It worked, I literally left it connected for three seconds. I have a feeling as soon as you see that spark you could probably put it on the charger, but it worked.
I have done this with my batteries before and it works, but I wouldn’t connect for more than 1-2 seconds otherwise heat builds up in the wire and it could damage the battery. Originally I contacted Dewalt, after I mistakenly, completely drained my battery and it wouldn’t charge, and their response was, buy a new battery.
I had 11 of my batteries in storage for a few years and let's just say that was an expensive mistake. Only a few were able to take a charge and those don't work too well anymore

Don't know about other brands, but dewalt batteries have a fusible link inside then that can blow if they get too hot inside, has happended to me several times. You can take the top cover off and solder it back together and fix it, if this doesn't work
The only thing more fun than resurrecting dead 18 to 20 volt Li-On batteries with a battery charger connected to a wall outlet, is by removing dents in your truck's sheet metal by getting really cheap inflatable beach or basket balls from a dollar-type store, or from Amazon, and placing them behind the dents you want to straighten, and then wedging the deflated balls in place with suitable pieces of 2' x 4", and then connect a small air compressor, capable of 150 psi, with a long, strong piece of tubing, and then cutting the air pump on, while hiding behind a friend's near-by truck. (Always wear ear and eye protection and a ballistic vest, or an armored suit plus eye & ear protection if the ballistic vest is not available. Safety not assured.)
Only do that if you know the Voltage of each cell or at least the total Voltage of the battery pack. Each Cell should have over 3V wich leads to a total voltage of 18V. If the Voltage is below that you need to replace atleast one cell. The equipment you need to repair a bad cell costs more than buying a new one. So keep in mind that something like that only pays out after multiple repairs. I would say you need at least 4 batteries. Repair it or Sell it. Don‘t throw it away!!!

I looked at this and it looks like your video is only halfway the first parts cut out because it doesn’t show you what you’re setting it on it just shows you you’re hooking it to the Dewalt battery🤔

I would get an 18650 charger, but yes it's all the same principle. If you take a good charged battery and hook positive to positive and negative to negative it will start charging it. Just don't keep it together very long as explosion can happen when overcharged.
Please dont 😮 using a car battery or something below the voltage of the battery maximum. Also make sure ur wire is big enough so it doesn’t melt while ur doing this
Electricity. The working battery is fully charged, you are essentially forcing the “dead” battery to take some juice from the good battery to where it will have enough to be recognized by the charger.

@@hammerandhome it's like car jumper. nice done, at first I thought the BMS is on the battery to prevent over discharge but it's look like there's no BMS in the battery pack to prevent the battery for over drain. in my case I use the battery direct (+ and -) to power tool and it over drain cause the voltage deplete to 5V and the battery won't charge. that's strange it just work by jump start using other similar battery.
Those are lithium polymer so probably not. If it’s got 18650 liphfe batteries then jump it with 4 volt or from a parallel 18650 in 4 volts the batteries inside this unit are 18650 in series parallel 4.2x4

Great way to burn your house down. Those batteries have numerous safties, and if they detect a bad cell from being drained too low, it locks out the battery. Calling dewalt most of the time, they will replace your battery for free

Same here, a 60V on a third party lamp, probably some flow despite device off, or just too long not used….in any case, it now charges again!

Really it just needs a quick second or two. Then put it on a charger. If it didn’t work than you probably have a damaged cell.

Yup that’s pretty much it. I used a 20v to do my flex volt.

Not really, You could replace a cell. But that’s tricky and dangerous. Best to just buy a new one.

It is temporary solution only. Once battery was dead, you must buy new one or repair it. It will never be the same again.
