Comparing the TX films, THICC, and Deskeys films only have subtle sound differences and it was hard for me to tell most of the time which is which. Easier for me to tell which is kebo sometimes but not all the time. Its awesome that you did a blind test. A lot of the sound tests I heard that didn't have a blind test so I was trapped into bias and confirmation. Thank you for this

You are the first person on UA-cam I have seen who goes to the trouble of doing a scientific test - same switch, same board, same position. Its logical. But I've seen so many reviewers and keyboard enthusiasts who bang away on a row of keys across the board. Everyone knows you get completely different sounds in different position son the board. Thank you sir!
Great video thanks so much. Makes me glad that the first time I bought films I went for deskeys 0.3mm, as the sound is mostly the switch and the housing and has very little extra. Again, thanks for the great video.
I recently wanted to make a reddit post asking what are the differences between films bc I can't understand shit, and this video comes out. Really good and helpful content as always, love u
a suggestion I would have for sound test is to jump back and forth more between sound test (like in the middle of typing), this can help us have an easier time picking out the difference between tests (if there's any)
Thanks for the suggestion! it's tricky making useful sound test on YT videos, I think a much better model is something like kbcompare.com, where you can rapidly go back and forth between the different options at your own pace. I want to keep adding features to the site to make it more useful / easier for these types of tests. Here's the link to the sound test for this video: kbcompare.com/jcjC3g/start
I was just wondering how Deskeys films compared to the other options, great video and perfect timing! v impressed by the sound comparison site you made too!
Thanks a lot for your website tool. Being new to the mech hobby, I had no idea what films were up to. Now I have my own, unbiased opinion. My personal result was : I only revealed unfilmed (the most annoying) and Deskeys (the least "messy and tiring" to listen to). I guess I am going for Deskeys then. Found it on Keygem for purchase in EU.

Maybe a jwk linear sound comparison would be cool since theres so many now :) lookin forward to your upcomin vids man you're killin it
This is such an amazing review/comparison. Concise, video bookmarks, name of the test persists throughout the segment, blind comparison tools, clear rankings, etc. Keep up the great work! Edit: the blind comparison site isn't working for me in Firefox or Chrome :\
My blind favorite was the TX, followed closely by Thicc Great idea with kbcompare! It would be awesome to see functionality expanded in the future to include a searchable archive of sound tests with information like switches, boards, keycaps, modifications, lubes, and films. That way the community could build up a repository of sound test to help inform buying decisions and/or keeb sound porn haha
Kebo: Got the sharpest clicky sound in these film list TX: Most balanced film with all of these film advantages, TX got a little crunchy clicky sound as Kebo also with deeper sound THICC film: Same goes with her name, really THICC clicky typing sound but not annoying as Kebo (well maybe a little) Deskys: Having the deepest typing sound and reduced the crunchy clicky "noise", If you've got a gateron black ink v2 switch then I'll recommended it
A great video, and your channel is really helping me, a keyb noob, to better understand the complexity behind some of the decisions needed. I would love to see a video talking about lube, different lubes, and what the thinking is behind the different choices!
Kudos to you for the hard work you're putting in your videos, it's by far the best instructional material one can find about mechanical keyboard switches these days 👍
Lol honestly the only difference I could hear was filmed vs unfilmed. That website was really usaful though. I can certainly be a very powerful tool for switch sound testing as well! Keep it up, your contents are great :)
Great video. And the kbcompare is a fantastic concept; Testing and comparing without knowing what you're hearing is a great way to know what you really like without biases. I could constantly tell which one was my favorite, and my goto film from now on will be the Deskeys film. I still have some TXfilms left, but every time I tested it was the worst sounding one for me. Well, it is still way better than nothing(especially on JWK switches).
Interesting! That might have to do with ease of installation as the shiny part will have more friction with whatever it’s touching, but there should be no difference in sound / feel as far as I know. I’ll do some digging :)
Great video dude. Really informative stuff. That kbcompare website you made is nifty af! Just copped a board thats coming with THICC filmed Mauves and I actually ended up blindly choosing the THICC sound test on kbcompare haha. Keep up the good work!
Amazing! I have some audio clips of variations of foam usage in my kbd67, I’m thrilled to be able to use your kbcompare for it! Thanks for a great vid too
I loved that website. For me, tx was #1 and thicc was #2. I’m pretty happy that I ended up choosing tx, because I just filmed my entire keeb two days ago with them and have lots of extras. Would’ve sucked if I though they sounded the worst in comparison.
Deskeys annoying to peel off at times, but much easier to install since they don’t have the potential to ‘snap’ or pop out of place like polycarbonate. I like them tho
Thank you for these. I just got my first films yesterday and filmed some switches, but remember wondering what the differences were between the one (got kebo since they were actually in stock).
Did u notice a difference regarding the typing experience/ feel? I own a rama koyu (integrated Plate) w/ 62g Sakurios and the TX films made the overall typing extremely (even more) stiff - where the Kebos which iam using rn are perfect. Never used Thicc or Deskkeys tho.
I didn't really notice a significant feel difference between the four, but it would make sense that thicc and TX would be the "stiffest" while Kebo and Deskeys have more wiggle room (kebo because it's thin, and deskeys because it's very flexible). I think you'd like Deskeys

It’ll all come down to whether or not the switch has housing wobble (meaning the top and bottom housings move around when you hit the switch). That movement produces an unpleasant crunch, similar to a soft click. I film pretty much all linears and tactiles except those that don’t fit them (such as creams or holy pandas). As for clicky ive never thought to film them since the click noise overpowers any noise coming from housing wobble
I suggest watching his previous video. There is no significant sound difference with filmed creams, since the housing is already tight. So you don’t really need to film them.
I agree with Melnyx about filming creams and I usually avoid it, but I do have a friend that tried filming creams recently with Deskeys and according to him they fit (have not confirmed myself though)
