Teamfight Pentakill: One Little Mistake...

  • The endgame is when every move is vital. One single mistake can cause a cascade of even more mistakes, and can ultimately cost you the game.
Xerath didn't entirely do anything wrong, here, but he has a disadvantage against Janna. His Q slows him down in the bottleneck into the base, and Janna's Q benefits greatly from a slow-moving target and a narrow firing line. I was firing blindly, and ended up hitting the most vital target. In a teamfight, Xerath is an artillery piece. Three of his four skills hit multiple targets, and his damage is such that he can blow up most fragile targets in a single salvo.
His first mistake was moving parallel to get out of Jhin's ult range, rather than moving behind Thresh, who was at full HP and is the dedicated tank. If he did, then he may have lived, and Thresh has enough meat on him to take Jhin's final shot without issue.
Thresh tried to save Xerath by going directly for Jhin, sacrificing himself needlessly AND in vain, as Xerath was already dead by the time his hook landed. Two champions dead in less than five seconds. Bel'veth didn't survive much longer without a meaty wall in front of her, and I had already advised my team to save Nasus for last because of how problematic he was that entire game.
