John Williams can not be from this planet. This is from another galaxy. "When he showed me Schindler's List," says Williams, "I was so moved I could barely speak. I remember saying to him, 'Steven, you need a better composer than I am to do this film.' And he said, 'I know, but they're all dead.' " - John Williams
This music is a stark reminder of man's brutality towards humanity, and I fear the worse is to come unless Putin and Obama or his replacement cannot work together as before, a third world war will leave all wars pale into insignificance unless mankind can take stock of what Total War means? Tears roll down my cheeks as to the horror of this film, how can a Mother decide who they should take fro her in the line of human separation, and that message should be made clear to these Leaders to stop the killing in Syria, work together for the good of mankind!
The poignancy of the suffering of the Jewish people at the hands of an incredibly evil madman and his henchmen is beautifully conveyed by Perlman and Williams in this haunting piece. No words could adequately describe the horrors inflicted nor the beauty of this song. This performance is a masterpiece to be treasured.
I have heard many a people play this...some hit the right beats, some play it quickly, some slowly...but none played to emotional perfection as by Perlman who gave his soul to it. You see, for it to transcend it was played deeply and profoundly from the heart with a master playing on the perfect violin 🎻 and with all elements perfectly aligned into a timeless masterpiece with the emotional precision of a watchmaker hitting what one's imagination heart and mind wanted.
Hauntingly beautiful. Perlman plays this with such emotion, you can almost feel the suffering and agony in the music composed by John Williams. I will always say that Schindler's List is one of the best movies I've ever seen and one I never want to see again.
I feel exactly the same. One of the best, in a technical sense - from the script to the black/white film to the symbolism, to the direction and performances - that I have ever seen. And I never want to see it again.
Dean Niforos agree 100%. A stunningly, haunting piece of cinema so beautifully and humbly handled and with the greatest music score every written. Every time I hear this piece it brings me to tears.
I never knew, before this, that John Williams was Jewish. How could he not be, and compose something so sublime, so heart-wrenching? (To forestall all the replies that he's not, this was a gentle joke, as to say, John is my brother, or at least my cousin. Shalom and l'chaim!)
Mr. Williams is an incredible composer in every sense. This composition is beyond words. I can't hear it without crying. Even without thinking about the film(which is almost impossible). Itzhak's interpretation is breathtaking. It all comes together to help us all to remember the victims and to never let the memory die so it can NEVER happen again!!
+Steve Wright Yes....I rarely listen to this without tearing up. I do that for the victims this piece commemorates. Also, for Pearlman and that he has given his life for the beauty of the violin....and we, each of us, are the benefactors.
Every time I listen to this music I feel like I’m slowly suffocating from how beautiful it is. The music makes my flesh feel like it’s burning to ashes and then smoked out into the heavens. Bravo John Williams. Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱
Thank you Mr. Perlman AND Mr. Williams for touching our hearts with this hauntingly beautiful heartfelt piece of heaven. I will never forget the first time I saw this film, and it's music touches my heart today. I will never forget!
Mary Schultz , Miss Mary that is so beautifully written. I am in total agreement with you Dear❤️. Thank you for allowing me to find a kindred spirit. Stay well. 🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹❤️🌹
The moment of silence as the music dies out, and the emotion hangs in the air is unreal. The most beautiful silence you can ever hear. Almost deafening.
the power of this composition is beyond words, just that it evokes deep feelings of sadness and thought in me every time I hear it, when you add pictures to it then it becomes so poignant I just am rendered emotionally drained. It is perfection I feel.
How fortunate we are to have such enormous talent present in a single performance. From inception to the final triumph, the piece and its human components glow with unearthly light. Williams with his pen and baton, Perlman with his bow, both demonstrating how far true genius can take music. Williams has written notes that will outlive us all; Perlman has released the full voice of the Stradivarius and molded it to magic.
As a daughter of a Holocaust survivor I can say with full confidence that there have never been words invented by humans to express and try to explain the Holocaust. .
I noticed that too...Williams probably wanted to give absolute dominance to solo violin in that moment, by keeping down orchestra's dynamics. A very nice touch and very respectful to that specific one time performance.
Brilliant! There is no silence more profound than those five seconds at the end. Every person has been transported to their own private place of thought by the performance. A pristine example of the power of music!
All hats off and kudos paid to Mr Perlman, no one plays this so beautifully and perfectly. Many take it too fast or hesitantly, or even drop notes, and if so the poignancy and cadence is clearly lost, you can almost hear the violin crying when he plays this. Sheer perfection to that last drawn out sweet high heart wrenching note, a standing ovation, truly well deserved! Mr Williams wanted the best, chose and got the best. Thank you Mr Williams and Mr Perlman both for this superb piece of awesome violin music. My personal favourite short piece of classical music ever, and with so much beautiful classical music out there, I certainly do not say this likely!
I cannot read Hebrew.... but I can only imagine the words and pain, as tears just roll down my cheeks. I came here to learn this tune again, so I could play it into the night here in Richland, WA. So no one ever forgets......
Keith Howard , Well Keith this is what what happens when you bring 2 of the greatest minds for music together. Something hauntingly beautiful. I just love captivated the audience is because it a little while before they applaud. 👍😁👍😁👍😁👍😁
I keep coming back to this, nothing compares to listening to this great masterpiece with the composer, John Williams conducting, and the master violinist, Itzhak Perlman playing~! Interesting to see the cameo of Roger Ebert at the very end.
What a beautiful, sad and emotional piece of fiddle music! Itzhak Perlman plays it so wonderfully! I am trying to learn it on my fiddle but I keep not being able to see the music for the tears in my eyes! :-)
Me too. I get through about 4 or 5 measures and have to stop, just because I start thinking of my family that died in the Holocaust. Maybe one day I will be able to get through the whole song before I tear up. Best of luck with the practice.
WOW! Oh boy. Makes all my hairs stand on end every time I hear this wonderful lilting piece of music. As +Pam Aherne describes it so well below - heartbreakingly beautiful. First time I've heard it and seen it by the men who originally recorded it. Would so like to shake both of them warmly by the hand. Thank you so much +Martyprod2 for the upload.
Itzhak Perlman, a masterful violinist, playing the music of a masterful composer, John Williams, has been able to put emotion into music in a way that no one else has ever been able to do, Baruch HaShem. this song tells an important part of the story of my people. May we never forget what happened, and in as much, Be'ezrat HaShem, never repeat it. Amein.
The difference between stradivarius violin and others is clearly seen in this kind of composition. I don't think this masterpiece would be equally achieved with non stradivarius violin. I've listened other who play this composition, while they're mostly very skillful violinist but there is X factor from Itzhak Perlman play that can't be explained. The magic of stradivarius.
Orisonmarden Nope, studies showed that stradivarius violin and cello are not the 'by far best instrument ' people think they are and are often worst than instrument way cheaper on blind listening.
I'm not a very emotional person, but this makes me cry every time I hear it. Everyone should be made to see Schindler's List then, just maybe, some people would think before enacting violence towards anyone else in this terrible world. If it were to save just one life...
No one beats Itzak Perlman, haunting, in this theme. The violin itself is warm and rich in tone, that completes the emotions in the hands of a master,
John Williams can not be from this planet. This is from another galaxy.
"When he showed me Schindler's List," says Williams, "I was so moved I could barely speak. I remember saying to him, 'Steven, you need a better composer than I am to do this film.' And he said, 'I know, but they're all dead.' " - John Williams
that's why in the movie the most popular that he scored at the beginning it's written "in a galaxy far far away" ;)
Lol Steven was like," I know but they're all dead!."
Its a nice way of saying "you are best composer alive today"
@@LordofOnionRings what's a mean way of saying that?

John Williams is a genius, Itzhak Perlman a maestro. Breathtaking.
Every time I can’t stop crying, this music breaks my heart.
Yes. I agree with you.
Perlman, the greatest violinist of our time. The silence when the music dies says everything.
I don't care how many times I hear this.... I am always shedding a tear. It's hauntingly beautiful.... there are no words to describe.... 💙
Can’t say it enough, the best musical score in cinema history
Can ANY music make the listener weep like this piece? Itzhak Perlman is a genius! John Williams is a genius!
Hauntingly beautiful. Perlman plays this with such emotion, you can almost feel the suffering and agony in the music composed by John Williams. I will always say that Schindler's List is one of the best movies I've ever seen and one I never want to see again.

I completely agree with you two. However as a filmmaker myself, I watch it every year because of its technical perfection.
Dean Niforos agree 100%. A stunningly, haunting piece of cinema so beautifully and humbly handled and with the greatest music score every written. Every time I hear this piece it brings me to tears.
Dean Niforos You’ve summed it up perfectly. The most difficult film I’ll ever watch.
Dean Niforos true but I want to see it more though.
I never knew, before this, that John Williams was Jewish. How could he not be, and compose something so sublime, so heart-wrenching? (To forestall all the replies that he's not, this was a gentle joke, as to say, John is my brother, or at least my cousin. Shalom and l'chaim!)
John Williams was being modest. He has composed much of the film themes for many decades. All well known and memorable.
Chyba najpiękniejsza muzyka jaką kiedykolwiek słyszałem .Dziękuje.

Couldn't agree more. It is a piercing piece of music and brings tears to my ears knowing what it represents.
Never again a reality.
+Steve Wright Yes....I rarely listen to this without tearing up. I do that for the victims this piece commemorates. Also, for Pearlman and that he has given his life for the beauty of the violin....and we, each of us, are the benefactors.
yet Rwanda happens a year after the movie releases and nobody really bats an eye. its sad
sadly nowadays we have more genocides and we are not doing anything about it :(
A song that brings out beauty from suffering.
Please elaborate.

Incredibly moving given the context. Thank you John Williams and Mr. Perlman for keeping the memories of those 6 million souls in our consciousness.
It encapsulate Jewish experience for the past 2000 years.
Let us never forget. . . how could we w/ this beautiful piece of music to remind us! God bless you John Williams & Itzhak Pearlman.
goosebumps, everywhere. tears too! I hear the ghosts of 6 million in this piece.
Heartbreakingly beautiful
This score haunts me and am not ashamed to cry --- especially be Perlman. when i hear it played.
there is no shame in crying. Music is emotion and crying is an emotion. Yes, this score touched a lot of people.
He makes the violin cry, and you can feel the emotion he puts in playing the music. A truly gifted man, and a gift to all of us.
This always makes me cry...so so sad :-( also a very sad time in history...we should never forget!!!
Oh but we do jinny don't we? You forgot the very next day ...
No one else can play this like Itzak Perlman. The most emotional music as if from another realm.
The moment of silence as the music dies out, and the emotion hangs in the air is unreal. The most beautiful silence you can ever hear. Almost deafening.
I'm confident that history will record Perlman as the greatest violinist of our time.
