This is more black metal than most can understand. Avant-garde is not for everyone and that's fine. Just because you don't understand it, doesn't make it bad!
It works both ways though, just because something is "different" or "unique" doesn't make it better. I guess it's okay considering Gaahl's output these last years, but by using the name Trelldom he created certain expectations.

Bands evolve, bands change, it's not because they started in one way that they have to continue with the same style forever. Just listen to the music you like and stop moaning.

Avante-garde/experimental Black metal is just part of the genre, has been since the start with everyone from Arcturus to Sigh, always pisses me off when people act like all Black metal sounds the same or are all shocked cause a band like Oransii comes around doing something different. Sorry but ANYONE who says this shit is a tourist nothing more. Experimentation in itself is as traditional as being simply traditional.
Interesting album. Every song is a little surprising. Well done modern hard psychedelic rock. Artists showing their crimson skills yet from the beginning. It is not a shame if I compare this creepy groove to the icons of XX avant garde like Sonic Youth or Swans with which I have grown and formed my taste 😋
@@SvartMetall_666 I think you just don't get how this is still very much black metal. So is Ved Buende Ende and Virus, for a good reference point. Same with Fleurety, Voices, Code, the list goes on. You going to deny Ulver is not part of our world even though its been two decades since they did that style? Come on, same goes with Manes. You just don't get it.
Taken me a minute to check this out, and upon my first impression I wasn't impressed. But now, that I've had the patience to endure the album at it's length and needless to say, I'm very much on board.

This is common for many previous Black Metal bands. Ulver and Borknagar went through this same progression.
