The bicycle ride made my day! I run a non-profit where we work as volunteer bicycle messengers for disaster response and I absolutely love it when great vloggers include a bicycle in their content! Thank you!
As someone who’s been living in Japan most of my life, it’s great to watch something about the regular everyday in Japan, rather than the super praising or critical that so many other videos show. Life can be very peaceful in Japan, if you let it. Though I completely understand about missing home and family. The pandemic certainly hasn’t helped… You and Chris are really great together. It’s great watching the fun things you do together. Being far apart from my partner in Malaysia for a year, it reminds me of the things we want to do together as soon as the world is safe again. Thanks for the sense of normalcy and laughter you both bring. For hard tofu, you might need to go to the specialty tofu makers. They often have tofu not normally sold in supermarkets. Or try Okinawan tofu.
So glad you liked it :) It’s nice to see the mundane sometimes amongst the epic drone shots. It’s far more realistic as to what I do on a regular basis. Noted on the tofu store. I’ll have to check them out!
Wow! Are you a Japanese yourself? Ethnic Japanese I mean? If anything is more interesting than videos about Japan from Japanese, its videos made about Japan by gaijin. John Daub of Only In Japan is one of my faves. From America and was working for NHK. Now he is married to Kanae with a baby and I'm watching him next.
@@michaelrmurphy2734 I’m unclear if you are replying to me or Hannah. If me, no, I’m not ethnically Japanese. I’m German/American/Filipino. I grew up in Japan since I was nine (1969), and spent a big portion of my life living among Japanese, so I consider myself culturally partly Japanese (though most Japanese wouldn’t see me that way). I think there are some great videos about Japan by Japanese. You just have to find them. One of my favorite is “Morinone”. His videos are really beautiful.
I know you must be homesick, Hannah, but I love how you are living life during these crazy COVID times, too. The day trips, the big trips, the everyday little peeks - please keep doing what you do and sharing your world a little with us! ☺️
I find pressing the tofu overnight in the fridge really works wonders! Or even just taking it out of the packaging and putting it in a Tupperware in the fridge overnight. Then a lot of water drains out and makes it firmer 🥰
I have watched a few of your videos and enjoyed them but after seeing this one, I subscribed, it was nice to see the real you, I just love your little pet so cute, what’s happening at the moment is not easy but you are lucky to live in Japan where you still have the freedom to travel the country, we in Australia are very limited now on where we can go. Keep up the great videos
Love this style of video, Hannah. Your travel videos are epic and gorgeous but you just sitting on the bed chatting and this, I can never have enough of.
Ahhh Hannah, I've been catching up on all your videos today and I am so glad you did one of these videos! Always so nice to see a little bit of our favorite creators life!
I enjoyed this video, too, Hannah chan!☺️ I really love the choice of your music and your editing. You make even a daily vlog a piece of art. And please don't think about having to hire an editor. 🥺The videos you've made and all the effort behind it are the thing that makes your work so beautiful and special.☺️ Your very talented!☺️
I honestly don't know which videos I like more - the travel ones, or the everyday life ones. Because I certainly love both kinds for different reasons. This one was fun and I really enjoyed it! Also, watch those tomato plants - ours started small and humble, and have grown into unmanageable behemoths!
Definitely an amazing video, came here to watch your usual chill landscapes but I am delighted to see this everyday life video. Love from Adelaide, South Australia.
O wow I didn't know I needed this! I haven't watched much UA-cam recently so I've missed this. I'm totally going to binge watch your videos I've missed.
Wow, that was different ! Very, very interesting. Thank you for showing us all those things that are part of your life. Looking forward to your next video, as I'm always am. Thank you so much.
Goodness me!! I am so early! I have never been so early before. It's like going to school on a rainy day and finding you are the first one to arrive in class so you spend the time in silence and looking over the clouds passing by!
hannah!! this made me smile SO MUCH!!! the music was on point and the last kyoto clip made me grin so wide! thank you and good work on the awesome video. and thank you for making my day! so excited for the next few hiking videos
The *second* Bo Burnham INSIDE reference in Hannah's videos? The taste jumped out. Really enjoyed this video; it's fun seeing your style capture not just the scenic vistas and landscapes of Japan, but also the mundane every day things that still have beauty and purpose.
All the better for the lessons learned@@CurrentlyHannah , and the compost matter. Gratitude for sharing & May your creative reservoir always be in the path of the deluge!
Despite being a huge fan of your hiking series, these videos when you or other similar people just record their average everyday life, talking about small things like tofu (lol), it's very... reassuring? I guess? It makes me feel reassured that everybody have their own average mundane yet peaceful everyday life.
Ok , normally I never comment under videos, but I just found your channel and started watching your videos. FIrst of all u are an amazingly talanted person so keep it up! I am in love with ur videos. Secondly you are living the life I always wanted to live. I have a huge love for Japan and after I finish university here in germany I definitely wanna go there and hopefully I will find a way to work and live there aswell! Your videos just give me a really rare and positive feeling and I wanna thank u for that! Keep it up^^
I find freezing tofu blocks helps take some of the moisture out of them so they will be more like extra firm tofu! Excellent tip for baking tofu as well :)
Thanks Hannah you obviously know what you’re doing with the curry tofu, planting and the big ring! Were those little shoots emerging from the soil that you were showing us? At any rate I hope your attempt at growing from seeds is successful. Thank you so much for this video - it’s a really nice addition to what you’ve been posting which has been fantastic. I look forward to the next 2 videos you talked about coming out. Yeah, the pandemic is really getting tough on everyone and I hope you stay well and continue to have fun travelling.
I loved this video :) I laughed so much with you guys falling in the water xD You lived in the same building as your friends?! That's so awesome, the best deal ever, I wish...
Nice video. Finally the weather has cooled down so much in Osaka. I had a friend that was doing hoop in Osaka. But that was maybe 2 or 3 years back now. I think she is doing it Tokyo. Jungle Jungle better than second street I think thought. Nice video.
Aw Hannah! Such a beautiful video, there aint nothing wrong with wanting pasta and curry Also, the can sound *feels* literally gets me every time!! Sending love from Aus
Hahaha the tofu… same struggles… Shima dofu is slightly harder so I recommend that! Also wrapping it in kitchen paper and putting it in the microwave for 2-3min helps get out the water :)
Thanks Hannah. What a lovely snapshot, and great to see you're still doing the aerial hoop. Did anyone else think Mochi was saying "Hey. Get that camera off me, I'm eating." at the end 🤣 👍❤️👍
I feel you on the food part. I have the exact same breakfast for 6 months (oatmeal slaps) and then I suddenly can’t eat it anymore and only crave like cinnamon toast crunch or so. The second hand shop you went to seems awesome! We don’t have many in our country and they don’t have a big selection of items AND still expensive for the most part
I enjoyed this video very much, calming music and its like a slice of life too which is very nice. Thank ya for inspiring me to start packing up and traveling again lol. it is well needed haha. Also would love to know what that charming man does with his workout routine, very much perfect, very much would like to follow that routine hahaha
Even an everyday video is beautifully done! And while I'm looking forward to the next hiking videos as they look epic, getting to see your normal life and the day to day of Japan was also really cool
Hannah, Thank you for sharing your life in Japan. I love your videos. I real love your hiking videos of Japan. Your videos are some of the best on UA-cam. Cheers🥂 🧔
You have to cornflour the tofu to give it a coating. Then shallow fry or deep the tofu so the wobbly texture holds inside and crunchy outter. Your contents always so charming Hannah! All the best 😁
any vlog where we learn abit more about hannahs day to day stuff, is a good vlog. also loved the bit when that guy was pulled onto the raft then shoved straight over the other side.
For your info only - Recently 島豆腐(沖縄豆腐)is available at some supermarkets in Tokyo (Not in where you live?). They are firm (harder than regular 木綿豆腐). And popular Japanese dashi stock tend to contain MSG (アミノ酸系調味料) which makes me sick. The curry you cooked looks so yummy, but if you are interested in Japanese food again and if you can stand the smells of だし昆布 and かつお節, I recommend you to buy them rather than the stock. You don't need to worry about proper way of Dashi making. Just put them in a pot, pour water, put it over a fire, take だし昆布 and かつお節 out when it boils, probably with any kinds of strainer you have at home.
I get the feels of wanting to have something other than Japanese food for a change. I still like it, but things that remind me of home is something I kinda crave I guess.
11/10 would whip any bystander with my jump rope
The bicycle ride made my day! I run a non-profit where we work as volunteer bicycle messengers for disaster response and I absolutely love it when great vloggers include a bicycle in their content! Thank you!
Next, please try and go “Hokkaido”!

Ah that noise shift when you put your pods in...touches like that are so nice!
It's so nice when people appreciate these things :)

Or try Atsuage?
Shimadoufu can be made if you microwave regular momendofu for 4.5 min.
So glad you liked it :) It’s nice to see the mundane sometimes amongst the epic drone shots. It’s far more realistic as to what I do on a regular basis.
Noted on the tofu store. I’ll have to check them out!

I really like your videos - you're so normal and not gimmicky - Its refreshing. And you have a great personality 😊 Thanks for your interesting videos.

I love that you live such a minimalist lifestyle
That audio dip when the earphones went on was classy, nice touch!
Thanks! It worked so much better than I thought it would!
Loved this video! I legit thought you had millions of followers bc of the high quality videos you put out. You are awesome!!
いつもはハンナさんのお洒落な旅動画が好きで見てますが、今回のような普段の私生活の様子を覗ける感じも逆に新鮮でいいですね…
This is literally my favorite video in all of UA-cam.
I love how you editing and all of videos. Your smile made me smile! Thank you‼️

How fortunate to be able to find clothes (and shoes!) that fit you in Japan! Great video and killer jump-roping skills!
i miss Japan very much. Thank you Hannah for all the great videos !
Definitely an amazing video, came here to watch your usual chill landscapes but I am delighted to see this everyday life video. Love from Adelaide, South Australia.
I love this! Sweet, slice of life in everyday Japan. Ambient sound, not much yak. I wish I was there myself. SNIFF!!
I love this daily life video. This is just as calming as your other videos! Mochi turning his back in front of the camera was awesome.

Wonderful vlog lovely Hannah!!! ❤ Mochi is cute!!!
You’ve got to freeze the tofu and after thawing squeeze the water out. You’ll get a lot more water out and it’ll definitely be firmer.
Frozen tofu taste really really good.

Blenders have built in resistance breakers. Look on the underside for a small Button to push in. Should fix it 😉
