How am I just discovering your work?? I just tried Focus on a bass guitar buss and man it does exactly what I wanted...just the right amount of distortion to have it poke out in the mix.
Wow. You used to take forever to get to demonstratingThe plugin's intended effects. I'm glad you came up "... And you can do this!" To start the video!
I'm gonna put my 15 year old daughter through Focus so that only a bit of the highs and lows get through, this for my own mental health. Thanks, Chris for helping me get through this challenging time.
This is a serious game-changer and appears to be future-proof!. The lower or no aliasing is ahead of the whole game as far as i know. I also finally understand how mojo and dyno belong with spiral and the rest! Is it worth adding a post-attenuator on the focus frequency? Linked inversely and equally to the "boost" so that harmonics appear WITHOUT getting the EQ bump? I can foresee me adding an inverse post-eq to try keep or recreate the input eq on the saturated output. Also, this effect in "reverse"!?. Distort the "unfocussed" output!? What of swapping the B.Pass filter with a Band Stop filter at same frequency!? And then v3 with adjustable frequency ( i definitely understand why you wouldn't want to, and thats fine master!) and a B.Pass / B.Stop switch. In the spirit of the fletcher munson curve? But i mean ignore me and Thanks x20000 again. These amazing inventions!
Just tried this today, along with a bunch of other airwindows plugins I didn't know how to use. So after not being able to figure out what interstage or ultrasonic did on my mix (I checked out the manual later), I put this on - and was instantly a fan!
This is a truly gift, I tried on a couple things, it really shines and gives more flexibility to the already impressive Mojo and Dyno... and really shines in vocal bus, finding the rith spot on frequency (focus thing is amazing) with some good boost in drive mode... fantastic!
Chris outdoes himself yet again! I love Mojo and Dyno so much, as well as their underappreciated old friend, Drive. Focus not only provides a great and up-to-date collection of older plugins (a la StudioTan, Ditherbox, Monitoring, BussColors and, of course, PocketVerbs), but also introduces an innovative "inversion" of the plugin using just the Output knob. Imagine other plugins with an Inv/Wet or Inv/Dry/Wet knob having this Output function (or even PocketVerbs' amazing Gating).
For this plugin to work properly, I somehow found it only useful with output on max. Not sure why. My first impression of this plugin was not that great, but after a few minutes with fiddeling, I must say its very pleasing. Good job!!

..."Ythis MOJO is very thick"..
He says, barely audible through the haze of deliciously flavored crazy distortion. Love this guy!
