    That cop with the little boy who was electrocuted is so amazing. The officers treated him like he was their own child.
    When my kids were little my husband was the one that would get freaked if the kids got hurt. Me I was the calm one until they were taken care of and then when I was alone afterwards I would freak out. My husband asked me why I always freaked afterwards and I told him one of us has to be calm so the kids don’t freak.

      That's just like my mom! When I was a kid and split my knee open on a rock after falling from my bike, she remained calm while cleaning all the blood and bits of rock out of my knee, the entire ride back home, then to the hospital and held up until the doctor finished stitching my knee up. Once he told her I was fine, he pulled up a chair for her bc that's when she started going pale and tearing up. Moms are amazing

    for the folks who thinking that the woman in the 2nd video was being too calm, people react very differently in events like this. When bad shit happens my first reaction is often completely calm until the event is over. My emotions often "lag" until i'm in a space where I can actually think on what happened, I dissociate and shut down, it doesn't mean I'm not worried or that I don't care. Some people are very stoic, a lot of the time it's better to BE that stoic because freaking out can cause more issues. I only begin to panic when I realize it will /not/ be okay. It's important to keep your cool, some people struggle with that more and others don't. Someone being calm can greatly help the people around you. She's not "too calm" in a suspicious way, she's keeping her cool. I can actually see that she IS worried, you can tell that the longer the baby struggles the more that she paces, she's actively trying to remain calm and not be too outwardly panicked.
    A panicked person can make or break an event, but neither is a bad reaction. We all have different reactions to bad events. When I was a young I almost died from an asthma attack, I fainted with my mom in the room and my dad had to perform CPR while waiting for the ambulance, from what I was told he didn't start crying until AFTER I was in the hospital. Meanwhile my younger siblings were panicked and a few of them were 'calmer'. My grandma yelling on the phone with the ambulance (she's a lunatic she gets angry at everything so he being angry they werent there immediately was normal) and my mom was crying and at the same time trying to stop my siblings from panicking too much.
    All of those reactions make sense, the one person not freaking out as badly was able to focus on the task at hand, meanwhile, if someone is absolutely panicked, it's way harder for them to provide the proper help. It's not inherently suspicious seeing someone remain calm like that.

      @samc5877 27 днів тому +18

      I find this is particularly true in the cases of people or family members of those with chronic illnesses. You become accustomed to seeing things or being in certain situations, that other people might find extremely distressing, meaning that you look calm. The reality is that you know that panicking doesn't help, and your heart is in your mouth - often the reason for being quiet.

      This is really good insight for this video i think too, when the mom comes over at the end you can tell shes hysterical with fear and wouldnt have been helping the situation, grandpa was probably calling 911 while grandma waited for help outside, remaining calm so she can act to resolve the situation.

    • @emilymarek4714

      I absolutely agree with you! When my son was two, he slipped and fell on our fireplace, cutting a huge gash in his forehead.
      I always kept pillows against it, but he just happened to find the ONE spot that wasn’t completely covered. He’s 29 now, and I still feel guilty when I think about it.
      ANYWAY! I was an hysterical MESS, crying and shaking! But my mom completely kept it together.
      When we got to the emergency clinic (the closest place we could find), the doctor took one look at me, one look at my mom, and said to me, “You stay in the waiting room. Grandma, you come with us.”
      I actually felt relieved, because seeing him like that was causing a serious panic attack!
      When the nurses at the front desk saw me, they started asking me questions like, “What’s your son going to be for Halloween?” And, “So, are you taking him trick-or-treating?”
      Answering their questions calmed me, and when my son was finished, I realized what those nurses did for me.
      I was so thankful for that no-nonsense doctor, those compassionate nurses, and my very CALM mom!
      So, I completely understand that calm grandma. Someone has to be! ❤️

      @def_not_me406 there must be a live electrical wire somewhere within all of that police tape that he touched/grabbed.
      Here's a tip: if you ever want to check if an electric fence or something is live, DON'T! Just never do it. But if you're going to, never touch it with the palm side of your hand or fingers. The electricity will force your hand/fingers to close around the charged item and you'll just keep getting shocked without letting go. Instead, flick it quickly with your nails/the back of your fingers. That way, if you get shocked, you won't grab on.

      @@def_not_me406 Look up "i gotta get him warren officer risks life to save boy". Storm happened, power lines across the area ended up down, power company hadn't gotten to that particular downed line yet. There's conflicting information on whether local residents or the power company put up the caution tape, but a group of kids went through it anyway, and allegedly the boy that was electrocuted wanted to swing on the line like a rope swing since it was hanging about a couple feet off the ground. Allegedly his older brother used his bookbag to knock him off the power line and got slightly injured as well. I don't know if the last two parts are completely true. Regardless, he grabbed the wire and his brother tried to help him.

      It is nothing like in the movies.
      You might be able to learn how fast, but you will not learn which spot and how hard.
      If you have never practiced on a dummy, you will not be able to imagine how extremely hard you have to push and how exhausting it is.

    I just wanna say, before I even watch this video, how much I appreciate channels like yours. Videos like this have helped my own children avoid dangerous or predatory people while also giving them motivation to get off social media and "touch grass" lol. My daughters love your channel and recommended it to me and I've been obsessed ever since. Great, great job.

    When something heavy falls on a person's abdomen never give them anything to drink or move them. Do not allow them to sit up as they might have injured a artery or large vein in their abdomen causing serious bleeding. Wait until the ambulance arrives to assess their condition. This is 33 years working in a hospital talking.

      Yeah it made me nervous with him moving/walking around like that after they got him out. We should get them out from whatever is crushing them if we can, right? (no visible bleeding) I've been told that if there's active bleeding to not move the person or whatever fell on the person as it's keeping them from bleeding out (same logic with sharp objects, keep it in so it doesn't bleed more)

    5:22 for those questioning the grandmother for her lack of reaction. Try not to judge her too harshly, inside, that woman is absolutely panicking but on the outside, her gut reaction is to have no reaction as that is how her mind and body copes with traumatic situations. While you THINK you know the appropriate reaction, sometimes it just doesn’t work that way for everyone. She was able to explain calmly what happened which worked out in her child’s benefit as if she was historical, it would’ve created another obstacle for the officer and medics. You really don’t know how you will react to a situation like this until it happens and even then, sometimes you may scream and cry, other times you will become apathetic. The grandmother has probably done this so many times and knows that in the end, with appropriate help, it will run out well

    Please please please. Always always use RELIABLE jack stands when under a car. And even if you are using jack stands, if you have a wheel off, slide that wheel under the car as a secondary precaution. People get crushed by cars all the time, and it is not a good way to go out.

    • @SnowieShiba
      @SnowieShiba 20 днів тому

      That's good tip actually or a good solid piece of wood that's wide (4x4/4x6/6x6) and about the same height as the jack stand needs to be place the wood right beside each stand in case it does fail. Try not to do repairs on the undercarriage on an incline (like a driveway/parkway) if you can, which is how many of these accidents occur. The wood trick saved me once when I didn't have a spare tire available.

    One of the things that really helps people who were taken hostage and such is assign them a bodyguard who never leaves them. No matter what they wake up, roll over, or step outside and someone is there protecting them. It's just a step in the process but it seems to be an effective step. Bonus EZ if you have a retiring K9 who needs a home.
