Greetings from Germany. As a german i am able to explain that who ever wrote the Epsiode "Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk" did a grammar mash up and error. to get the Right simplified Title with correct Gramma it would be "Burns Verkauft Das Kraftwerk" we in germany got first 3 words for the word "The" which gonna be "Der". "Die" and "Das" which also you have to know when to use on of it, as example you say The Sun, The Ball, The Table and the Boat. We say Die Sonne (Female) Der Ball (Male) Der TIsch (Male) and Das Boot (Item or neutral). and Kraftwerk is Neutral but that error does the most. Verkaufen and Verkauft are used to say Sale/Sold and Sell. Verkauft means Sale and sold but Verkaufen means more like I want to sell. there aren't much ways to use the Core word verkaufen. I hope i was understandable and you could learn a bit about it.
In The Simpsons guy the Family Guy and The Simpsons crossover episode one might suggest the Simpsons do see themselves as white because Homer Simpson described the Griffin family as albino.
If he marries your mother, Marge, we'll be brother and sister! And then, our kids, they'll be horrible freaks with pink skin, no overbites and five fingers on each hand!
Found this channel yesterday and I’ve binged so many videos that help reignite my love for the show. I was pleasantly surprised to see the new video today!
Oh, I had the DVDs, too, but I haven't listened to all the commentaries. I listened to some more than others. I love that they talk over certain moments, but in the Cape Feare one, Matt interrupts Al and Jon when the rakes scene comes on, saying "Stop, stop, we gotta talk about this". Then in Season Eight, Josh Weinstein's kids were in two commentaries. The daughter sounded very enthusiastic with her "Hello!" both times. I also remember them saying that there's a certain amount of failure in everything Lisa takes on, but what makes them love her is that she keeps trying.
Not really a Simpsons fact, but it's interesting how Elton was also on South Park just 4 months before, also performing a song, albeit an original one.
The episode 'Brother can you spare two dimes' is a parody of a song from The Great Depression by Bing Crosby. Mr Burns sings this song drunkenly in the power plant alone.
About the German ban of Cape Feare: The episode was banned not only because of the Nazi reference, but also because the German television considered the episode far too disturbing at the time. There were also some other episodes in the 90s (most of them are THOH episodes) which also aired much later due to certain content/scenes.
🐌Funnily enough, I just watched a video about that McDonald's Olympic failure - McDonald's had used stats from the 1976 Olympics to influence the chosen events since the US had boycotted Moscow '80 due to the Afghan war. Great stuff Lyds. I admire you, I wouldn’t have the dedication for all this. You’re like the sister I never had, if I had one I’d want her to be just like you. 💛 I think that’s the reason I’m so fond of you and your work. Oh, and James. Not to forget his work too. The early episodes are fascinating to me because of how much Lisa changed in particular. From a naughty little girl who’d look out to cause trouble, to a girl who wouldn’t but would gleefully relish an opportunity if Bart gave it to her, to now, well behaved but she’ll be a bit silly on occasion. Any moment where she and Bart are just having fun together is wonderful. If you don’t mind me asking, how well behaved were you when you were Lisa’s age? You seem like you may have been okay but a bit mischievous, or maybe that’s just me hoping you were. 😁 That said I’m not a fan of Bart VS Lisa where Bart is the villain and wins, so I’ve never liked the subplot in Duffless, though it’s almost worth it for the Herman’s Head joke, and I despise My Sister My Sitter because it’s not Bart playing tricks on Lisa (which I’m fine with), it’s him being actively cruel to her, which I’m very much not fine with. Dan Greeney is a writer who I have a love-hate relationship with, he’s good at writing Homer and Marge, not so much Bart VS Lisa. Although I do love the one he wrote with you and James invading! Also very pleased to see Beetlejuice footage when you mentioned Cathrine O Hara, must watch that again before Beetlejuice 2 comes, just one month to go and then… “IT’S SHOWTIME!” By the way, if you do make that Beetlejuice video for me, if you make a timeline, good luck trying to get the cartoon to fit, it’s completely different! 59:50 "all singing, all dancing" is one of the only episodes where a prediction occurs in the credits, this being the prediction of phil hartmans death, with one of the first gunshots ringing out on his name.
I'm not sure it counts as a prediction unless it's literally The Simpsons saying something explicitly. Like, if a character literally said word-for-word "Phil Hartman's gonna get shot" then okay, but if you count implications like this, then you start getting into Nostradamus "look for something that fits" levels. :P
@@Idran true, but look at the 9/11 references from a few episodes prior. It wasn’t called out or pointed out by a character it was just there before it had a bigger implication only a few years later.
