There are riders and there are dreamers. Haelena is a dreamer. When Alicent told Aemond that he will have a dragon, Haelena says "He'll have to close an eye".
Yeah, he becomes Aemond the one-eyed right?

Why do you spoil it?
Larys is arguably worse than Littlefinger; Littlefinger, for all his misdeeds, never killed blood relatives (well, that we know of). And his speech at the end of the episode is a deeply disturbing insight into his psyche. He's as nihilistic as it gets. Very dangerous guy.
Him and Daemon have a lot in common.
@@lukaszzylik4437 how ?
Agreed. I said this before but Alicent needs to do something about him. He just did it without specific orders.
She or someone else could be next. Littlefinger screwed up everything until he was caught.
@@tombstone9976 they both killed family for power.
Great breakdown. Nevertheless, justice Ned Stark! Justice for Tyrion!
I think the children were like literally color coded. All of alicents kids wear green for hightower.
Indeed, as far as I know, the color code is very important in the book, that's why in the show they created the dialog and the very explicit scene of Alicient's green dress in episode 5, just in case we didn't notice the importance of color changes in Alicients dresses on episodes 1 to 4. Also I read the rats have a figurative importance, that's why they appear every episode, it's some sort of a wink from the producers to the people who read the books, but don't know what.
Also they made the colour coding so evident last episode with Alice the entering the feast. The seeds were planted before.
Arguably the queens children could also be redheads, cause queen herself is redhead. Isn't it?
@@krinjon193 ig the silver hair gene is a dominant one, dormant-ing the redhead one.
@@advait35 when and how is that established in the show?
Daemon maybe an egocentric and maniac in his days, but he'll never harm his own family, yet Larys did it without any remorse, looks like Viserys's so-called plague isn't his brother, but his wife's Littlefinger
didn’t he murdered his wife?
@@mermaidonwheels the wife he didn't choose himself isn't exactly a family for Daemon

Yea it's so simple logic right. Jaby started thinking of it as a cult and related to sparrow from GOT 😂😂
Can't they just write down what they know? They can at least learn to write
@@fikilemkhize5776 They're peasants, they likely aren't literate, and they can't learn from just anyone. It'd probably take years just to learn enough to communicate what Larys has done.
27:16 he did make a decision, he looked at that man and shook his head slightly telling him no to opening his wife up
I noticed that as well. Glad someone mentioned that part of the scene. He made the opposite choice his brother made.
The only positive in this episode was Daemon. And how although he didnt love his wife atleast he respected her and may be he love his daughters also.. Every character in HOD is so grey
Very astute. People not paying attention can easily think the worst of Daemon, but what is his greatest virtue? He LOVES his family. He doesn't have to be in love with his wife to love the mother of his children. Clearly they have a strong friendship and affection for each other. Also note another detail in the 2 birthing scenes. When the physicians each tells Daemon and his brother the prognosis, note that Visarys asks if the CHILD will live while Daemon asks if the MOTHER will.
Laena's death was just so sad, such a great character, loving, caring...and then choosing to die prematurely due to complications. The scene really crushed me, especially Vhagar's hesitation, killing ysomeone you have bonded with. It's even sadder that now Daemon has lost someone he really loved and his daughters lost their mother. Man, she died too soon :(
no 💀
What else do you think happens to good people on this show? Driving off the sunset?
Achara raised a good question, why did Corlys let his daughter marry Daemon. He could've been covering his bets. Viserys has two heirs: Rhaenyra and Daemon. Aegon is Viserys' first-born son but Corlys supports Rhaenyra being heir because he supported his wife, The Queen That Never Was, being heir. Since Corlys isn't small-minded to think only males can be heir, then he's covered all his bases to ensure the Valeryons will be on the Iron Throne, if not name then by blood.
"Achara raised a good question, why did Corlys let his daughter marry Daemon"
Well, presumably Daemon had a really good relationship with them after fighting a whole War on their side. Although we haven't seen any scenes with Daemon and Corlys since then.
Remember that scene when Corlys was talking with Daemon about the stepstones , that's when they started their some sort of alliance + Corlys and Daemon was fighting in the stepstones, so maybe Corlys is just letting daemon marry her because it's like a thanks for the war against the triarchy
I think Corlys has had enough of Viserys..so i low key ploting against him know..so his best bet was to close the union with Damon..even dough later on he may have to take Damon out too...but for now Damon close by his family's side is were he needs Damon to be...that is why.
@@awesimo4684 Yeah I was gonna say. I'd assume that Daemon asked for Corlys' daughter's hand as a reward for joining him to fight in the Stepstones.
I think they eloped actually. Am not sure they asked anyone for permission to marry 🤔

@Supriya Mukherjee And the King is going to bring back Otter? I doubt it but I need to get caught up on the book. I'm way behind.
@@jxchamb Otter 😂
I think the lactation scene has to do with the marriage proposal that she was making: she’s looking out for her children by trying to make peace. In contrast, Alicent violently shook her son onto the path of war, which can only harm them all in the end.
Each thinks she is doing what is right for her children, but only Rhenaera was sent the true sign of motherhood from the Mother (to put it in Westerosi terms).
Daemon's wife was going to die in childbirth just like vesary's wife was going to die anyway before they even cut her open.
I do believe the lactation was to symbolize the fact she cannot control everything. She knows her father's time is coming to an end. A reminder of, "No matter what you do, you are still a woman. The crown and leadership has always gone to a man. You are playing your part. As your mother had told you years earlier, your role is to continue your bloodline." She was trying to be a nontraditional woman like Arya. But ended up being the traditional lady of the realm. Of which, I do believe she was embarrassed by.
With the scene of Prince Aemond ..."doing his business," It's showing the double standard. He's a boy who has everything handed to him and is expected to be immature. He's expected to do all the things that Rhineira wanted to do at his age. He can have the freedoms to do what he wants. While she had to grow up and do what is best for the realm.
Daemon fought with Corlys in the Stepstones, that's why he allowed Daemon to marry Laena
I need a Daemon and Laena spin-off show showing their life during the time skip cuz SHE WAS TAKEN FROM US TOO SOON
That series won't last longer than one episode because not many interesting things happened in that 10 years except Daemon winning her hand in marriage.

@@darkmagician7388 Well Daemon actually kills a Braavosi sea captain that was promised to her before winning her hand in the book, so that could have been something we saw, yet they decided not to show that for some reason.
@@GoliathWarfare Yes like I said that's the only interesting thing happened in that period. Dude was asking for a spin off. I said it will last one episode at most.
@@darkmagician7388 Oh okay, I do feel like we could have benefited from one more episode to flesh out Laena and Harwin so it would feel more emotional about their deaths. Here, they just service their respective partners.
Laena was played by three different actresses in 6 episodes, with the oldest version only in one. It's hard to connect with a character that changes so drastically, so fast.
Something that also really took me out of it was the eldest actress had a slight accent compared to the rest of them that wasn't the characters British accent. But that is nitpicking, for sure. Just something that I noticed that broke immersion, for me.
@@AnxietyRat It probably would have gone a lot better if they just aged up the actress that played her. I understand that it would be weird given they changed the other actresses. But that was definitely the reason I was taken out of it. As a matter of fact, I think 2 of the actresses that played her were only in one episode a piece.

I could digest Laena's death but couldnt get through Harwin's. Wished to see him fight with Criston Cole a bit of times later.

The hesitation/confusion was relayed so well by the dragon's face and body language. I felt worse for her having to burn her rider, than about laena's death tbh (as bad as that sounds).
@@goodboygaming1473 It is indeed too soon. I expected him to grow into spotlight but his growth was nipped from the bud.

Lots of theories about Larys. Could be much more than he appears. He has the blood of the first men through his House and seems to have an unnatural awareness of what is going on in the Red Keep. A cripple with strange abilities who lived close to the Isle of Faces? The rats we keep seeing could also be important, as is the Weirwood. I wonder if this show is going to go there with Larys Strong.
In the lore of of the whole Game of Thrones universe, Larys is said to be one of the most mysterious characters there was. Not in terms of his persona, like Melysandre for example, but more so regarding his reasons for doing what he does. He goes down in history as someone nobody could piece together. Why did he do what he did? What was his true goal? Where were his true loyalties?
Possibly is he warging through the rats
@@remyberry4582 Yes, he's one of the biggest enigmas in the whole saga. As they put it, "The last Strong kept his secrets."

They deleted a few scenes of Daemon comforting his daughter after Laena death and it would have really gone a long way in showing that daemon truly cares about and loves his family(Laena and their two daughters) more than anything. I don’t why they cut it but you can find the stills on twitter
As re daemon and Laena in the books it’s different it said that he saw her and feel in love but because she was engaged to the son of a sea lord from Bravos he basically provoked him into getting into a duel with him then killed him, eloped, married and basically flew away with her to tour Essos and lentos where they had their twins then came back and settled on driftmark. In the books they are very much in love and they live on driftmark and regularly go and meet Rhaenyra and laenor who live on dragonstone(the islands are very close to each other and they are all dragon riders) also in the books I think they say he has a strong relationship with his daughters.
@@DonHbankz I much prefer Daemon and Laena's relationships in the book.
They're taking his character a different route than what it is in the books clearly. It's kind of annoying tbh because his character doesn't need that, he's already very well written and extremely complex
I haven’t even read the book but I’m kinda sad with the changes they’re taking with Daemon’s character. Like Rhaenyra could still be his endgame but he could still have respect for his wife and family. The show Daemon is too extreme with directly causing his first wife to die and not showing much empathy to his wife and daughters.

In the book there are various huge time jumps too, in that aspect this series is very much close to the books.
Larys' actor is doing amazing job. I'm more terrified of him than Ramsey.
Bc with Ramsey we know he was just a crazy guy, yes Larys is crazy but we don't actually know his agenda. Hope this isn't too SPOILERY but even in the books nobody knows wtf is up with Larys. Hopefully the show explores that
Idk how thats possible, Ramsey did far worse
Interestingly, the books don't tell us how the fire at Harrenhal started.
They also didn't include a scene of Daemon hugging his daughters after Laena 's death.
I didn’t realize about the recast until minute 40 where they finally said it’s been 10 years
they deleted the scene of daemon compforting his daughters for some reason but he is a good dad in the books atleast
1)Larys freed the crimnals on a condition to cut their tongues so that they won't tell some important information to the Rhyneras group.
2)Layna Velarian would rather die by her Dragon than the blade opening her guts to give birth the baby.

She's correct about how Daemon treats his daughters and about what was happening with Laena's birthing scene.
And about how touching/sad the scene of the dragon hesitating/being confused by the command was.
I really liked the edit of your conversation
Before little finger there was a middle finger 😂
Larys cut out the prisoners' tongues coz he wanted them to be silenced and never betray him. Basically, he's building his own gang from now on.
In my own opinion Daemon is only paying attention to Baela because she's more of a fighter than Rhaena (from the books Baela is more like a fighter then Baela is more feminine) so I'm guessing daemon just love her other daughter more and they don't look like twins so I'm guessing they also changed that (and Book Daemon does love both his daughters and wife , they also often visit Rhaenyra in Dragonstone, these three are very close almost like a poly relationship)
Laena's dragonrider death, in Fire & Blood: she wanted to ride Vhagar one last time but she died on the way up the tower, never making it to Vhagar.
Kinda annoyed that wasn't the case and they didn't show how Rhaenyra was with Laena :/

Wtf, she had to walk all the way to their room to show the baby, right after she gave birth? How could they be so cruel?
Well technically Allicent wanted to see the baby. A servant could’ve brought the infant to her. Rhaenyra being the badass she is, decided to do it herself. It wasn’t very smart, but it was a power move.
Alicent wanted to see the baby, a maid could've done the job

I think the time jump works perfect, we don't really need all of the in-between from the last 10 years, it's just mostly filler. Also with this being a 10 episode season it treats the first season like a two Act play. Episodes 1-5 are Act 1. Episodes 6-10 are Act 2. It feels like it's the start of the second half of an epic story about to get way darker.
And next episode is going to be the All is Lost moment. Looking forward to it
They give no time to actually care about any of these characters or spend any time actually building their relationships, those things aren't filler, they're important. Harwin is seen like 3 times, no build up to his character or his relationship with Rheanyra, 10 years later they have kids together randomly, then dies as if anyone is supposed to care or even remember.
@@VColossalV They give plenty of time to care about these characters. You're complaining about one character. This show isn't about these characters relationships. Darwin Strong, eldest son of the hand of the king, heir to the seat of Harrenhaal. He was a regular attender of court. He was with the royal hunt on Aegons second name day. He joined the city watch shortly after that. He was the one who ran into Rhaenyra in King's Landing in the city. It was well established that Rhaenyra had sought out a whore for herself as her husband is gay and they set up an arrangement. Ser Criston Cole refused to be that whore.
We don't need to see every little detail as to how and why Harwin became Rhaenyra's whore. It's not important to the overall plot - which is civil war. It's just filler. It's no different than a King having whores like Robert did, and he had many, we never got to know any of them, just that a lot of them had kids. And the only thing that mattered about those characters were the kids and that was it. The parents (whores) served no other purpose to the story.
As for no build up, they spend the whole hour building up his character as this super likeable guy only to burn him alive at the end.
@@VColossalV Agreed. Guy showed up out of nowhere. It's very jarring. No, I haven't read the books. You shouldn't have to in order to understand a show, or if you do, that means that's a failure on the show's part. And the changing actors really doesn't help.

Haven’t read Fire & Blood so don’t tell me if this is a known thing, but Larys being a cripple makes me wonder if he has the Sight. George loves to have poetic parallels to the Song of Ice & Fire, and I wonder if Larys is a combined representation of many characters including Bran. He clearly has some Littlefinger, Varys, Tyrion qualities to him with how well he navigates the Game, but he plays it at a level that could be assisted by magic.
Leanor is quarter Baratheon (Rhaenys's mother is a Baratheon) and Rhaenyra is quarter Arryn (Aemma's father is an Arryn), so they do have dark haired/non-white haired ancestors which can be used as an excuse for the hair color (and skin color is even more complicated - it's not uncommon for someone with one dark skinned grandparent to be born extremely light skinned, even if three in a row is stretching it)
Yeah…that’s not how the show is doing it. You see Daemon’s daughters with Laena. Rhaenyra’s boys should kind of resemble them but it is obvious they do not. The show is very explicit on this. The Strong boys are bastards. There is no amount of mental gymnastics the audience can do to refute that fact.
I agree with jaby about cole
HAHAHAHA! 10:20. Yall made the same joke! 😆😆😆
Jaby you need to have a good sleep and then rewatch this episode.
"Not if Rhaenyra can help it" - yeah she will help by being the king's dragonfood.
Did you know Aegon Targaryen, Viserys and Alissa's firstborn son is being played by Ty Tennant, David Tennant's son?
you need to let her talk instead of being so insecure about your own opinions
Jaby 😂🤣😂😂😂🤣🤣. "I didn't know whose kids those are"... you goofy
I love tired Jaby
Harwin will come back....i can assure this....his last words I'll come back.
.
Jaby's opinions about so many things of this episode is so weird, it seems like he didn't understand anything of it haha
The children are divided by hair colour, colours of their clothes and by age, how can someone be confused there?!
And I think we saw Aegon jerk off standing in the window to display his privileged arrogance, he is so arrogant and spoiled that he doesn't even care if anyone could see him, on the contrary, he likes the feeling that he can do that and no one can do shit about it.
+Martinbumms
Basically, he's like a non-powered Homelander
I’m watching this because I had so many questions too. My mind can’t do the character changes….
I wish they had given Rhaenys her book canon hair. She is also a Baratheon and has black hair. That makes Rhaenyra’s children having darker hair more excusable because Laenor’s mother is a black haired Targaryen.
Spoilers for Fire and Blood if you want to read the book don't read this comment regarding Laena and Daemon.
Also, due to the 10 year time jump we unfortunately skipped over all of Daemon and Laena getting together but at least the seeds were sewn in the previous episodes. So in the book it's suggested that Daemon only married Laena for his ambition.
In previous episodes it was mentioned that she was betrothed to the son of the Sealord of Braavos.
In the books during the time we skipped over in the show here, the Sealord passes away and Lena's betrothal goes to Driftmark and Lord Corlys constantly postpones the marriage.
Daemon arrives in Driftmark and constantly insults the Sealords son baiting him into a fight where he kills him. Laena and Daemon then marry within a fortnight.
Laena and Daemon have twin girls and do go to Pentos like they do in the show and that's where we catch up with them.
Her death is way different in the books though. She gives birth to a malformed boy who dies within the hour and she becomes exhausted from the birth and overwhelmed with grief and then childbed fever sets in and she's sick for three days. She tries to make it to Vhagar to ride the dragon one last time but collapses before she ever makes it and dies.
Her death scene is way more improved in the show in my opinion and suits the narrative being told in this episode.
Skipped over Rhaenyra and Harwin too, this show isn't good at actually showing relationships build or connections being formed, it just happens randomly out of nowhere. Laena and Harwin Strong, both dead by the end of the episode. Laena changed actresses twice, all 3 only seen one episode each. Harwin spoke about 3 lines in 3 episodes and then dies, why should anyone care? No time to care about these characters, no time to care about their relationships.
@@VColossalV This show is doing a great job at showing relationships of the characters this show is about.
You're not supposed to care about Harwin Strong. He barely exists in the books just as he did on the show. He's the whore Ser Criston Cole refused to be, and he dies the exact same way in the book.
Slight change from the book is that Harwin goes to Dragonstone to continue being her whore for another few years and Prince Aemond one day calls her sons Strongs which prompts Viserys to send Harwin to Harrenhaal away from Rhaenyra to which he then dies in the fire along with his father.
All we missed were years of whoring we didn't need to see.
The only thing that matters about Harwin's character is the fact that he is the baby daddy of those 3 little bastards and the severe consequences that come with that. And that was 100% very well established in the episode. And he dies as a result of it. Because that's it. That's all we need from his character. He does not need to exist outside of that. He doesn't exist outside of that in the books and there's no need to stretch him out in the show.
Same thing with Laena. She barely existed in the books also. She served no real purpose to this story. There is no real relationship between her and Daemon, only a political one of his ambition, which has been established since the first episode that he is ambitious, and continues to be ambitious every single episode. So we don't need episodes dragging out his relationship with her when it's yet another part of his ambition.
Don't know what the changing of the actresses has to do with it, you can feel emotion for a character after a single episode.
Not really sure what is you're upset here. Like you're upset you didn't get to know a character more before they died? Because I'd start getting used to it if that's your issue. Lot's of characters are going to die, characters we've known for a long while, and characters we hardly knew. There's going to be lots of it.
This show has done a fantastic job at building relationships between the characters who all matter and has done a fantastic job at quickly establishing relationships between characters every time actors change while still feeling like they're the same character from before
Jaby didn't take his vitamins today hahahaha j/k peace bro
19:44 we all are thinking the same thing.. 😂
6:57 oh yea he does xD
