This movie looks so cinematically pleasing. Love the gothic look Ik Gotham is supposed to look like that off the bat but you can’t deny there’s much more artistic style when it comes to this iteration and I love it. The end where Robert takes off the mask and his hair just looks super ‘08 senior yr American Highschool I love it.

Super excited for this. I hope Reeves gets a full trilogy. His Planet of the Apes films were so good. They had great pacing and character development. I really hope Reeves gets the chance to do a deep dive on Two-Face. I would love to see a movie dedicated to the Bruce/Harvey, Batman/Two-Face duality. I feel like that whole dynamic was really rushed in the Nolan movies.
The Apes movies are one of the best trilogies Hollywood has ever put out. Reeves is a talented director for sure. He knows how to tell a human story; flawed heroes that you still can believe in. All the while consistently delivering visceral, emotional visuals. I feel like if this new Batman is really successful, Reeves will bring us a Batman trilogy that could best Nolan's. Which even less than 2 years ago no one thought that would ever be possible.
Keeping in mind he had nothing to do with the first film. But his two sequels are superb for the reasons you mention. The apes films is in that small category of trilogies that kept it's quality throughout.

This is the Batman I’ve been waiting for. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all fantastic movies. But THIS is so gritty and dark. THIS is how Batman has meant to be played.

The Nolanverse had its flaws, but it was iconic and had a big influence on how people thought about the character and even movies in general. It felt a little more grounded and real than previous entries in the franchise. You could take apart the gadgets, the plot and the characters and they made sense to a certain point. They didn't lean into the cartoonish, comic book logic that other entries depended upon so heavily. An intelligent person could look at them critically and see how they might work in real life. I wouldn't say that other parts of the franchise were bad, per se. You just have to judge them on their own merits. The Nolanverse was good on its own merits.

If they flood the market with live action Batman movies year after year, it's hard to maintain quality and people start to lose interest. Too much supply and a drop in perceived quality leads to a decrease in value. If they released this movie the year after the last Batman film, there would be problems. People just saw a Batman film and don't feel like buying a movie ticket to see a new one, they don't like the new actors cast versus the old ones, etc. If they let enough time pass to let people's memories of the previous films cool a bit, the new film will be better received by the audience.
It's feels so good that every Batman since Bale's Batman still feels so refreshing after every take they give the character. This one is Batman but definitely feels different.
If the Riddler were to reveal it, it would ruin the game. He has to beat Batman on his terms. Exposing him means everyone and their mother would be interfering with that.

DC experienced this "no one could play situation" with Christopher Reeve Superman when Brandon Routh cast as Superman, almost all reeves fans mad, but they managed to break this situation, and then Cavill Man of steel. I personally love RDJ his performance as Tony stark is like Reeves Superman, they both set bar for this character so high. But the thing is i like to see Iron Man, Wolverine, Black Panther in the future God Knows when. After Dark Knight trilogy i can't see myself loving another Batman, but hey Affleck done pretty good with Snyder storyline. And excited to see Pattinson Batman. And Sony successfully did it too with their Spiderman, we have 3 actors play Spiderman.
The man was Iron Man for 11 years and he fit the role like a glove. Batman hasn't had that kind of perfect casting. DC in general hasn't had it save for Henry Cavill as Superman and I'm tempted to say Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

I see a lot of people complaining about Robert Pattinson being the new Batman. I remember the same thing when they announced Health Ledger as the Joker. I have high hopes for Robert.
I like how he still has the eyeliner whenever he takes off the mask. Really shows that this Bruce Wayne is trying really hard to look the part of being Gotham's "The Batman", which is a good thing. Behind the mask is an unstable and scared kid trying very hard to look like his idea of "scary". I think that's a very good representation of a younger Batman.
I think you’re overanalysing it. The eyeliner doesnt vanish when he takes off the mask because they want it to be different from other iterations of live action batmen where whenever bruce takes off his cowl, the eyeliner magically disappears but then reappears when he puts the mask back on

This is the Batman I’ve been waiting for. Don’t get me wrong, they’re all fantastic movies. But THIS is so gritty and dark. THIS is how Batman has meant to be played.

The Nolanverse had its flaws, but it was iconic and had a big influence on how people thought about the character and even movies in general. It felt a little more grounded and real than previous entries in the franchise. You could take apart the gadgets, the plot and the characters and they made sense to a certain point. They didn't lean into the cartoonish, comic book logic that other entries depended upon so heavily. An intelligent person could look at them critically and see how they might work in real life. I wouldn't say that other parts of the franchise were bad, per se. You just have to judge them on their own merits. The Nolanverse was good on its own merits.
@@leahscontemporary Maybe it is. The laws of supply and demand apply to movies, just as they do to any product. If they flood the market with live action Batman movies year after year, it's hard to maintain quality and people start to lose interest. Too much supply and a drop in perceived quality leads to a decrease in value. If they released this movie the year after the last Batman film, there would be problems. People just saw a Batman film and don't feel like buying a movie ticket to see a new one, they don't like the new actors cast versus the old ones, etc. If they let enough time pass to let people's memories of the previous films cool a bit, the new film will be better received by the audience.

It's feels so good that every Batman since Bale's Batman still feels so refreshing after every take they give the character. This one is Batman but definitely feels different.

Burton's was dark but campy, Nolan's was realistic and grounded, Snyder's was brutal and dark, Reeves Batman is just fucking nuts, rich and nuts.

The Batman saga really needs a portrayal of Batman as a truly broken human being. Multi-billionnaire, yes, but he needs to be Dark. He needs to be less "super-hero-ish" and more... dark and ominous as a saviour archetype.
And I feel this seems to offer that. It seems to offer a much darker portrayal of Batman. More violent. More heavy. More raw and uncomfortable.

I have a feeling that this Batman movie will have the best rewatch value. From the trailer it looks brutal and action packed + Rob Pattinson's Batman seems to be the most pissed off and fast paced out of all the other live action Batmen.

DC experienced this "no one could play situation" with Christopher Reeve Superman when Brandon Routh cast as Superman, almost all reeves fans mad, but they managed to break this situation, and then Cavill Man of steel.
I personally love RDJ his performance as Tony stark is like Reeves Superman, they both set bar for this character so high.
But the thing is i like to see Iron Man, Wolverine, Black Panther in the future God Knows when.
After Dark Knight trilogy i can't see myself loving another Batman, but hey Affleck done pretty good with Snyder storyline. And excited to see Pattinson Batman.
And Sony successfully did it too with their Spiderman, we have 3 actors play Spiderman.
The man was Iron Man for 11 years and he fit the role like a glove. Batman hasn't had that kind of perfect casting. DC in general hasn't had it save for Henry Cavill as Superman and I'm tempted to say Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

I like how he still has the eyeliner whenever he takes off the mask. Really shows that this Bruce Wayne is trying really hard to look the part of being Gotham's "The Batman", which is a good thing.
Behind the mask is an unstable and scared kid trying very hard to look like his idea of "scary". I think that's a very good representation of a younger Batman.
I think you’re overanalysing it. The eyeliner doesnt vanish when he takes off the mask because they want it to be different from other iterations of live action batmen where whenever bruce takes off his cowl, the eyeliner magically disappears but then reappears when he puts the mask back on
Nah, they always use the eyeliner - the hair probably messy like in this trailer too. But the different is they never show that like this movie does.
