Being eligible for parole isn't the same as being granted parole. Release is still up to the parole board. That board will take a lot into consideration like: victim statements; risk of re-offense; offenders participation in treatment; behavior in prison; and numerous other factors. Let's hope other countries have similar safeguards?

I think parole is a formality they have to give everybody. He maybe eligible, but he may never get it. At least I hope not. The movie Shawshank Redemption shows a good example of this. The members of the Manson family and other high profile murderers have been up for parole numerous time but are still in prison or died in prison.
Yeah... unfortunately, the justice systems in Europe are quite different. They don't sentence people for actual life sentences, even for murder. And they certainly don't have the death penalty. My hubby is a native of Denmark. When I found this information out, I couldn't believe or understand it!

Not in a dungeon, but locked up behind boarded windows,.He had them in fear, lied to them that their parents had stopped looking for them. I can't remember all the details, but one day one of them managed to get outside, and a neighbor man heard her cry for help, and summoned the police. She told him who she was, and he knew exactly who she was, because their families had NEVER given up looking for them. Castro committed suicide in prison. One of the girls still does a "missing persons"report for a local TV station.

24 years down there is shocking, but just is shocking is being 19 years old and your whole life has been spent down there. And it's a little ironic that she keeps his daughter prisoner alone for so many years, and now he himself is kept in solitary confinement.
Hopefully, either the judges will be sane and deny him parole, or with his declining health he will be dead in the coming months before he has a chance to even attempt to get paroled. Worst part about watching mr ballen's video on this. I did not cry and i think it is because human evil has numbed me. I just keep hearing and seeing more and more real stories about absolute scumbags of human beings, and at this point I just cannot bring myself to cry anymore. I feel horror and sadness over it but i am just too numb to have a physical reaction to it. 2022 definitely did not help with a certain war crime-riddled invasion occuring on the orders of a madman.
