  • You can avoid a trip to the doctor if you have a mild case of plantar fasciitis. Do these 4 steps and if you're still dealing with heel pain, then schedule an appointment with your local podiatrist.

Hi Doctor, I used to run on asphalt with tight calves which led to plantar fasciitis, after doing the calves stretches and all, it went but maybe I did too many calves stretches that now I feel pain in my posterior tibial tendon. Paradoxically, it’s always said that doing calves stretches helps alleviate posterior tibial tendinitis but in my case it worsens it maybe due to overstretching . Now I took a break from stretches while going for the conventional home treatment of ptt. But I am afraid that stopping the calf stretches would tighten may calf’s muscles again, what shoul I do? Kindly advise

Thanks for the question. I would agree that normally, stretching would help the conditions you describe. At this point, you need an exam to figure out an accurate diagnosis. This is the type of problem I love to treat. Give our office a call and we will get you in. - Dr. Neuhaus
