I remember the days of wearing heavy logger boots for tree work. Then I discovered high quality hiking boots (Asolo, La Sportiva, etc). What a life changer.
I’ve been climbing for 16 years, not near as long as you. I own and operate a tree company. I’ve worked with many other climbers and local companies, I’ve never seen a climber that didn’t use spikes in a tree, pruning or removing.
I don't spike all the time, but I can't spike in my Arbpro Evo 2's. They don't cut it for me. After 30 mins of spurs, my feet are screaming. I switched to the La Sportiva Glacier WLF boot. They are $300 and have a steel shank. Game changer!
I always use to climb with lineman boots but like the arbpro boots now, both work well for spurs. The arbpro are great without spurs and the lineman boots are great if all you do is spur climb but hurt my back for walking or working when not in spurs. So to make a long story longer, both work well but up to personal preference.
Thank you top saw for the review. I’m considering buying a pair of climbing boots. I like the look of the arbpro evo you have and I’m also considering buying the heavier leather boots with the steel shanks for comfort and support. My main question is wether the evo 2 boots give the support in the bottom of your foot to protect against your foot hurting due to lack of circulation. Do these also have the steel shank in the soles? Any advice you can give a old man that definitely needs comfort and support while climbing will be greatly appreciated. I know the heavy boots will do the job but heavy boots wear me out as well. Hoping the lighter boots can fill the bill. Thanks again!! May God Bless you sir!!!!!!!
Great to hear some history of tree work!
Thanks Yukito

Very true
Try Solomon’s they’re awesome
Just bought a pair. Thanks for the video!
Enjoy them
Really cool to hear the history
Thank you
Great review. Simple. No frills. Easy
Thank you
It is nice you are sharing what you have learned!
I have Velcro straps on my
spurs and sometimes my feet get numb and/or the top of my feet hurt after climbing. Do these protect the top of your feet?
These boots are pretty heavy and thick, seems like they would prevent binding across the top of the foot
How are they in wet conditions and also snowy and cold conditions?
Great in both the rain and the snow. They keep your feet dry

When I started 35 years ago we spurred everything. Now we never use Spurs for pruning, so we don't damage the tree.
That's sad
Thanks for the review. Do these have steel shanks for spur comfort?
They are plenty comfortable for all day spur climbing

@@davidsmith9 I ended up buying steel shank Carolinas and Lowa hiking boots for rope climbing. $650 investment but very happy with both.
@@nicholasceea4109 badass!
BOOTS 🥾 no steel, I have lost toe nails for not wearing my steel toe boots. Those boot do look very comfortable thanks for the update.
Steel toes certainly protect your toes better, hard to find climbing boots with them.
Andrew pro arb boots have steel caps, and there light.
Also grade 3 saw protection
I'm getting a pair 😀
So are those your holding red dawgs ?
Pretty sure they are
@@topsaw thank you sir
Are the Arbpro boots good for spurs or lineman boots better?

The Arbpro do have a steel shank and do great with spurs. They are more comfortable with my spurs than my big leather climbing boots. Thank you
@@topsaw thank you sir for the advice!!
