Are you feeling sad 😢that you’ll never see these great musicians again? Please share your favourite one with us
You conveniently skipped out all the other Grace Slick music which makes the timeline wrong. She continued performing and making hits with Jefferson Starship and Starship (in the 80s'!) before she retired. Get your act together.
Obviously dead artists wont be seen again.
not in the flesh - except cloned Elvis & Peter Gabriel (-killed by the angry crowd at Reading 78 Festival after pretending to be punk by playing fast versions of his songs dressed as a skinhead construction worker) whom climbed back out of his coffin in 1982 to resume life first by playing drums for Phil Collins then being an African for his 4th & pop star for his 5th albums. He allegedly still survives in the glorious countryside - literally next door to Camilla Parker Bowles’ family farm . She looks dead but it’s not preventing her from being pretty important in England 🐢
Grace quit after Surrealistic Pillow?! Yeah, SURE & she wasn’t in Jefferson Starship or Starship either. GEESH!!!
Grace didn’t quit, she was canned.
Yeah, a BIG WTF on that one. ?
I thought the same thing
Yes She Was
Yup, he whiffed on this one.
Yes I'm sad when I waste my time on inaccuracies about many people I've never heard of and wrong information on the people I do.
Lots of wrong information in this video, Inc Captain Beefheart didn’t quit music at the end of the ‘60s, CLEARSPOT my fav album of his was released in 1972. He was active in the music scene till 1982.
when Crimsom played at Fillmore East, we were so awestruck, the played the entire album and we kinda just sat there and absorbed---when they got to the end we erupted in astonishment, it was something one cannot forget
Your favourite memory?
@@VintageTVShows how we sad so quietly and then the eruption at the end sticks out
2:05 She went on to the Band Starship.
Saw her in 88
Last I heard Stevie Nicks is in Phoenix AZ
Nothing last forever. But the music.
Agree!
Which one is your favourite musician?
@@VintageTVShows way to many to name one.
Wouldn’t exactly call Rap or Hip Hop “music”. Entertainment, yes, but not music.
Grace Slick was so pretty!
The commentator of this doesn't know what he is talking about, this needs reported and dismissed as total nonsense.
The bits on Jeff Skunk Baxter, Dan Spitz, Bill Berry and Cindy Birdsong are as cool as hell. Talk about amazing and diverse changes! Kate Bush' return to live performance was an absolute dream for all of us Old Crusties. I'm immensely glad that they took so much care to capture the performances in such divine clarity. PS., if your intention was to imply that these artist quit music after the seminal albums you mentioned then I have a few annoying and "who asked you?" issues. Beefheart has at least 10 more albums after TMR. Grace Slick was on Jefferson Starship and Starship albums, so obviously she didn't step aside after Pillow. [okay] Wow... Neil Peart? The professor and holiest of time-keepers has passed away, unfortunately, which means that - yes - we will never see him again. Strange addition to this list, unless we are accepting Death (and the time leading toward a "knowing" Death) as a form of Retirement, which seems a bit macabre to me, but hey, who am I, right? I took my daughter to that final Rush tour (Rush is her favorite band) and I will forever cherish the memory. I bless Neil every time I'm writing, sweating over an intricate lyric. On to Phil Collins... [I'm sure no one's still reading this, but what the hell] ... As a drummer I am one of Phil's truest fans (from Genesis to Brand X to Robert Plant) and his Pop sensibilities made the group a LOT of money (although I quit being a real fan after Duke in '80). The final tour was SO sad to witness. Tony and Mike had to transpose all of the songs WAY down so that Phil could hit the notes, and even then he couldn't pull it off. It was like watching a formerly great boxer reduced to doing something like George Foreman did in Toronto in '75. I'm still trying to scrub that out of my memory. ☮
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
Phil was such a great talent. Genesis wouldn't be what it is without his drumming. Brand X also showcases drumming prowess.
What most people don't realize is that the greatest musicians don't want the pomp and circumstance. The greats would rather be in the club versus in the stadium.
As a BIG Queen fan, I miss Deaky and his bass lines. Also I miss Phil Collins, and was lucky enough to see him and Genesis’s farewell tour. They are the memory maker’s of my younger life, and all the emotions that it brought.
Which one was your favourite?
Bill Berry’s unibrow is insane!
I was really sad when Bill Withers gave up. His music was warm and human. Hope he is resting peacefully.
yes ....
Dan Spitz put together a solo project back in 2010 Red Lamb or something like that, he had it until a few years ago
I love the entry on Cindy Birdsong. I read her first exit from The Supremes was due to her pregnancy. The second time had to do with Mary Wilson’s manager/husband involvement in the group. Regardless of group politics, Supreme fans LOVE Cindy. Thank you for this!
You like Cindy?
@@VintageTVShows Absolutely. Wonderful singer and performer (and those who know her says she brightens every room).
You forgot Robert Fripp colaboration with David Sylvian.
My bad
@zorannikolic3823
During the 1980’s, Fripp also collaborated with Andy Summers, and they released two albums.
Stevie Nicks isn't touring anymore??? She's touring the UK soon!!!
She's already announced tour dates for 2024.
Stevie Nicks was just in Dallas with Billy Joel,Mickey Thomas is still touring. And there’s a new video of Steve Perry shopping at a grocery store with gf..thnx
Just saw Stevie Nicks, on tour, just a few months ago.
Yes Phil Collins hats off i saw you once dueling drums variah lights i could cry and we would all love to stay young Forever . Alas we cannot .l.o.l.
I had a copy of Trout Mask Replica, which I thought sounded like some people banging aimlessly on some garbage cans. I tried to sell it to a used record shop for a dollar, but the guy didn't want to buy it. Eventually, he caved and bought it for a buck. Awful junk.
David Bowie, ‘B side’ early 70’s, Yes and Peter Frampton, Led Zeppelin, Renaissance.
This bands were the real musicans ever!
Which one do you like the most?
Just seen Stevie Nicks live last year and going to see her again this summer
Your favourite?
@@VintageTVShows You weren't asking me, but Stevie is my brother's forever crush. He adores Stevie Nicks and sees her every chance he gets. I'll be seeing her this summer. She's still amazing!
Never say never. Stevie Nicks has already announced tour dates for 2024. So....
Soooo???
neil peart
Captain Beefheart always was a painter.
All these scenarios seem weird but it seems fitting that he would go into watchmaking
didn't they have a song about time lol
I was going to post the same. Jefferson Starship, anyone?
yep Stevie was on tour in 2024
Grace Slick had one of the strongest voices around.
Your favourite?
Hate to see them go.
There are plenty more musicians who should join this group.
next time for sure
Grace's reason for quitting the music business is kinda stupid. It's not like other, younger musicians wouldn't have been successful had she not retired 🙄Plus she didn't leave the music business after Jefferson Starship.
Rocket & Roll...
Most of those ppl have more than 1 job.
Captain Beefheart played with Zappa long after that.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
this narrator is so annoying, over the top, cliche after cliche, but somehow still delivered in such a monotone way that its hard to listen to...
Skunk is a master in a few different areas beyond music
What you like the most?
@@VintageTVShows i saw him talk about wavelengths and how they correspond to both sound and color
Ozzy Osbourne - He always got the Crowd Going CRAZY!
I don’t know why people are so surprised. These people were intelligent. How do you think they got famous in the first place?
Stevie nicks is touring right now2024
Roberta Flack 😥
Your favourite?
@@VintageTVShows Personal friend and former boss.
@@Jamaicafunkshe was always such a great vocalist
@@manny4552 You better believe it.
John Deacon is my fav.

Stevie nicks is touring right now
Thanks for sharing yoour thoughts 🙂
neil peart unless you can resurrect him
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
4:05 Hès Dead.
I would have liked to hear the music than listening to a A.I. blabbing!
ITS PRONOUNCED.....PEERT!!!! FFS...
Dinosaur here, 60+ years and still on tour, my favorite genius, Bob Dylan. And I still can't get enough. Would love to meet him if only to speak of highways and Willberries.
What do you love the most about him?
@@VintageTVShows The poetry in his stories. And the legends in life we don't realize at the time.
People like you with lack of knowledge of the subject matter shouldn't be doing videos. Grace Slick didn't quit after the album Surrealistic Pillow, she also stayed with the band Jefferson Airplane when they changed their name to Jefferson Starship, and The Starship with songs such as Miracles, and We built this city and eventually did get into painting instead of singing. I stopped watching this misinformed youtube video after I saw he has no clue what he's talking about.
people like him with such an annoying voice and pathetic delivery should not be doing videos either.... I sat through the whole thing just to get to Phil Collins, didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, and now I've got a headache from 30 mins listening to this guys droning
what a load of bs beefheart did some of his best work right up to the 80's doc at the radar station shiny beast bat chain puller same as with grace slick she was in the music scene with starship uh miracles waste of time VINTAGE TV IS CRAP
Love you Stevie
Too much damn talking
Why do you think so?
Most of the cliches used here, are also long forgotten gems.
Some are totally fried, cant make $ anymore with their music or too rich to bother.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙂
Loved grace, in the 80s starship, her voice was phenomenal
What B.S. This is woefully inaccurate. Vintage TV sucks the big one.
and I don't miss any touring or recording musician as much as I miss Sly Stone but he seems to be just barely functional these days.
Thanks for sharing
If you don't recognize many of these people, then you're not the demographic for this video. You probably need to be a little on the - ahem - more mature side to know them. 🙋🏻♀️ Lol
Phil Collins certainly had a colorful career , Enjoy your retirement !
Your favourite?
They all grew up
And grew older!
Loved Stevie Nick's!
That’s how life is😊
@@lindadeal3344it’s life
This is a joke. Whoever made this is clueless. Don't bother watching.
Why are you getting mad??
What made you think like this?
@@VintageTVShows What makes you think I'm mad? Sorry if I sound rude, but there are just too many inaccuracies. And yeah, when somebody dies, chances are we'll never see them again, lol.
I bought surrealistic pillow at a theuft store for $2 about 20 years ago and it was 5 years before I realized that was the album title and not a band Surrealistic Pillow doing a Jefferson Airplane cover song. It took me that long to play it too, because I thought, man this band has to suck to ride coattails like that. That’s what seeing so much bullshit at the thrift bins does to you though. Just so much bullshit. It’s a sad stoner moment. Embarrassing.
Grace Slick didn't quit because she wanted to hand the reins over and give the younger people a chance. Grace Slick was an old drunken washed up loudmouth whose best days were 60 years ago. And Captain Beefheart is dead. I'll just stop there.
i wish more heritage Prog & Art rock acts had utilised more edgy girl vocalists like Toyah if only in later years as they have abeit as a married couple. when Anthony Phillips used Phil Collins plus Viv.Auliffe & Steve Hackett added Sally Oldfields’ vocals on solo albums it gave another dimension. considering these acts embraced diversity of sound it’s odd to me how most of those bands avoided women in their line ups. i believe Rush added a girl on just one song . PGs stuff with Kate & Laurie Anderson is brilliant & Yes could’ve filled Jon Andersons’ void with a female in 2004 instead of pissing on Benoit. maybe poor old Yoko is the excuse they’d all site …. Voices like Careys Matthews , Bjork, god knows there’s lots .Good on Fripp & Toyah at least 😁👍❤️
Thanks for sharing ☺️
and I don't ever recall Robert Fripp being this active and visible, not even in King Crimson's heyday. I kinda prefer his session playing to the playful music he's doing with his wife.
Thanks for sharing
Never heard of most f them and can’t say I’ll miss any of them.
Total crap
these are mostly wrong
Who?
@@VintageTVShows Maybe I should say the part I saw. As mentioned Grace Slick was performing solo and with Jefferson Airplane into the 80's. Once you got to Captain Beefheart I kind of gave up on this one. I will watch the rest but those were wrong so i assumed there was no research done.🤔
Whoever made this video should work for Trump
But why Man?
Not missing any of them.
They're not missing me.
Like they say often "Nobody cares" Sometimes if you don't toot your own horn, you won't hear any music. Hang in there Jim.
Why not?
