My special book edition lies here. Austere forever ! \m/ I'm soo glad, these guys are back. Listening to Austere since 2008. My fave ones are The sunset of life, and Faded Ghost. But the whole album is great, all songs.
I just returned from the concert. Austere were the main event, with Dimholt as the supporters. We embarked in a atmospherical melodic night of lyrical velvet darkness, as completely hypnotised sentients! The album is a magnificent amalgam of poetical melancholy and desperate expression of blackness, through the resistance of thoughts. Like humans of sorrow, spitting back the bone of darkness, to the face of chaotic gods of desolation and depravity, praising the philosophising loneliness, at the same time!!!...Alright, i stop now. I got drunk and sunken by thoughts for just a moment! I was reading my beloved Rimbaud these days, again, in combination with listening to Austere and Cistvaen, had a toll to my depths of the soul!
Harakiri for the sky i
Еталон для мене особисто це "To Lay Like...".
I see the 13-year hiatus ended in an explosion of creativity. The past is in the past, it was a long time, and the present that Austere shapes before our ears is a welcome one for me. "The sunset of life" is my favourite track, although it took 5 listens to break through and fully appreciate its qualities. Many Austere sound-weaves are nuanced and subtle, they require the effort and attention to unravel, and this feature is the most pronounced on this track. It fluctuates between vastly different moods, from uplifting and hopeful to crushing and bleak. I visualize it as a carpet of pearls, shimmering beneath the shallow waves of a frigid sea. "Faded ghost" is a spacious doomy ballad with clean vocals giving it a distinct country feel. The emergence of this singing throughout the album is a constant reminder that you're listening to a non-european band. While the vocals here easily evoke images of arid Australian expanses, the guitars carry them on their freezing waves - the opposites in balance again. Hearing "Cold cerecloth" as a single I experienced a light shock, because it was the band's most un-Austere track, yet it sounded organic during the full album listen. Had a chuckle hearing a sped-up riff from the end of "Sullen" at the end of this song - an echo from their recent past. Massive and intimidating "Of severance" made an impressive closing for the album, an unforgiving ocean crushing everything under its bitter black waves. I just recently got into the whole "scandinavian melo-melancholy" (depressive rock/melodic doom) and infusion of this type of sound into Austere-typical soundscapes is like a balm to the ears. I know plenty of people balked at the new direction Austere has taken, but as long as this is a sincere evolution coming from the heart, and it doesn't sound like a hack job, I can't complain. The new album has a streamlined flow that wasn't always present on the previous one - it seems the guys figured out exactly how they want to sound, leaving the dissonant meanderings in the past. Sometimes I have a problem getting into a black metal recording because of the high-pitched wall of riffage that slashes at the eardrums, but Austere is a relief in that regard. The whole sound on BtT is shifted towards the lower end and the leads don't assault the ears. All this gives the sound a cushioned, warm quality, yet simultaneously that scratchy-icy character black metal is known for is also present. It takes mastery to unify the polar opposites, both in music and in the moods it aims to evoke. P.S. Looking at the cover now I see where all the birds from the logo have migrated. They must've taken off after the flock from "Corrosion of hearts" to their current destination. I know Tim has ties to Russia and lived there for a while. It would've been nice if he could get a bunch of physical copies into the country and distribute them there. We can't purchase Austere merch otherwise, not for a reasonable price anyway.
There's two members. But you mean Tim Yatras. He also does vocals for the bands Germ and Autumn's Dawn, depending on the song they might have a bit more of what you're looking for. For a full list of bands he has done work for, here's a copy and paste from his encyclopedia metallum page: See also: Autumn's Dawn, Blackened Angel, Germ, Midnight Odyssey (live), ex-Dungeon, ex-Grey Waters, Ghost Tree, ex-Black Reign, ex-Lord, ex-Nazxul, ex-Pestilential Shadows, ex-Rift, ex-Skyforest, ex-Baal Gadrial, ex-Battalion, ex-Paindivision, ex-Kinstrife & Blood, ex-Simon Polhill, ex-Blacklisted
As one of the first DSBM bands I listened to, they hold a special place for me. This was exactly what my soul needed. Glad they are back

I didn't know that they are back!!!!

Excelentní album 👌💣💥 😈🤘
Just found out they released two albums in the last two years. And I use my piracy-made Austere hat almost every day!

Capolavoro. Masterpiece.
A good work
Ótimo álbum 👏👏👏

El gran retorno de Austere

Beautiful album, can't stop listening to it!
🤟💪🤟
Is this a new singer or just better vocal production either way wow
2 albums of whining and boredom, where there hysterical screams
The most underwhelming Austere record ever. The tracks are so bad and skippable except the last one. The mixing is horrendous too.
