My job here is done, it was an honor to serve you all for a few weeks.
The Prius is the major Uber/Lyft car here in Minnesota. It is very heavy with narrow tires it will cut thru the snow. Just use taller tires. Ground clearance is a problem in snow.
My 06 pruis has the worst traction control of any car ever. It cant be turned off and it doesnt let you accelerate in rain. Idk what toyota was thinking
times would all be way off. ideally you do all of it in one day and grade the road inbetween so there is no ruts for the next car so it is more or less the same condition.
I think gravel would be very different for many reasons. More consistent day to day, as ice vs snow vs dry patches (I guess as long as it isn't rainy on the gravel), and also higher grip meaning more of a test to suspension and body control. It would also be harder to drive each vehicle to the limit, as opposed to on snow where the limit is lower and easier to get to. Since they started on snow, better continue on it, unless they're ready to do a lot on gravel which would make it worth it.
I mean I don't rally my 2018 wrx but I do live in northern Canada where I have plenty of roads to fool around on and I think even without the DCCD like the STI has that the VA wrx is a great successor to recent cars and even closes the gap to performance with the ej block wrx sti
I think one of the most important things I wanted to mention is tires. Like why would you compare sports sedan with rally tires to a 3-ton automatic van on all-seasons? Maybe a tire sponsor of some sorts would help? I mean similarity to grip would make test way more accurate.
Gedas Alekveravičius or put them all in a similar set of tires at least. But i sort of get the overall point that tires are technically inherited in the overall setup of the car itself so its fair if you look at it that way but its unfair if you look at it if you want to compare ONLY the car like the chassis, engine and suspension while it has the same if not similar spec tires to the other cars. Its only an objective test for the cars setup out of the box not necessarily maximising the potential of each car
I know this is a bit old so not expecting a response or anything, but for anyone else seeing this I figured id mention something. Out of the vehicles the WRX (obviously on good snow rubber) was compared to, here are their tires: - Corolla on snow tires - Mini on snow tires - Explorer on Mastercraft Courser MSR (light truck snow tires) - Hilux on some sort of all-terrain/winter tires --? - Astro van on BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 (all terrain tire with above-average snow capability, definitely not your everyday all-seasons lol)
Thanks for NOT drowning out the audio with EDM, dubstep, and some best friend's shitty garage rock band. Thanks also for NOT repeatedly stopping the video with a 154 slow-mo shots from 132 angles with bokeh pan left pan right pan up pan down bokeh. A few is great, but thanks for not going overboard. Thanks for caring more about your language being clear and less about your language being cool. This is one of the best, if not the best, car channels on UA-cam.
Team O'Neil's school is a magical place where it can still snow in July. lol For real though, if you guys can, rally a Nissan Juke. I remember seeing someone entering a stage rally in one and getting good results in it.
@@jordanbell4420 stock, but with the same tires,I'd put my bets on the E30 due to its lightness as the course they are running doesn't seem like it would take advantage of the more powerful E36 and E46 brethren. Either makes a fun rally car :)
I Love the way you wrapped it up! Fun drive to watch, and I'm glad you had a rally baseline to compare all the track times to. Can't wait till next January!
Looking forward to season 2. Would like to see a Miata, Prius, BMW E30 or E36, old school muscle car, full size pickup, or something wacky like a Uhaul truck!
Definitely the best edited video this far in the series. It is a lot of fun to go round the circuit with the driver the entire time. The last videos had some music that broke this up. Also the leader board is very nice to see. Good work and a fun series!
3rd and 4th gen already getting on the fat side. 3400-3600lbs for both, depending on trim and body style. A base, manual, 3rd gen legacy sedan will get you under 3400lbs, but still about 150-200lbs more than a similar age wrx.
I miss my GC8 now I roll Uber/Lyft in Winter Minnesota in 2007 Highlander!!!!! You should "Will it Rally" a 06-07 Highlander. I made good money ($1500 a week) during snow storms. I had to switch tires to all weather 215/65R16 from a 225/70R16 to cut thru the snow...but it rallied! The 17" rim is meh..I see a lot of those at the junkyards.
love this episodes! looking forward to next season !! hope can watch it sooner. surprise to see that the front wheel drive, everyday ordinary corolla top the board. reminds us that we no need to have a great car to have fun
The 2.5L RS model would have been more interesting to question rather than the WRX, but I understand that it's the model you had available which is still cool.
Intro music volume a bit loud? Maybe note what tires you are running if not stock. I know you mentioned on some videos but not all, unless I missed it. I know my old Imprezas and forester were garbage in the snow with summer tires but completely transformed with winter tires.
I did their 5 day course a few years ago. Def a great experience, even if you're not planning to take up rallying as a serious hobby/profession. The unlimited redbulls were also a good idea lol.
lol i knew it was going this way... "Will It Rally?: Subaru WRX" Wyatt just wants to have fun :P howabout putting a guest in the passenger seat each episode :)
I just discovered your channel and subbed straight away. Now, I'm going to go out on a limb here and presume the helmet is purely for the scaffolding (cage) and nothing more.
Stock? Sounds like there's a BOV and modified exhaust, which I would guess means it has a modified intake too. Probably not a factory ECU tune either. And the aftermarket triple gauge cluster makes me wonder too... I don't consider that stock but ok
Alex Ryan Thats what I was thinking when he said stock lmao. It sounds identical to my buddies 07 stage 2 wrx with an turboback invida exhaust. Only thing the one in the video doesn’t have is the Cobb and I’ll willing to bet that’s because whoever they get it from took it out when they sold it to team o'neil
Depends on how their awd is setup. Subaru makes some of the better systems out there. A lot of more common awd systems are to fwd biased and react a little late to put the power down in a performance -oriented application.
For next series, I'd love too see the BMW's have a go. Specifically, I'd love to see how the E30 compares to the E36 and E46. I'd also love to see a Crown Victoria have a go , as well as a Prius for a laugh.
I didn't realise the Corolla is second fastest out of all the vehicles until I saw the leaderboard, it even beat the Mini and that car has AWD and it's turbocharged.
I think it's FWD + low profile weight distribution put it in front... power doesn't mean as much as keeping speed thru corners here, and he could do more aggressive pendulum turns on the FWD.
@@Teamoneilrally Wow, seriously? I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that the Mini has such finicky electronics since it's actually a German car in disguise.

vote for this!
The Prius is the major Uber/Lyft car here in Minnesota. It is very heavy with narrow tires it will cut thru the snow. Just use taller tires. Ground clearance is a problem in snow.
I don't think they'll be doing a Tesla any time soon. Too expensive, and unlikely to even finish the stage without a mechanical failure.

a Mclaren Senna!
