  • LaserPecker contacted me and asked if I’d be interested in checking out their LaserPecker2 engraver and I said yes, why yes I would be interested! This is a portable unit and has several modes of use:
    1. On the stand, which has a motorized vertical travel system, either parallel to the table or rotated at an angle
    2. Hand-held on location
    3. Trolley mode for engraving signs
    4. Slab mode
    5. Cylinder mode
    The size is limited at 100x100mm but the portability makes it an option where gantry-style engravers are not.
    The LaserPecker2 can engrave on many materials including wood, cork, stone, stainless steel, acrylic, glass, leather, cola cans, and many others and is controlled with an incredibly user friendly app for iOS or Android, plus a Windows and Mac option. All in all I’m very impressed with this unit!

    Lisa, you did a great job of explaining many of the details of using this! I have watched a lot of UA-camrs use a branding iron to burn logos, but most of the time, they are not even, or too hot or too cold. I bought one to do logos on my woodturning work, and just haven't taken the time to set it up and start using it. Your video has motivated me to do this. Thanks!

    • @LisaRamlow
      @LisaRamlow  Рік тому

      Hi Eileen! I had an electric branding iron years and years ago and while it burned more reliably then some of the others I’ve seen, the design was old and outdated and was rectangular since originally used on flat pieces. It didn’t fit on the bottoms of bowls and I’ve had no luck with markers of any kind. And a decent wood burning tool is not cheap so overall I’m thrilled with what this gives me!

    That was a great review Lisa. I wished I had seen this before I did mine but since I did mine before this that is not possible LOL
    What I had to do in slab mode was shim the machine up so the ball bearing levelers lined up with the feed wheels. I had some scrap Formica that was just right.
    I also find this a very cool tool and there will be lots of uses.

    I love your video. I think if you took a pencil and marked a dot at the center of your bowls and coaster and used the app to find the center you would be very accurate and have the same dimensions around the outside of your circular designs, nice work !

    Hi Lisa, great video, thanks. My bowls tend to have a bit of a raised "button" in the middle. would this unit work on these, or do the bottoms need to be dead flat?

    • @LisaRamlow
      @LisaRamlow  Рік тому

      Hi Steve! That shouldn’t be an issue since you can take the cone off if you need to. You’d just have to focus to whatever surfed you’re burning on and then go to town, either with the laser on the stand or on a homemade jig thing for positioning bro your needs 👍

      Thanks so much Amanda! The LaserPecker2 is very easy to use for sure, it’s only real limitation in my opinion is the maximum size. I’ve found the Ortur to be easy to use as well - the software just has a bit of a learning curve.

    What’s the difference between the 3

    • @LisaRamlow
      @LisaRamlow  Рік тому

      The Laserpecker 3? It is a fiber laser so works on metals and other things - the LP2 is a diode laser and will do coated stainless steel and aluminum.

      Hi Dave! Yes the Laserpecker2 is on the high end of the diode lasers. It’s really simple to use with the app and the portability is a feature not found on many others. I am going to be testing another gantry style laser engraver and then giving that away to a subscriber, so stay tuned and maybe you’ll win one! 😃
