- The Magnificent Florida Keys | How Do Tarpon get so Big? | Plenty of Sunshine and Beaches - We spent this day driving from southern Florida to Key West with a number of short hikes and walks on the beach. Robbies of Islamodara was a special stop where we saw giant tarpon from the docs.

Looks like you had beautiful weather in the keys. We loved our visit to Key West in February.
We only spent a day drivng out and back in a day. Did some nice hikes on different keys and enjoyed the beach and views. We were there shortly after you at the end of February.
Those were some big fish. Looks so sunny and nice in the keys
The tarpon were huge. Was fun getting close up to the pelican as well.

The tarpon were huge. Will be heading to VA in about a month to do the VA triple crown.

O my goodness those pelicans lol
😅That one pelican wanted me to feed him and was very bold. They don't want you to feed the birds which is why there's a net to drop fish down to feed the tarpon which keeps it away from the pelicans.
Love this Ken! Thought you was going to lose your GoPro to that Pelican. The Calypso music was awesome. I'm trying to catch up on my favorite UA-cam channels. God bless you buddy!

Wow, that's really beautyful out there! Mangroves sure don't need much to grow! I'm not much of a beach person, but this really looks lovely to spend a few hours!

Thanks Kaatje! Like you, I'm not much of a beach person but do enjoy walks along the shore and the beauty of the different shades of blue and green in the water and sky. And of course, a road trip with Sue is always special!
Do they let people still feed the tarpon? Beautiful shots. What fun! Were the royal Poinciana trees in bloom. They are gorgeous.
Yes, you can feed the tarpon through the net otherwise the pelicans get the fish. We didn't feed them but watched others doing it. Don't believe we saw the Royal Ponciana in bloom but did see a lot of flowers. Thanks Shirley
We went to Key West while on a cruise about 10 years ago. We loved it there (we went in November). You captured the natural beauty of the area. 😊 We may need to go back!

@@bestillonthetrail234 we always talk about going back there at the same time of year...it's quieter and less touristy then, but still warm enough to swim, boat, etc. We rented a golf cart and just tooled around the island. Great memories for sure!

Thanks Rerun! That Pelican was bold and kept coming towards me. It was probably used to stealing bait people give to the tarpon and thought my GoPro was a small fish.
