#Hiker #Hiking #Survival
ALWAYS tell someone where you’re going and when you’ll be back when you go hiking! If you take off into the woods alone, even if you’re well equipped and well prepared, things can go wrong. You can be injured, attacked by animals, get sick, or just get lost. And if rescuers don’t find you within the first 72 hours, your chances of survival are very, very low. Making sure people know to realize you’re missing, and know where to look for you, is THE most important thing for your own safety and survival.
Super important, my cocky butt got stuck in the woods for 3 days with a flat and no one new where I was, I of course had a spare- never checked to confirm the Jack was there 😅. Luckily I had plenty of food and water and my car to stay warm but no service for miles and I didn’t know how long it would be before I found someone.
Absolutely agree
Hey I'm missing my Adidas slides. Can you help?
@@minoltaaraya I’m glad everything turned out well for you. That’s not always the case.
Rodger that
No one knew he was missing? That's sad. Glad they were in the right place at the right time.
Some people are loaners. I tell a few people when I’m heading out. They usually ask me three weeks later how the hike was. Makes me think the didn’t receive the message til then.😂
Went hiking in slides. Then barefoot to the chopper. Probably did handstands into the hospital
People are just too caught up on appearing successful or maintaining it so much, that they don't care about others... Sad
It's really sad none of his friends or family called him in as missing in 2 weeks. I hope he has some support as he recovers from this.
2 weeks in the cold wearing sandals and his beard didn't grow in and his hair gel is still in.
@@kristingallo2158 two weeks isn't long enough to grow a full beard for most people. He had some stubble. Some people don't grow a lot of facial hair. Hair gel? You mean greasy and dirty? You must have seen a different video.
@@zachhenderson7982 keep believing everything you see, like a good boy.
@@kristingallo2158 lol not everything is a conspiracy. What would even be the point of faking this? Wouldn't the rescuers and medical staff notice that the guy was actually fine and not showing signs of starvation if this was fake?
@Hit and Run Ohh that's a very good rebuttal. People often survive 2 weeks with no food and water especially with hair gel and zero people reporting them missing.
What a blessing for that man. I am happy that he is home and safe.
Let this be a lesson to all of us. No matter what it looks like to you, never give up hope!
So right. Keep the hope of someone coming to help. 🙏😻
@@westzed23 💯!
I'd be doomed... No way I would last two days let alone two weeks.
Thank god that young man made it!!
I bet you would be surprised at what you could do.
Incredible! 💕 Please, all, let someone know when you're going hiking, where you'll be, when you'll return. Doesn't have to be intrusive, just route details & a quick check in when returning.
There is more to this missing hiker’s story that we probably won’t hear about.
I think lots of LSD was involved
More and more homeless people keep wandering these mountains I always find little encampments and evidence multiple people do this
@@sixfigureskibum 😄
@Hit and Run they're talking about drugs. Are you this guy's spokesman? Bc I see you commenting on EVERYONE'S comments showing any doubt that it's legit. Jfc, stop paying so much attention to internet comments, they're not that deep lol
He was wearing slides so it doesn’t seem like he was a typical hiker
In the right place at the right time. A beautiful miracle 💞
Thank you, "Lester Holt." ❤️
People used to think I was overreacting when I'd let a friend know where I was going and when I'd be back (with a drop-dead time when the authorities should be called). I'm so glad he was found and hope that he recovers quickly and is able to get back out and enjoy hiking again soon!
I like how he apologized to them even though he was almost at death..
In this day and age, people don’t even come look for you when you’re home. He got lucky
The man looks too clean cut to be list for weeks
lost
few minutes more..he would have been ...NO MORE.!!!.THANKS TO THE RESCUERS.. for saving his life👏😂🙏❤️😊
Those flip flops were what made him survived that long
He went hiking in slide on sandals? And without a phone? Something ain't right with this story
Could be a crackheeeaad
@@davidjerson2546 that got ahold of some bad stuff
Insert go fund me for "Medical Bills"
Yeah and after “weeks” his hair growth is non existent and he’s fairly clean. No frostbite on them little piggies. Mohawk and no beard? Sounds a lot like “We gave this homeless guy our last $20, donate”
@@asphaltannihilator157 you dumb people are scaring me… like did you retain any information from watching this?
Thank God that couple was led intuitively by the Spirit to the spot to find him and that he is ok. Looks like he may have been close to death. So glad for this rescue. Bless them all.
What Spirit Cult are you in?
Sweet Jesus! Thank God he’s alive!!!
Thank goodness he was saved!
Also, let somebody know where you are going and when you expect to be back. Glad he survived.
I'm not a random homeless guy. I'm a hiker.
glad someone pointed that out. title should be "Squatting homeless man interrupted By Couple After Being High For Weeks
This man needs to thank his guardian angel for this
She does it all. She rescues and Act. Love this American pie girl.
There are emergency beacons that will send a one time distress signal to call Search and Rescue complete with your GPS coordinates. Somewhat expensive at 3 or 400 bucks, but worth it if you hike alone.
Good to know! Thank you for sharing this!
Absolutely I’ve been hiking my whole life I don’t care if I’m going hiking on a trail that I’ve hiked for 20 years or trail that I’ve just barely found I always bring a backpack bear spray extra bottles of water extra battery for my phone and emergency beacon with light and deet spray. Did you notice he was hiking in flip-flops?
@alisterx8698 yeah, there's all sorts of th8ngs that don't make sense here
Poor guy. Glad he's now safe, am sure he just thought he could take a small walk. He didn't plan to get lost and starving for weeks. In he's defense many of us who enjoy walking get a little adventurous and go off path without thinking about getting lost. He had bad luck. 💐
Dude was just homeless lmao
PERSONAL LOCATOR BEACON!!!!!!!! I Can't believe they didn't mention it. In the wilderness? Get one. Be well, be safe, be happy.
This will be a Great story for Mr. Ballen fans out there!!!!! 😎😎😎👍👍
Ha! 💯….love Mr. Ballen!
His first mistake is that he told no one his itinerary. Whether you go hunting/fishing /camping or any outdoor sports, always tell someone your whereabouts. Always carry a mirror polished stainless steel water bottle. leave your plastic at home. With a mirror polished water bottle, he could've flashed for help which you can't do with a plastic water bottle. Always carry a knife and fire making kits. You can cut kindling with your knife and built a campfire with your fire making kit. Your campfire can become a signaling device by adding dead leaves and spruce/pine/fir branches. It will make huge bloom of smoke that will attract rescuers. If you can't do any of those, then, always carry on your person a small survival kit. It's worth its weight in gold
And always let people know where you are going and when they should expect you back!
I dont understand why people go hiking with no food no water nothing🤦🏾😥 im so happy they found him ty
Starting any hike without proper preparation: footwear, food, water, electrolyte drink, hiking sticks/trekking poles, compass, maps, phone maps, phone....
*Homeless California Hiker Runs out of Meth and calls for help in his Sliders!*
Yep
Wow 😯 it was meant for them to find you
What a beautiful story! So glad these generous people, were able to save him !❤️
Mo butter!
Yeah, you ppl r grvss.
In other words, I couldn't tell which of the three was the one needing evacuation...that was her boyfriend, huh? Go figure.🦊🚬
If this is for real, I'm thankful he was found. Two things stand out as odd: 1) he's wearing flip flops 2) he doesn't even have a 5 o'clock shadow on his face ???🤔
3 minutes without air, 3 days without water, 30 days without food.
Those are the limits.
Another pro tip:
Never drive anywhere or hike anywhere without a fully charged cell phone!
“Sorry to put a damper on your guys’ camping trip” as if this wasn’t something they’re going to cherish forever 😭
An emergency locator beacon would’ve saved that man long before that couple came along. I know they’re not cheap…
This is why I love America....That helicopter hoisting him up....
Gods hand ....
Dudes wearing flip flops. Wtf
Meth
Often disassociated persons have no one to share plans with. That is sad.
Plot twist. He’s just a homeless guy.
I wouldn't really say that's a twist. I think it's pretty obvious.
Most Americans could probably last a month without eating and still be just fine. Glad this guy is safe! He’s one of the lucky ones.
Tell someone where you’re going. Tell them when you should be back
Wow. GodBless!
The missing guy is Shaven ? Was he really missing ?
Interesting.
many adult men don't grow facial hair at all or very slowly. i could go without shaving for three weeks before you noticed and im 30
@@CC-oi9mc You should have a doctor check your testosterone levels. That is not normal.
@@Dziugenonas Yah ,,,,,, Well above average !
This isn't really what you think
Not being reported as missing first is disturbing. That's the first rule before water/food.
I assume he got a health check once lifted.
They took a selfie with the guy……………….our society is strange.
Reporter does not mention most important rule don't hike alone.
"A California man managed to survive in the wild for weeks in frigid temperatures"
Gimme a break, judging by his facial hair, flip flops, overall look and the fact that no one reported him missing for "weeks", I'm guessing he was out there 2-3 days tops and is most likely homeless with mental health issues. Perhaps I'm a cynic Lol but that's my take on the whole situation.
💯 agree!
💯 also agree!!
Totally agree…there’s more to the story.
Yep
So did he just sit down for 2 weeks?!
This is much needed good news!
Heroes 🇺🇲
Always use the buddy system and always let others know where you're going.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
When the whole story has missing info…one should be questioning this story, he may be truthful, but two weeks on water alone you normally are energy depleted, in sandles, in freezing temps, the odds are far worse…not impossible..no fires, no cell phone, no reported missing person, was he a homeless individual?, was he out there to avoid society?, was he mentally fit?, I’m certain there is more to this story, he was found and is safe now…
@@XcoloradokyleX they showed him walking with the paramedic somewhat briskly. No way it was two weeks.
Who is this man and where is his family? He was not reported missing by anyone? Poor guy to think he gave up on life a couple days prior to finally have a miracle happen for him. I hope his belly is full and his body is warm now.
I want to hear his side of the story since many here some seem to fully believe it
Who tf goes hiking in slides? Man's didn't even bother to bring socks.
Always be prepared for emergencies before you go camping.
Make sure someone knows where you are and how long you’ll be gone. Set a specific time limit for contact- if you think you’ll be gone 4 hours, your contact should call police after 8, etc.
Many thousands of such cases are widely known, but hikers will continue to die from unpreparedness.
Something very off about this “story.”
Lol, how did he get such a clean shave
Tweeker in the woods lol
who goes hiking in flip-flops? I’m not a pro hiker but I’ve been doing it my whole life and that’s not something I’d recommend anybody doing. this is just another example of not anybody can go hiking. compass, some sort of drinking straw and emergency back up battery and phone, Emergency beacon with sound and light. If these are things you do not have I recommend buying them you don’t need the most expensive store brand but something I can help you.
Were they flip-flops, or good hiking sandals? Many companies make excellent hiking sandals with good traction and sole protection. I can’t imagine hiking in flip-flops just because they would quickly become very uncomfortable and ruin the hike.
@@davestagner I don’t know of any open toe Adidas flip-flops hiking sandal? I would never recommend anybody to go hiking with open toe shoes. And no they are not what you were saying I got the image I went online cross reference everything I could find Adidas does not make anything like that of what he’s wearing.
This guy was well equipped. He even brought shaving equipment
I hike barefoot, lol.
I don't own anything on your list
I also own some really awesome sandles with lug tread . I used to resole teva sandles with 510 rubber.
Some people can walk off into the woods for 10 days without ever looking at a map and come out on the highway 100 yards from their car.. some people should watch the outdoors from the safety of their living room on a wide screen HD TV .
Oh yes I also used to fight wildfires and did SAR helicopter rappler work in national parks and forests.
Oh wait. I gave a compass...and know how to use it. Ypu generally need a map for it to help .. lol who knows what a map is anymore
Inspiring
Make sure you take a selfie but this is dumb
Probably a homeless camp in the area
Why do they have to record him though ?
There are satellite sos devices like the Garmin inreach, zoleo, spotx, and iphone 14 now has sos satellite text. Although it's odd the couple had cell service. You need to bring your phone at all times hiking.
Who gets lost in the San Bernardino mountains?
If you can afford a GPS tracker I'd say get one. If your an adventurer definitely invest in one.
He had no cell or power bank. No way to make fire.
Why is he wearing slides hiking? Had he taken his hiking boots off?
Glad he was found
Yeah, this whole situation smells of bs.
He's wearing sandals at first and then barefoot to the helicopter.
Also, missing weeks worth of facial hair......
Give this man a t.v show.
rescuer thinks shes the main character lol
"Take a compass or GPS with you..." and it will just add extra weight to carry if you don't know how to use the device.
How far deep was he in the forest they never said ?
Kinda sad that nobody ever reported the guy missing
I guess he brought a razor to shave. That man is cleaner shaving then me and I shaved yesterday. This story doesn’t add up.
This young man was so lucky. ❤ He didn't seem to be a regular hiker. You always need supplies and equipment with you even for short hikes.🧭🥾 It looks like this area has a lot of hikers and walkers going through it. The terrain looks so similar all around. A twisted ankle or other injury can happen. Also let someone know you are hiking.
The area is beautiful. It's so easy to go for a walk and get turned around. This man found water and stayed there while listening for someone come.👍🏻 This situation turned out wonderful. 🤠 So glad for this young man to be rescued. The rescuers did a great job of getting him out and getting his health checked. ❤❤❤
Yeah pretty amazing how he stayed clean shaven and a nice haircut that looks like it stopped growing while he was out in that wilderness
Also tell someone you are going on a hike.
Make a movie about it, and tell us how he survived a mountain lion encounter
or a Cocaine Bear
Or he’s the only soul I witness of Bigfoot but no camera…
@@bruh_hahaha😂😂😂😂😂
That's what they're hoping for
Never go hiking alone even if you’re experienced. I see more and more people around me hiking alone these days.
Or in flippers. He was really reaally lucky
First off, how did he got lost? Did he even have a backpack with gears? I went on many hikes and by myself and not once I got lost. Some of those places were new to me and I end up fine. There are some place that are remote and unpopular trails. You cannot just enjoy nature, you have to be on alert and makes good decision. Manage your time and stay on the trails. If you are exploring know the place first before exploring or doing multiple trips.
After they called “911”…just a phone call away…
Tell someone you're out. Carry flares.
Always tell people your itinerary when solo hiking.
Another tip is to leave a dirty sock and a plastic bag on your dashboard of the car. That way if they use dogs to try to find you they will have your scent.
I always leave my draws on the dashboard!
Seems, “off”. Who goes hiking with those kinds of sandals/slippers? No one single person missed him? Wish I knew the full story
I’m skeptical. I can’t see somebody being in the wilderness that long and looking that clean-shaven. I don’t usually hear of hikers carrying shaving equipment. But it’s possible. And nobody calling to report him missing? Publicity stunt maybe? I could be wrong.
Your comment might age well
I'm skeptical too. But maybe they let him clean up first before taking a photo and putting it online?
So the couple had no cell phones on them & back up battery supplies for their cell phones & no hiking map.Sounds like they wanted to be lost & make the news......
That’s awesome, woohoo!!!
Fresh hair cuts on the trail?
How does a grown man get lost I don't understand
No cell. No way to make fire.
I need more background. How he get lost? He went hiking by himself? Netflix documentary please 🤔
