From the 1967 album, " Happy Together" this sweet melodic tune, with Howard Kaylan delivering such delightful vocals, was one of their happier songs. The follow-up release to Happy Together, this was a big brassy tune, with a full orchestra and the so 60's cowbells. The lyrics capture a loving relationship that nothing can interfere with. John Barbata drives a great beat on the drums that helped drive this very 60's message to Number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100's and Number 1 in Canada. Such a groovy tune. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ Thanks Daniel, loved this memory. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦
I loved it, one of the best intros for me. This is live, all performances on Ed Sullivan were live. One of my favorite groups ever. Two great lead singers. You Showed Me by them is very good also . No decade cant beat the 60s for great music. 🎉🎊
Harri, these guys were big in the mid 60's. I grew up in a small city south of Pittsburgh, and I can still remember being at a Friday night dance sponsored by the fire station and the Turtles coming on.
The Turtles were a hit-making machine in the '60s and I loved them. The lead singer was Howard Kaylan, and the guy in the mustard top is Mark Volman. These two, known as "Flo and Eddie," went on to join Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, of all things, and ultimately resumed working the oldies circuit as the Turtles. Kaylan retired a couple/few years back. Last year, Volman announced that he has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. As of this past summer, he was still performing with the Happy Together Tour, a review of '60s bands that also includes groups like the Cowsills, the Association, what's left of Badfinger, etc.
Another great group from the 60's. "Happy Together" is their biggest hit in 1967. But they had a lot of great songs such as "It Ain't Me Babe", "Let Me Be", "You Baby", "Grim Reaper Of Love", "Can I Get To Know You Better", "You Know What I Mean", "She's My Girl", "You Showed Me" etc.
Hey! HarriBest, Do you not find it Amazing Frank Zappa recruited two of the Turtles to be in" The Mother's of Invention, band? around the time of "We're only in it for the Money!" album?
..and the live album with "Mothers live at Filmore East" ending with the song "Happy together: Later Zappa fired them for using drugs which Frank never accepted in his band.
I knew their music in the 60's but didn't see their fun and humor till later. Great band.
Thanks Harri.

A fun group with a number of top 40 hits. Great request, Daniel, and great reaction, Harri! It is an energetic song 🎉
I dont think we cared much about production quality back then.
I saw The Turtles around 1990.
