I don't think they'll ever be anybody as good as Lovecraft when it comes to cosmic type horror

He is the Master, Poetic and deep sense of fear he creates in his words, is more terrifying honestly.

There's also a few great things going for H.P. Lovecraft to consider that makes him a really strong contender of unreplacement, not to be confused with replaceable, meaning because of these factors he will also stand out at the head of the genera, but there are some great horrifying cosmic stories that people who like or, or love.... Howard Phillips can also enjoy, would he like them? I think he would have been flattered that someone else was taking on and jumping in with him, you have to remember he died pretty much alone and not as a well known author.
He suffered tremendously, and to be writing a lot and getting very little return when everything around you is gothic Horror no one was doing freaky stuff like Lovecraft which is why it was hard to publish he didn't write in the known genera at the time this it was considered tough to sell, who was the demographic?
Had he been alive now, he'd probably get published and have notoriety and even fame, but he wouldn't have stuck out like the sore thumb 👍 notice it's up, as he did, so much so his works carried his soul in the vast pages of time.
His word choices are heavy and luxurious, he isn't using big words to look fancy, something I think most writers including myself have been guilty of, if not then you haven't been writing long enough to branch out and try. His larger words are like small islands that string across a cast open darkness where the smaller easier words are well knitted together like the making of a heirloom blanket.
The cat was struggling to breath as it's meow sounded choked, and the pain it must have experienced by it's missing flesh is not something we can not understand.
The Bombay once slick as oil fur, now transparent and gave rough gargle that poured out its insidious mouth that once projected a song full praise, now stands to only soil the air with its foal breath of death.
The cat once loved and welcomed by the guests of the farm, now they flee in terror as this once vessel created by nature, now twisted putrid and body translucent marvel held only the dying shape of its formation and glory, the meow song sung still but this praise hurt the ears, sickens the stomach, and dooms the soul, and had it not been for its eyes to set and bath a glow like the portals of glory itself, all eyes would not have seen the unending flow of the black liqueur like liquid licorice come forth its mouth like vomiting it's old chell.
Three descriptions of a pour transformed kitty cat, each becoming more and more horrifying, heavy handed in a poetic theme without being necessarily horrifying at the same time, it's a fun exercise to try and write something simple and then running it through a Lovecraft filter so to speak.
No, not as good Lord knows, not anything like Lovecraft exactly, but it's close, I whipped that up in 5 min or less, imagine what a week would look like or 6 months.
Is it good? I'd say needs work but it's not bad either, it can be ready, it goes a long the lines and is a good rendition, a fair attempt. But will it replace him?
No. Thankfully no it will not, not I nor anyone can even in today's arena, but, is there interesting concepts, ideas, in the cosmic horror, absolutely.
I work where someone of 12 years old on up can understand what I'm trying to say, but I don't think a 12 yo should be reading my cosmic horror.
And I do from time to time put something down that poetic in nature a feeling or meaning through a series of words.
Her hands swept through the sheets going into and past the boarders of his side now cold and empty, her left hand still holds the wedding ring upon the alter of her finger.
You get several things and emotions from this, is it Lovecraft, nope, not exactly but it's still poetic and holds many feelings and you get what's going on. That's from a book I wrote titled "Eyes Iris" I'm shopping next year, the story about a blind woman who learns she isn't living alone after her husband's murder.
My point is each writer has his or her own fingerprint so to speak, and just like real fingerprints there can be similarities, but no two are exactly alike.
No one will ever fully replace Lovecraft, King, Stolker, Knootz, or the like, but there will be very good tales in the light of, not clones or copies, but original works and because we writers read, you really should be reading or at least listening on audio at the very least, authors who work in genres you like to work in, some of their how would you put it, Written DNA will transfer through, and carried on.
I'm sorry for typos, this was written on my phone, not a lot of easy room to edit, I do thank you for reading if you made it this far. Always Reading, be safe and be well. 🖤

@@dadtype2339 you have just elaborated my approach to visualizing what the writters write, growing up in the 1980s imagination was one of the things we could extract from books and graphic illustrated novels.........hence a passion for animation always near to my heart now realized 40 years later, passion for music converted into my original sound designs for everything I make. King, Koontz, Straub certainly were influenced by lovecraft, and Stolker is a flavor all on its own. all authors among my favorites.

@@dadtype2339 I do also believe, Lovecraft's imagination was far ahead of any writers for the genre he was writing for almost as if meant for the future generations, the great thing is, his writings reflect the 19th century flavor but describing futurisitic and things in the realms of space and time in a manner no one can truly mimic, its a very unique writing style.
