I grip the bars at their ends, so no big deal for me I guess (I usually cut to 750 or 760 and run ergon ga2 grips). But I can see how that'd make a difference for you!
I noticed it right away in the video you put out about the new bars. I could only imagine what it felt like. Millimeters of change equals a mile in difference when it comes to feel and comfort. Lesson learned. New mic sounds real good! You keep upping your game!
Ya I noticed it right when I put it together. But its still pretty crazy that my grips are in the same spot without even cutting them now. Thanks mang im impressed with this little mic set up. $35 on amazon
In my opinion you could install the long grips a little bit outsider to compensate or even just cut the grips so that they become same long as the old ones. So the money to buy a new handlebar can be saved. However it's a personal choice, after all cutting your new grips doesn't sound so comfortable😅
Nice one mate! Pity about "over cutting" the bars... I ride with the bars "inside" of my hands (so a little bit of my hand hangs over the edge of the bars)... Riding with my hands too far in would just freak me out a bit. Hahaha...
In other words, your preferred bar width is not measured from the overall length of your bars, but from the insides of your grips. That's the number we should say when someone asks, "How wide are your bars?"
I found out I should have put them on with a mallet. I didn't. That's why they addedd so much width. - my bars are 740 now with them installed properly. Luckily they might be big enough still.
Oh damn bro.... that is a bummer. There's an easier fix if this happens; cut your grips down or get shorter grips 🤪 . On a serious note, awesome tip and sharing this intel. Such a small detail that can easily be missed. Cheers homie 🍺
I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to run your hands on the outside “widest” part so it shouldn’t matter. In fact this just confirms what I’ve been saying for a while, MTB grips are too long. If you have to run your hands to the inside to reach controls. You’re not making proper use of the bar and it’s far more likely to clip trees if you ride in wooded areas.
I found out DMR Deathgrips should be put on with a mallet. I didn't. That's why they addedd a lot of width. - my bars are 740 now with them installed properly. Luckily they might be big enough still.
Damn i almost had my own fuck up. I watched this yesteday. Waiting on my pipe cutters to arrive today. I assumed just cut on the 10 line on each side to make my 800s, 780. I measured and they are in fact 800. But to get them to 780 i have to cut on the 20. Im like wtf that doesnt make any sense. Wouldnt i be cutting off 40mm then. Maybe the bars are marked at 20 indicating if you cut 20 on both side's it gives you 20 Total. Meassured the cut lines and nope. 5 meassures 5mm exactly, so does 20mm which would give me 40 total making them 760mm. Then i realized. I was holding the tape meassure with my thumb on one end and never moved it over to the 10mm mark on that side LOL. Ohhh.. dumb ass!! At least i realized the math wasnt mathing and sorted out how i was measuring wrong.
Lol, drop the wider grips! You don’t need wider grips! Call the company and tell them they are not making grips to industry standards. My bars are the ones driving my prefer bar length not the grips!
Umm ya. I grip my bars at the end. You probably ride parks and pumptracks because gripping like that in the woods on a singletrack you're asking to clip a tree.
SO BASICALLY, CUT THE ENDS OF YOUR GRIPS OFF SLIDE GRIPS TO COMFORT LEVEL, PUT IN END PLUGS AND DON'T CUT BARS! OR CUT AFTER YOU HAVE FOUND THE SWEET SPOT.
This is good info that I've not heard anywhere else.
Thanks man

I mean cutting them short has a lot of good factors I just don’t know what to do with them lol

So theoretically if I thought I wanted to cut my bars, but actually just got longer grips I wouldn’t have to cut my bars.
I mean… ya whish I would have thought of that lol
All the credit goes to you my friend. Chromag has some 140-150mm grips that I just ordered.
@@superbcomplex nice my dude

Almost 500 subs! Congrats dude!!!
Thanks Broskie you've been here since day 1 🤘

I agree with that
Yeah, my deathgrips add 55mm overall to my bars. That's why I'm cutting my bars to 705 instead of just 760
I found out I should have put them on with a mallet. I didn't. That's why they addedd so much width. - my bars are 740 now with them installed properly. Luckily they might be big enough still.
Is this one large euphemism for penises? Asking for a friend. 😂
Hahahahah dead

ahahahah this guy😆 Ya I felt like an idiot for not thing of that small detail. but all in all I have perfect bars for my dirt jumper lol
@@RydenDirty for sure the grips looks comfy 😎
These T1 bars are on sale for £39.99 ordered a pair to test at that price!
Hell ya so cheap

Personally I choke up on my bars cause I use to ride BMX. I never hold my bars at the end. I like my controls really far to the inside

Ya they are a pain to get on for sure
tag metals is dopee. im riding the T1 carbon on 3 bikes
Hell ya dude
sick vid dude
Thanks Dude
long grip caused the issue, got it
Yup
Great Info 🤟😎
Thank you. I had to be the test dummy lol
Cant you just install grips a few mm further out compensate for the narrower bars?
Yes that’s possible but I’ve never tried it
Measure once cut ✂️ twice 😅
That’s my motto lol
What is an ‘inch’ ?
25.4 mm
you can cut your bars? i thought you just ordered them to what size you wanted.
Yep most bars have little markings to do so
I always have my hands on the end of the grips. Not on the inside.
I guess I’m a weirdo cause I’ve noticed most people do what you do 🤷♂️

That’s a good point
Wth's an industry standard? 😅😅
I thought everyone held at the outer end of the grip. So no difference.
I’m originally a BMX rider so I always hold more inward 🤷♂️
Umm ya. I grip my bars at the end. You probably ride parks and pumptracks because gripping like that in the woods on a singletrack you're asking to clip a tree.
Actually I ride more singletrack than anything. I just curt my bars a little shorter
New grips instead of bars?
Mostly cause I really wanted to try these bars and grips together.
@@RydenDirty Okay I thought that too. Good editing tho!
@@thestoryofart4642 Thanks Mang🤘
You measured correctly at 760mm. No mistakes on the cut.
Don’t run XL grips or cut the grips to normal size and then run bar end caps.
