the camera I can barely see him
Why is Matt Bologna so far away from his camera? Kyle please get the tiktok camera closer.
I am listening and I am not getting anything out of this conversation 😅
David Zaslav thought the nba needed him and played hardball with them
Ya thats what bill said months ago
Shaq needs a new contract as well after this season.
NBA Countdown was at its best when Bill Simmons & Jalen Rose were on.
Malika Andrews is like watching paint dry 😒
Americans discussing geography is the funniest shit ever
If we can get Kevin Harlan, Reggie Miller and Stan Van Gundy off of NBA games I’m all in favor of Warner losing the NBA…
^ The truth about sports betting
“If they spin off HBO, what do they have?” Money, Bill … they’d have money. Maybe HBO goes lunar, maybe they drown in a sea of legitimately fantastic content … maybe at $/mo, HBO is behind on viable volume, if ahead on prestige …
blue hat guy is annoying
Did buddy really say Poland was a Nordic country
I feel better not knowing ball. At least I know what a Nordic country is.
Mark my words: ESPN will ruin the show
Something is wrong with Bill's eye. Hope he's ok.
I'm disappointed in these guys. Both completely forgot Italy is one of the Nordic countries.
What is he hiding behind that close up?
@@Riles3152 redundant style of play? buddy either just blatantly say your bad faith or admit your 12 years old
@@GabaGhoul10 never gonna happen, keep crying
Latin America is not Brazil
They speak Portuguese
whars up with the guests barney face in the thumbnail, unnerving!
You gotta fire this Belloni guy if you’re Simmons don’t you? He’s supposed to be the smart insider and he just spent 40 minutes sounding about as dumb as a human being possibly can. If he’s this ignorant on so many topics how you can trust anything he has to say?
What are the topics he's ignorant about, knowing names of irrelevant countries and what else?
@@Maximilian1990Spoken like a true American.
@@GabaGhoul10still waiting to hear the part where he's ignorant on something relevant
@@Maximilian1990 He didn't even know about the countries that were in the negotiations he was talking about. Having a basic grasp of geography for someone thats supposed to know about world businesses would be a good start. He's on spotify... ... ... which is based out of one of the countries he confuses in this pod. It's also a part of the deal he was asked to speak about. Completely egregious performance. Bill should have had a conversation with someone who knew what the heck they were talking about. He also didn't know about the important latin american countries in the deal. He is such an American cliche.
