I have been debating between these two shoes myself. DMT's new KR0 EVO seems to have resolved the heel counter issue... will try on the Shimano first and then the DMT.
I do certainly love my 903's but make sure you get the sizing right and try on the shoes before you buy if you can. I know it's been a couple of months but I still have the review of the 903's in the works.
Like the look of the KR0 and was considering getting a pair but you're not the only person to complain about the heel cup. The pressure from the wire laces is also a concern.
For anyone considering thos shoe size down. I'm a 38 in specialized ares and bont vapor s. For fizik I'm a 37.5. For this model of dmt I wear a 37. The shoe fits perfectly, but the first ride they were very tight. I stretched out the shoe with a crank arm. In my other dmt shoes I wear either a 37 or 37.5. You must size doen to avoid heel lift. Think of this model as a leather boot, it must be broken in and will initially feel uncomfortable. By the 3rd ride they should feel perfect. DMT has now changed the heel cup so this shouldn't be a problem anymore. I describe dmts as a more comfortable bont, its literally the only shoe that i can take the insole out and it will still be comfortable
I have tried the KR0 and they feel very stiff when it comes to insole. It's like I could feel the sole itself. Also I could feel the BOA laces almost cutting into my upper foot, and they weren't tighten as hard as I normally do in other shoes. I don't think DMT shoes are dedicated for normal/coffee rides, at least not for me. They kind of feel comfortable, and lightweight but on the other hand I am not convinced with them. I have tried KR0, KR1 and KR3. The hardest to put on were the KR1. They felt almost impossible to put them on, and take off as well. In home conditions I would manage, but then outdoors, if you need to take off the shoe for whatever reason, then it would be a pain in the back side. They all do look very nice, but I think a comfort is the most important issue, then the looks. As for sizing, with Shimano and Northwave I use 43. With DMT 42.5 was a better match than 43.
@@chasemason5129 I've ended up with Northwave Mistral White. This would be my 3rd pair I bought in a row. I still have my previous Northwaves, but they are thicker and less breathable. So the Mistrals will be for hot days, and the other ones for normal/colder days.
Your feet expand during a long ride which can make it difficult for you to know whether a shoe truly fits you. May feel comfortable in the shop but after an hour or two of riding it could be a different story.
Sorry to say bro but unless you have had a shoe fit as well as custom orthotics made it’s impossible to talk or review shoes as no shoe will work, most people don’t even have the correct size or shape shoe or orthotics support so buying all these shoes without those 2 things first is just wasting money
You’re precisely right! I had a shoe fit at the Lee Valley Velodrome in London before buying all of the shoes I have reviewed on this channel. I have been fortunate enough to test out these shoes and return them but not everyone has that privilege. Finding the right shoes even after a fit is like finding a needle in a haystack. They may feel good when you put them on but you only really know how well they work for you after several hours of riding and long efforts. Problem is by the time people realise this, they can’t return the shoes. I’m just using my videos as an opportunity to share my experience and thoughts in the hope that it makes it a little easier for some people. Took four different pairs of shoes over 100s miles before I found the perfect shoe for me. I definitely agree with the need to have a shoe fit, just repeating that I did have an extensive shoe fit before any of reviews went up on my channel
@@chasemason5129 for sure the company I own deals in high end performance parts for cycling teams, so I see this mistake everyday, we only offer custom shoes made measure

Thanks man. I was going to upgrade from Shimano 902's, but will look at 3's now. 👍

Go SPD 2% (blue)…first off. I agree with everything you said.
Haha, haven't tried the blue cleats just yet! Hope you enjoyed my review.
Great review! I stopped going with BOA and have been in S-Works Torch Laces. The KR SLs will be my next pick up. Laces just make it easy.
Thanks! If laces float your boat power to you! What's great is there are a plethora of options in the market right now.

Great to hear your insight. I agree with you re the BOA dials cutting into your upper foot, that was my experience with this shoe.

According to Rc902, how is the mold, is it wide or the foot box?
Why you dont try specialized torch? Im considering buying, they seem to be quite top schoe. You can find them for about 330 eur
I should give the torch a try! I'm also interested in trying Quoc's and some Laka's. But I don't know if my bank account would agree with me!
Just hit some big cycling shop that has lots of models to try and find matching shoes for your feet.

@@chasemason5129 Feet won't expand in length much, as for width, thats what adjustment is for, you can dial boa during ride.
I had a pair of DMTs. Good shoe, but toebox was waaaaaaaaay too narrow.
Which model DMT's do you own?
@@chasemason5129 it was an older top of the line model similar to the DMT Pogi’s except mine were not mesh w/ shoelaces.
Still waiting for the Shimano review
