you were talking about the weight difference between the 40" nitto and the 40" milestar, but what about the durability? how thick are the sidewalls compared to each other? i want something that is going to take a beating without shredding a sidewall, so to me, the heavier tire seems like it would be more durable?
Those new wheels are beautiful as they are - leave them alone. As pointed out, WHEN you stuff them all you have to do is get out the polisher and elbow grease. "StepChild" will look fantastic!
I run the kmc machete beadlocks (no powder coating) and Ultimate Dana 60’s and have tore up the rings since I met you guys at KOH and love them! Best investment so far. I keep the scratches... memories. Plus I get more compliments on the wheel’s raw aluminum. Cleaner look
I bought a set of 35x12.5x15 inch Milestar Patagonias for my 1996 chevy k1500 with a 6 inch lift. First weekend I had them on we went rock crawling and trail riding. All I can say is OMG what a tire. While other rigs we’re struggling I was just walk right by them at about 15psi. Absolutely love my tires. And like y’all said, these tires are absolutely the quietest mud tire out there.
I just bought a 2019 rubicon last Monday and I put milestar Patagonia 40’s on mainly because I seen your video on the 38’s. So far I’m very pleased with them.
Kevin Williams yeah I’ve just started following you guys a few months ago and a few others. I have wanted a wrangler for a long time and I didn’t want one like any around my area. So I’ve set the bar high lol. People look at it like it’s a monster!
I actually learned a lot in this video. I have the same feathering problem in my TJ, as I run MT's. I've stuck with MT's after using them one time to help firefighters put out a forest fire near my parent's home. Re-gearing and the MT's got me from the base of the mountain in the swampy areas through the trees and trails, and up the steep side of the mountain to just yards from the inferno. I did this trip back and forth all day. I'll have to keep a more strict rotation schedule from now on. The problem is, the moment I rotate the back tires to the front, I get the infamous Jeep Death Wobble from 48 mph to about 55 mph. After that, it flattens out and gets smooth. It doesn't happen with new tires.
Guys I encourage you to look into the “rock slide engineering- step sliders.” If you’re going to 40’s it’ll make it much easier to enter and exit your rig. The gen2 are bolt on using factory mounting locations, with no drilling or rivets. Just put a set on my ride and I love them. And yes they are rated for rock sliding, protection and convenience.
I had multiple surgery’s on my terrible knees from 30+ years of competitive wrestling and coaching wrestling. The steps drop down a foot when I open the door and then retract into the slider where they’re protected when the door is closed. Makes it so much easier to get in and out of my Jeep. I know you guys are still young so climbing in even with 40’s Is still doable. This was a great video by the way, filled with good info. Keep them coming.
LiteBrite >>> thank you for posting this video with your very talented and knowledgeable motoring/"engine-ing" friend. You are doing both him and us, the consumers stuck at taking our vehicles to tire shops where they do not know anything they're doing, a favor. I have had nothing but bad luck with tire shops that do not know how to proper pattern to rotate tires, they take shortcuts out of laziness and do the improper thing, causing you the consumer to have to replace your tires more often. I have witnessed them "tighten" lug nuts not knowing the proper pattern, even leaving some completely loose; if you don't want this, definitely look into ZipTire!
Practical answer while still being slightly aesthetic? Powdercoat the centers some color, bronze might be nice, matte black is safe, spray the outer ring with your can of matte black Rustoleum clear.
Guys, no tire clears mud very well... even aggressive mud tires. Fast wheel spin is the only way to clear your lugs in mud. Good luck from muddy Florida.
This. I wheel in the midwest (ohio) and some of the sticky mud we have here, i've not seen any tire clear well without goosing the throttle. If its the type of sticky crap that adds 10lbs to your shoes by walking 20 ft, then its going to do the same to any tire, period.
Red anodized spokes, raw alum bead ring!!! Or at least body color red - that’s your brand! Thanks to you guys I have 38” Pats and KMC 229 with red hubring like TrailRecon’s I picked up from Off-road Evolution. Awesome setup. Replaced heavy loud stiff 10ply Nittos. I didn’t like the MP tread at first now I love them for what they are. I heard “I only do V8’s” ;) Great tire video.
the entire time i was looking at how the porshe was jacked up, i was almost having anxiety because the jack was so far out from under the car! then i saw the porshe voodoo lifting point and it all made sense.
I am completely sold on the milestars having done a crapton of research. You guys simply etified my research. Best mud/terrains on the market at this pricepoint. And I do think they look 'sexy', lol.
Actually after my sexual innuendo comment earlier , I really do appreciate you feeling the responsibility to put out content every few days even when it’s not what you had originally planned. People like us really look forward to your videos, and very much appreciate the fact that you feel the responsibility to provide that content to us in a consistent and timely manner. So thank you. 😀
MPs work really well on and off road. Just ran the Chinaman Gulch on Wednesday and they performed really well on my TJ (37s) and a buddies 73 FJ Land Cruiser (35s). I ran them at 9 psi with BL. As for your wheels I'd say red PC and leave the ring alone. Thanks for the videos!
This is one of the best info in the vids you ever had!!!! I worked for Wal-Mart for 11 years and over 2 was at TLE Tire Lube center. I do 100s of tires and it good to see and show what I had to do. LOVE it!!! haha ps wal-mart did not do bed lock eather!!! o ya RED on wheels would look good!!!
Everything you said about tire weight was correct. And coming from the drifting world I can see why you said it. Plus if you drive your Jeep on the street you need to be concerned with rotational mass etc. But for off road, a heavier tire can be better, as long as that weight is in the right place. More rubber in the side walls will make a heavier tire, but one also more resistant to sidewall tears and punctures. If you have a rig that is trailered or a rig that isn't daily driven I wouldn't worry as much about the weight of the tires as their overall construction and what use I was going to put them to.
Awesome video... great review of the tires and so much info about tires...Andrew is awesome just like you 2 . One of your best videos... looking forward to your next videos...Safe travels
Congrats on the 40's Kev, Andrew at ZipTire 844-Zip-Tire thanks for the stand-up. Thank you for all the videos and looking forward to seeing the new shoes on the Jeep.
SRT 6.4 hemi and trackhawk 8speed trans with 500hp and 500tq and Dynatrac 60/80 axle setup and 40s That’s going to be sweet. Can’t wait till it’s done. So jealous now 🤯 Woohoo
Ive got a family friend who works for hunter, and they make tire mounting stuff so he has a trailer in his driveway with all the mounting stuff and it saves me so much money on mounting and balancing lol
The gap between the tread lugs aren't the only things shrinking. As for the wheels... leave them be, they'll match your aluminum trailer. Plus it's nice to have some contrast against the red and black. I thought for sure we were going to see JLE strapped to a tire for the outro.
I have been wondering about the Patagonia tires. Thanks for doing the review. It was refreshing to see so much accurate and useful information. On our race cars a lot of money is spent to reduce rotating mass. Down to gun drilled titanium axle and transmission shafts and aluminum lug nuts. One thing to remember, the further from center the more significant the resistance is, so a lighter tire is more important than a lighter wheel. One thing you did not mention is unsprung weight. The weight fastened below the suspension must be controlled by the suspension. The further it is from the suspension the more leverage it has on the suspension. You did touch on this indirectly when mentioning the lack of failures. It directly affects the performance and ride quality. I have spent a large portion of my life running log skidders and doziers and other equipment. The pay depends on production, often at the outside limits of what the machine can do. One thing I have learned is new deep tread or tracks is often not the best performance. Weight balance/distribution and contact area are the most critical. Rarely is a sharp edge going to catch something strong enough to keep you moving. Not nearly as often as it is going to paddle the material out from under you. If you are really serious about tread keeping traction off road, it needs to be steel as in bolted tires, chains or grousers. Chains will go through mud better than any bogger.
I can't thumbs up this video enough. Two, maybe three of my favorite things. Jeeps, Porsche's and tires. I love all of the Lite Brite videos. But oddly even though I am mainly a off roader, this video was super entertaining.
Don't leave the rims all shiny.I learned a lot from Andrew just watching this. What an awesome person. I would so love to meet him in person. Thanks for a great video!!
LoL I don't think you want a girl friend Kevin , Brittany is a unicorn !! I'm from the East coast and those tires have impressed the hell out of me for all the insane wheeling you do and how well they perform .. lots of love guys!!
The person that called him a moron must've been having a bad day. This dude is an OG I have mad respect for him and he's so humble my new found role model.
I got to learn about lift throttle oversteer first hand with my old Toyota MR2. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it would have been in a Porsche since the engine is in front of the rear tires but it did let me know that driving a car with the engine behind you is a whole different sort of animal then what most people are used to.
I have Cooper STT pros on my JK. I love them, great on the highway, awesome on our heavy Michigan snow. Outstanding in Colorado sand dunes, super grippy in Moab.
Wow, Andrew has 5 degrees, knows more about wine than almost everyone, along with rally car and off road racing, does stunt driving and has a cool mobile tire shop. Simply an amazing person.
When your tires are mounted the lug gap increases ever so slightly. Possibly the difference of what you are comparing. Just a thought. Nice job man, love your stuff.
Truth be told, from the pictures she has posted on her social media, to the bikini videos. I think Brittany enjoys modeling quite a bit, and isn't too bothered by the attention from fans … in general. Of course, there's always that _one person_ who takes it too far. But in general, I think she's having fun with it. 😃
in a world filled with black wheels, keep them Lite Brite ! I have KMC Machettes in Brite aluminum with bead locks and It looks so cool on my Bittet Siver JKUR ! I get so many complements on how clean and unique they look. Brite on Red will be awesome ! Any abrasion you will get on your lock rings will be your badge of courage ! Plus you can use a file to take down the burrs and flash that does occur especially with how hard you guys rock. Stay Brite Lite Brite ! Mouuwwaaa !!! (blown kiss)
I have only recently started watching your videos. I have been enjoying them for sure. As far as the Milestar Patagonia M/T tires, I have run the 33 inch tires for the past 3 years on my Ford F150 and the same on a Dodge 2500 I previously owned and now on my Dodge 3500 dually. I went to them because of price. I like you guys use my trucks. I am a pipeliner and I am constantly off road in various conditions. I have gotten up to 40,000 miles out of them by keeping my tires properly inflated and rotating them every 5000 miles. I am completely sold on them and will keep purchasing them as long as they manufacture them. When I can I plan to increase the lift height on my 02 F150 to go to 35 inch tires. They will be Patagonia tires. I love what you guys do although I am building my Ford for overlanding. I can't wait at least to visit some b of the places you guys have in your videos, especially Utah. Love you guys. Stay safe with this virus thing. Good bye from Louisiana!
I learned that I would like to start a mobile tire service started. Perfect for me because my super obsessive ocd would work great for those who want there tires properly balanced/installed.
I am so glad you explained the difference of weight of the wheel, I have tried to explain to friends that a heavy wheel robs horsepower, I dropped wheel weight by 20# and had huge power increase to where I could feel the difference... new subscriber here
I love my Mickey Thompson STZ's zero road noise yet deep tread lugs and killer capabilities on most any surface excelling best on snow but with a mud tire look with side treads... Cheap too!
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 right, I have the STZ or "snowterrain" while the MTZ or "mud terrain" are two very different tires.... Do a quick Google image search for the stz's and you will see the ones I have, much deeper lugs and although they look to be less aggressive of a tire they are insanely capable on any surface mounted on my Yukon Denali.... I was pushing snow up over the hood the first winter I got them and I was still only in 2wd
According to the Milestar website the 40’s weigh about 88lbs and according to Nittos website there 40 weighs 103.7lbs that’s a 15lb difference that’s crazy!!
How many miles did you put on the 38's and how much wear did it put on them?. Also, How many miles did you put on the Stepchild before the motor crapped out on you?
do you mind going to another video and getting my back on that haha, i said the exact same thing pretty much word for word and people lost their minds, they got so angry. ( the rim, tire, wheel thing)
I use kittens W/velcro booties for extra traction, found out bunnies are too sloppy!!😜 Power coat adds weight too, for more mass in rotation! Pretty wheels are for the street anyway! 🤷♂️ I have new ko2’s on cool wheels & Mt’s (usually used) on stock Moab’s
I'd do the center red like your jeep or bright orange but leave the beadlock natural. Great tire info.I faded out for a min and came to with you in the back of tire truck. I was going crazy trying to figure out where I've seen the tire guy before. Boom the Model T guy,Duh.
Coming from a technical racing background, I hope everyone watching this understands how sharp this tire guy in the van is. This is legacy racer knowledge that's swiftly going away. A true expert of his craft.
Laughing out loud when Brit was taking it to you on running on aired down tires Kev! “Ah, yeah, eh.” Great response mate! Mind you, not as if Brit allowed you to get out in front of her story telling despite you trying. She’s tough! Great review. Oh and I’d leave the outer ring alone as it’ll be a real pain having to keep touching that up. But red spokes and back/red in the center. Gotta color match. I’ve seen it on so many jeeps as I’m sure you have and it looks so cool. Yes Andrew is awesome Brit. Great to hear from someone who clearly knows his stuff. He could start his own channel on all things tires. Has the presence. I loved his “chasing the horizon” comment. I’m going to appropriate that! And yes I learned something about tires. Gooooo ZipTire!!!
Okay, glad I made it through the beginning and to the end. Andrew, The van guy's name. Legend. That's what I get for commenting while I watch. More of him please. Liking for now subscribing maybe later.
The DOT doesn't "approve" wheels. They issue a set of requirements with which wheels have to comply in order to be road legal. With that, you were correct that there are only 2 DOT compliant beadlock wheels. B. A. D. Eklipse and Hutchinson Rock Monsters.
Welcome to the club Kev. 40s bro!!! I think you might get more noise with 40s but I have really liked them. About 5k on mine. Thanks again for the recommendation.
Holy hell! Amazon lists the shipping weight of the Nitto at 106lbs, my Pro Comps Xtreme MT2s at 91lbs, and the Milestars at 82lbs (all 40x13.50r17). I may have to look at the Milestars when I wear out my Pro Comps.
Amazing video, many thanks for sharing! If somebody ever mounted tires and balanced wheels (!): It was a pleasure to listen to Andrew, he's doing a great job and it's a nightmare to watch the most guys doing so! And I'm a little bit scared about your 8-bolt-wheels ... :):):) and I'm definitively curious!
That was such a great video. So very cool. Can't wait to see what you're going to throw at the Stepchild next. As someone said below, I caught the 8 lugs too. Oh, by the way, a big thank you to ACP for commenting on the correct pronunciation of Porsche (PorshUH) Thank you! I even have friends that own them who say Porsh. Saying Porsh is akin to owning and spelling Camaro, CAMERO. Drives me nuts. You never hear someone say Fur air ee, although my brother and I call each other furr air ee, or Fee air uh, or Fiero, or Fee Ar ee. That's about enough about me. Come on Engine People!!!!!! Get that thing delivered so we can see a Lite Brite Engine unboxing video!
I am really fitting between MT/R Kevlars and the Patagonias... Plan to run one or the other in a 38". Based here in Ohio, we are constantly battling mud and moss covered rocks and I dont know if the Patagonia is aggressive enough... Uggghhhhh! Lol. Love the KMCs, I just picked up a set of Machetes today for my rig. I am leaving mine raw, no powder because they will be thrashed the first time out.
hi guys.....watching this video, noticed when you were highlighting those new aluminum wheels that they have MORE LUG NUTS!!!! guess it is safe to assume that you will be upgrading your axles..especially since going to the V8,and larger tires, you are anticipating a breakage problem, with the factory axles.....smart move,to address that issue right now....you sure aren't afraid to spend the money, lol, lol….good for you,..go for it...…..jb from chico,ca.

Hi
Amazing video again guys very informative! Keep up the great work!
Thanks guys!!

Great video guys. Also enjoyed Andrew's tire mounting and balancing info. He's a cool dude.
hav2win A very cool dude.
He has done things in his life that very few get to do.
Cool video. I been doing tires for over 25yrs America’s Tire. Still a tire tech.

Kevin Williams yeah I’ve just started following you guys a few months ago and a few others. I have wanted a wrangler for a long time and I didn’t want one like any around my area. So I’ve set the bar high lol. People look at it like it’s a monster!
Best guest expert ever!! Make sure you tell him he's awesome. 😊
Andrew has a great sense of humor and seems very humble, I can see why you and him are friends!
I actually learned a lot in this video. I have the same feathering problem in my TJ, as I run MT's.

Great job filling space with these videos and I will say Andrew is great. Great humor , ton of knowledge.
Guys, no tire clears mud very well... even aggressive mud tires. Fast wheel spin is the only way to clear your lugs in mud. Good luck from muddy Florida.
Gerry Harvey 🤔🤔
I'll tell you KO2s are worth a crap in mud even with wheel speed.
This. I wheel in the midwest (ohio) and some of the sticky mud we have here, i've not seen any tire clear well without goosing the throttle. If its the type of sticky crap that adds 10lbs to your shoes by walking 20 ft, then its going to do the same to any tire, period.

Yes. But it clears the mud from under the tire to EVERYTHING else! Haha

for the beadlock paint the inner wheel red then paint the outer ring black so its super easy for you guys to touch up or leave it bare
Just ordered new wheels and a set of Milestar Patagonia M/T because of you guys and Matt's off road recovery!
Those new wheels for the Stepchild would look killer blacked out!

What a knowledgeable guy!
Andrew is awesome, great fun personality just like you two.
He needs to start his own driving school / learn everything about tires haha! I love it! Ur so blessed to have meet him. And be in his circle
Andrew is so right about people not knowing how a balancer works, Great video
Andrew is a really cool guy, you guys so lucky to have him as a good friend
Don't leave the rims all shiny.I learned a lot from Andrew just watching this. What an awesome person. I would so love to meet him in person. Thanks for a great video!!

Andrew from Ziptire scheduled the mounted of my cooper LT285/65-17 AT3 LTs on my Chevy Avalanche. Great service!!!
Dear old dad... Love it
The person that called him a moron must've been having a bad day. This dude is an OG I have mad respect for him and he's so humble my new found role model.
I would do the center black and leave the lip shiny. Loved the info on everything keep the public announcements coming. Lol
You three made a great team for this video. Very informative and extremely entertaining.

Bull Dozer Definitely a great tire as well! We ran those on our 80 series Land Cruiser before we discovered the Milestars and how well they performed.
Wow, Andrew has 5 degrees, knows more about wine than almost everyone, along with rally car and off road racing, does stunt driving and has a cool mobile tire shop. Simply an amazing person.
Anyone else get a chuckle at the doggo's look of gowing horror as that tire slowly rolled in.. pup has seen some stuff hehe
38 minutes!? Holy cow. I’ll watch this on the way to the lake. Happy 4th!
Lol, I saw 38 minutes too I had to adjust my eyes. 38 minutes for a tire review? Ok, I will watch this after I go watch Spiderman tonight.
MyYTChannel How about “we like these tires, now here’s Brittany in tight clothes for half an hour!”
MyYTChannel Don’t worry, the review itself is about 17 min. The rest is just really entertaining tire knowledge from a pro. 😊🤙
When your tires are mounted the lug gap increases ever so slightly. Possibly the difference of what you are comparing. Just a thought. Nice job man, love your stuff.
Good luck with your new tires 🇨🇦
"I'm gonna have to tease you guys a bit longer" like she doesn't know she teases us in every video...
Tires? What tires? Did you see those abs? LOL!
! That's half the draw to this channel; and we all love it ! Thanks for putting up with us, Kevin. You're a mellow dude!
YES, and I love that about her!! lol
Yup
Awesome! Happy birthday America!
in a world filled with black wheels, keep them Lite Brite !
Andrew should have his own UA-cam channel not joking
You make that crop top for men......asking for a friend
Hopefully these come in a 4x soon.
Cheap too!
kevin auman I use to run those. Great tire. They are made by cooper
@@boughtnotbuiltoffroad7784 yeah I saw one of your old vids of them but didn't you run the mtz's not the stz?
kevin auman yes your are right. I had the mtz
I was pushing snow up over the hood the first winter I got them and I was still only in 2wd
enjoying your videos.....hhhmmmm 40's ....can't wait to see what you guys have planned for Step Child
According to the Milestar website the 40’s weigh about 88lbs and according to Nittos website there 40 weighs 103.7lbs that’s a 15lb difference that’s crazy!!
Soooo... just going to ignore the fact that Milestar sends you a paycheck?
Henry Blen you know that for a fact or are you just jealous that they get to do cool shit?
How many miles did you put on the 38's and how much wear did it put on them?. Also, How many miles did you put on the Stepchild before the motor crapped out on you?
8 bolt holes, somebody's going one ton axles? Btw tire means tires, rims means rims and wheels means tires mounted on rims for me anyway.
8 bolts means wontons are coming.
do you mind going to another video and getting my back on that haha, i said the exact same thing pretty much word for word and people lost their minds, they got so angry. ( the rim, tire, wheel thing)
@@yoyartube I love wontons!
Yeah. There is lots of broken shit in the future.
40 inch tires…HELLCAT BABY…!!!! 😊😊😊😊
crash devoe same thing I thought ❤️😂😍👌
Red spokes and natural beadlock. I think this is one of your best videos yet.
I use kittens W/velcro booties for extra traction, found out bunnies are too sloppy!!😜
Power coat adds weight too, for more mass in rotation! Pretty wheels are for the street anyway! 🤷♂️ I have new ko2’s on cool wheels & Mt’s (usually used) on stock Moab’s
Powder coat the spoke matte black. Leave the ring and or hub ring the aluminum.
I like the Blinggggg! Polished alloys look awesome.
I'd do the center red like your jeep or bright orange
but leave the beadlock natural.
Andrew is one cool dude! Just like Kev and Brit. Great video guys.
Powder coating the rim is for mall crawling only, it looks awesome on the 2nd floor of the parking garage.
Good thing they are only powder coating the inside right? Because they dont mall crawl
Jubeidono2012 hahahaha they could just raptor line it, looks good and strong
The DOT doesn't "approve" wheels. They issue a set of requirements with which wheels have to comply in order to be road legal.
With that, you were correct that there are only 2 DOT compliant beadlock wheels. B. A. D. Eklipse and Hutchinson Rock Monsters.
Andrew seems like a really down to earth guy. Nice!
Another great vid, guys! Cannot wait to see what you're dropping into and under the StepChild! Keep up the fantastic work!
Welcome to the club Kev. 40s bro!!!
I think you might get more noise with 40s but I have really liked them. About 5k on mine.
Thanks again for the recommendation.
Great detailed review of the milestars! Have been curious about these tires and the more information I can get the easier it is to make my decision.
Yep that look at the 22 min mark says it all, 8 bolt is on order for the Step Child....should be interesting!
I love my patagonia's on my truck they hold my 3000 pound camper and they work awesome in the mud too. Totally happy with them.
Hey Kevin and Brittany just put some milestar Patagonia mt on my jeep and I love them there awesome thanks love the chanel
Andrew Rojas awesome!
Holy hell! Amazon lists the shipping weight of the Nitto at 106lbs, my Pro Comps Xtreme MT2s at 91lbs, and the Milestars at 82lbs (all 40x13.50r17). I may have to look at the Milestars when I wear out my Pro Comps.
Andrew seems like a pretty cool dude, it’s awesome you two get to hang out with him..Great video, really enjoyed it.
Some seriously exciting changes coming along!! This was really enjoyable to watch, thanks again. ACP is a really cool guy.
I think I'd leave the wheel polished except for one slice of red across an edge to symbolize the "Red Headed Step Child" :)
Love Andrew...so helpful! And so funny. Totally neat guy!
Paul Ferrari hahahaha
