KING OF THE POORS? PSA Sabre-15

- The SABRE-15 is the new sub 1k AR-15 from PSA that is said to boast optimization out of the box. PSA has often been looked down on by the elitist community in the AR world. I spoke to PSA about this and they said the wanted to take on the challenge of creating the best quality rifle for under 1k possible.

I can't knock PSA. They are making constant pushes for "common use" by making everything affordable, rolling out cool historic stuff, different grades of quality starting at solid (albeit with a few hiccups in the past), and they donate to all the right places as a proponent for 2A putting their money where their mouth is. Proudly part of the Poors' Army.
Not they aren't...PSA cut Connecticut off immedialtes from any source of AR components after our bill went through. They also don't ship ammo to us. They saw the law, they didn't even read it, they just said, "fuck those guys" and tucked their tail. It's companies like Aero/BA, BCM, Stag, Anderson, SOLGW, LWRC, Larue, KAK, etc that we have been able to keep the number of AR platform weapons on the rise towards common use. If companies behaved like PSA, then citizens in ban states who have the right to build others or build off preban lowers would be screwed because PSA won't even send you a buffer spring and weight, a trigger, or a charging handle. Maybe you're into 3D printing, well PSA isn't going to supply you with parts for your build, because they don't actually believe in the 2nd Amendment.
PSA is not the company they try to pass themselves off as. That image is entirely manufactured in order to help move product. If they were respecting laws that actually existed I wouldn't fault them for that, but they aren't.
PS. CT is an incredibly expensive state to live in, for many it would be beneficial to purchase from PSA. Luckily as I said there are other companies who actually have a backbone and they speak through their actions.
Yup

No doubt. I've built a ton of rigs through them over the years mainly just cause.. lol and because the fact the sales they run at times are just too damn hard to pass up. I recently just built a retro m16a1 carbine, with a 14.5 pencil barrel and metal car15 stock. Slapped a geissle SSAE trigger and giessle braded spring and h3 buffer in it and man I love the little rig. Stupid light and alot of fun.
I am just waiting for PSA to go on no we sent out 3 million machine guns I guess they are in common use now
I've had my psa for 10 years. "Mil spec" chrome lined barrel. Plenty accurate, very reliable. It's been a great one. Lots of hunting adventures with it. Love psa
Same... Thousands of rounds and I can probably recall each individual malfunction on my fingers... Mostly if not all trash-mag related. Average about 2 moa at 200 with match.

Palmetto was the first large company to send mags to CA for freedom week. They prioritized shipments to WA and IL. Palmetto will always be good in my book.
If they would actually fix their QC issues, then they would have more respect from the gun community. They are pumping them out as saft as possible like a GM factory with no actual QC checks.
@@zack9912000 There is nothing be missed on their QC checks that cannot be easily diagnosed and fixed by someone who is mechanically inclined

My first AR was $750 about 16 years ago. It was an amalgamation of random parts from the gun show. It worked. Never gave me any grief besides maybe running some Bear ammo through it which we won't talk about. So for a NICE AR to be ~$1,000 in 2023, that is awesome. PSA really knows their market. I will be getting one of these. The JAKL looks sweet too.
Man, when I was new to guns I had a strike eagle 1-8 and that thing was actually great. Made it too easy to hit out to distance and never lost zero. I just fell in love with Eotech's.
I feel like stocks are something people almost always change unless they're the type that shoots like once a year in an indoor range.
I like the regular M4 stock just fine.
The plain m4 stock is also quite light, especially for the price....if the gun didn't already have it.
@@nobodyspecial1852 I personally have used velcro on the end of the buffer tube to take away the rattle, but then that makes it super difficult to adjust, which essentially makes it a fixed stock.

I love how "poors" in the gun community evolved from someone with a $50 SKS to literally everyone and their mother owning 3 ARs and 2 Glocks with gear and 1000 rounds minimum
edit: to clarify, you used to be able to get surplus guns super cheap a bit more than a decade ago, especially at stuff like yard sales, back in the 90s you could buy 10 SKS' in a crate for $500, account for inflation and a crate of 10 budget PSA ARs is actually cheaper than that now

I agree, definitely a good personality to have in the Pewtube mix.
Clearly you have never seen the man on a toilet.
The thing I like about ARs is you can buy something decently entry level and just upgrade parts as you go or if you use cases change.
With something like this you really don't have to so that makes it a one and done type of situation.
The psa Sabre already has aftermarket parts on it and if you want to spend mybe 100 dollars more you can get the psa Sabre with a fn barrel!
Cool vid, Admin. I got the 13.7 Sabre and it had been good so far. I read that initially PSA did not use anti seize on the barrel nut threads. Nor loctite on the gas block screws or handguard pinch screws and didnt dimple the barrel for gas block. Some have even recieved it woth loose screws. Luckily that hasnt been the case with mine. I hope... got a video up on my channel and an update coming soon. Good stuff, gents
Also, PSA, no matter what you think of them, is pretty based. When you ask, "how do we arm the other 11?" PSA is trying really hard to answer that question
You could make a strong argument that PSA has done more for guns and the second amendment than almost any other group in the country
PSA was the first company that started shipping and PRIORITIZED “high cap” magazine orders to California residents during freedom week. They’re truly the best.
Pretty based???
@@wendysbaconator1175 they’ve done the same thing for any of the other states that have had issues. I know here in Washington they were prioritizing all of our orders.

To have better u have to get proprietary stuff as far as milspec their probably better than most but still they have Gucci stuff to. So they have it all milspec on up
I’m with you dude. I’m a Gucci simp as well but I have a 8.5 300blk PSA upper and lower setup I’ve had for 8 years or so and it’s been great. The upper is on a backpack folder SBR I carry with me everyday so if that says anything while the LMT’s, and other Gucci builds sit in the safe lol. Mainly because I dont want them beat up but still. POINT BEING, I get it. Don’t listen to the haters, this is exciting man. They’re making a 13.7 pinned setup with a Keymo attachment for under $950. For the average feller, that’s amazing. Suppressor ready, minus tuning, 13.7. That’s sick, while avoiding SBR BS for most people is the ticket. Plus all the stuff they’re doing with AAC ammo, and AAC suppressors. They’re killing it man. The 77gr is amazing, they’re tooling up for Russian calibers, I’m just excited all around. People can say what they want but just know, we get it dude. No explanation needed.
Gotta say you are definitely becoming one of my fave content distribution dealers out in youtubistan looking like the sabre could be a pretty good choice and psa just keeps killing it! Great job admin keep up the great work

There are two types of people:
-those who love psa
-those who are wrong
Idk, man, I've seen some of their lowers and rifles with weird QC issues. I like their mission statement and how they're bringing to life what people are asking for but it bugs me that their QC is inconsistent since a lot of new gun owners won't know what the issues are until they bring them in or ask someone with more knowledge. Idk, bittersweet about them.
@@andreivaldez2929but theyre always willing to correct issues that do arise..
The three rifles on the range that I've ever seen jam, clog and stop were all different people with PSA builds. An ADM, LMT, LWRC, or H&K for me, a spare PSA with one mag and ten rounds for you when shtf.
@OnDaBrink Which is bs because they should have never left the factory like that. Any company that has a lifetime warranty like psa does mean you are going to need it.
Its a sorry excuse for the poor QC, "but they will fix it." Any respectable company will fix their stuff😂 The higher end brands, dont allow their stuff to ship like that to begin with. The excuses from fan boys wouldn't be accepted with any other product. "They make 100k guns a year, of course there will be issues." "If it breaks they will fix it, dont worry about the QC"
@@andreivaldez2929 they literally replace shit for free and sell blem parts separately for cheaper
I love this kind of gun content showing that there are good and affordable firearms out there. I'm not knocking on the high end manufacturers. They're great and if money isn't a factor for you and you can easily afford to drop a ton of money, go for it. However, as you and Flannel Daddy always say, training is by far the most important thing to using a firearm. And if you're someone that doesn't have a ton of money, I would much prefer you acquire a good budget firearm like that SABRE-15 (or whatever you choose to get) and still be able to afford to train with it, vs someone breaking themselves to buy some decked out HK, DD, or whatever, but now they can't afford to train with it because they spent all their money on the firearm. When I was LEO, I actually carried my own rifle, which was a Stag-15. Definitely not the highest tiered rifle on the planet, but, I constantly trained/practiced with it and I never had any kind of a malfunction with it. Even did a little dirt test with it similar to what you did in this video. 😂 Again, not comparing it to any of the higher end stuff, but, it was dependable
Love the videos. You guys do an awesome job. You, Flannel Daddy, Donut, AK Jesus, and War Poet are my favorite people on the internet.
The Smith and Wesson M&P II was once considered to be the “ king of the poors” but S&W has upgraded, then the Ruger AR556 , and of course the DPMS “ better than nuthin “ ARs but the Basic PSA “ freedom “ carbine can be had from $479- 600 and will work right out the box with magpul BUI’s and a budget Holosun or sig Romeo 5 or primary arms red dot

I'm really pleased with the PSA rifles I've built. Never bought a complete rifle, just uppers, lowers, FN barrels and then added my own choices. Their triggers are pretty good, especially the two-stage. You can build a premium rifle for under $1,000 easy that's reliable and accurate as anything else. PSA is today, IMO, the premier USA firearms manufacturer. P.S. thanks Admin for pointing me towards Danger Close Armaments, they did a fantastic job on my older S&W Shield milling it for a red dot.
You cannot buy all the components of the psa saber for the amount of money psa is selling the complete rifles for.
When PSA decided to offer FN barrels they started to get my attention.
@Kuru Botlar get a PSA FN barreled upper, PSA nickel-boron Bolt carrier group, PSA 2=stage nickel-boron trigger, Strike Ind; extended charging handle, extended bolt release and extended mag release, H2 buffer, David Tubb flat buffer spring, PSA lower, PSA Magpul lower parts kit, extended release pins, Mbus sights, LaRue QD mount, Vortex red dot optic. A complete lower and an FN barreled upper with a charging handle and bolt carrier group can be put together easily and upgraded as you learn about the platform. By buying separate main components you save a good bit on TAXES compared to a assembled firearm (built into the cost). The upper ships direct to you, the lower to a local FFL. Good luck, it's a great project.
@@FuriousMess Ayo...I'm all for PSA, FN barrels, cheap and durable firearms, etc. But that's not how sales tax works for businesses. It's not cheaper to buy all the parts than a complete rifle because of taxes. Businesses have tax ID numbers that they use to purchase things that will be resold tax free; only the end user pays tax. I'm not sure if it's cheaper to buy the parts vs a complete gun from PSA; but if it is, it's definitely due to added cost of labor since those parts had to be assembled into the complete gun. If you buy the parts yourself to assemble, you are doing the labor. Time is money. Taxes are gay.
Their recent gen AK's with the FN barrels are fantastic. Got a gen5 47 and a 105, both shoot great.

You could be having flashbacks, and start really entering scenarios and pull out the balaclava, put it on and it just goes to silent, you slowly look up at the camera and go right back into the upbeat funny video
Great video. As the "gun guy" in my group of people I constantly get asked about PSA AR platforms and I never have anything to say as I only have their AK
PSA is well above quality for their price range I got a 16” for roughly $650 from them and absolutely love it. Would buy from them again
their quality is sh t, cant count the number of them I see the. fail at the range and the gun courses where they hold up the class because some stupid build issues breaks the gun. People get what they pay for.
Still a ways off from making it happen but as someone who's been a fan of you and GarandThumb's channels for a while now, and is just starting to get serious about firearms ownership, this vid is definitely putting me on the right track I think. It's a daunting feeling seeing the pricetags on some weapons as a poor and going "damn, I'm way behind the curve, how can I catch up", but this sounds like exactly what I need rn. Thanks man, keep on rocking!
I cut wrapping paper rolls long ways and insert them in between the hand guard and barrel to keep paint off of the barrel and gas tube so it doesn’t cook horrible gases off in my face when I’m shooting hot. It looks clean af when you don’t have any patchy overspray on the barrel too. But I agree with the battle worn look too.
I do love your videos, i may have a few palmetto state items that I enjoy, thanks for showing it. Love the paint work
My first AR was a bushmaster I bought back in 2004. I haven't put 1000s of rounds through it, but it still works, even with the old Ar15 (non m16) bolt carrier and commercial buffer/tube. I'm pretty sure that I paid almost the same as this rifle costs nearly 20 years ago. Such a cool offering from PSA. Wish something like this had been around back then.
Geez I bet u paid $300 back then
I snagged a buzzer beater Sabre upper before WA’s AWB hit. Geissele mk14 handguard, FN cold hammer forged 14.5, Jmac keymo brake, raptor LT and a Microbest mil-spec bcg with springco springs. For around 900, I’m very happy. It’s a lot of value, and especially with the Geissele handguard, I can cosplay as a non-poor. It’s tight.
How can you buy them now ?
@@squidy4082 what do you mean?
@@cltnthecultist before the ban
@@squidy4082 I still don’t understand what you’re asking. Are you asking how someone in WA would go about getting one now that the ban has passed? Or are you asking how I purchased this before the ban happened?
I want to see a review on their sabre billet receiver set! If they are decent that may be the ticket for builds
Tactical or something tactical did a sabre review of billet. Is full ambi
@@Driver-ur9mf I was told the right side is just a bolt release. No way to use bolt hold on right side. That's all it's missing. Not sure if it's true yet or not tho
PSA is doing some incredible work. I have the dagger and I'm a huge fan. I've had 1 issue but it's reliable and light. Looking forward to a micro dagger and checking out sabers.
I have about 300 hundred rounds with my dagger and no issues
The only problem with my Dagger S so far is that it doesn't like S&B ammo for some reason lol
I've never had a 1k+ dollar AR but I have had some spikes and M&P ARs and have shot a ton of really expensive ones my buddies have.
My PSA has been just as reliable as any other AR I've ever shot
Run it hard and people find out quick. To each their own but anderson fan boys have said the same thing to include "its all just a roll mark" as their excuse.
M&P is a good and solid AR and a good price. The only thing I don’t like about them is the wiggle in the stock but that’s an easy upgrade as well it one chooses so
What happens ? what would I find out if I ran it hard? What do u wanna compare it too? U talking typical milspec stuff or do u wanna compare it to proprietary parts?
@@jefferyboring4410 some people get lucky, but ive seen gas keys walk off, ive seen a TON of gas blocks walk off, ive seen buffers getting chewed up due to out of spec retainers, ive seen several hanguards walk forward, and ive seen castle nuts loosen off. Almost all of those things sans the gas keys are fixable by anyone with half a brain, but most of the time these failures happen before the first 1000 rounds are fired. Most people who buy really cheap guns dont shoot that much in a year, and if they have my luck, the failure will probably make itself known at the worst possible time. Also since I know where youre going, just because its "mil-spec" doesnt mean that it is, as companies save money by reducing QC.
@@derekpershouse4424 those things u mentioned will usually happen in the first 1k rds and I’ve had em happen. Companies don’t make a gun reliable the owner does. Ppl have this idea they should be able to buy a gun and not ever touch it and shoot thousands of rds. The shooter is the one that should take care of all those things u mentioned. Nothing u mentioned was in my opinion because of a value priced gun. It’s obvious if a part is sub par or. It milspec like a mim part. Theirs nothing notable better than a psa if you have sense. Their is if u buy proprietary bolts etc. I believe a psa is on par with anything else of it’s type “of it’s type” if someone is a idiot and can’t tighten things etc is a Daniel defense or whatever better probably but theirs a point of diminishing returns. Theirs no parts of a psa sub par. Everything u mentioned was The responsibility of the operator. For me or ppl like me that are competent nothing else is better. I’ve got a psa with a FN barrel given to me cuz it was in a house fire everything that’s not steel melted I had to replace all the springs etc it’s a 200$ gun and Id put it up against any other rifle in its class. U know what I’m saying is the gospel
Im gonna be real with you. Ive been eyeballing that sabre with the fixed front sight post. That thing looks dope af.
When I read who and what PSA was about. I ordered a Ar pistol. Only about 500 rounds threw that one so far and no issues at all. Even keeping the polished trigger in it. Only thing it still needs is some rattle cans.
I saw that Killa helmet and the Mobile Infantry flag. A man with such taste earns my viewership everytime
I’d also like to say I really like your practical videos where you talk about the every man guns. The things that basically everyone can get a hold of.. because the way you explain things really makes sense to me. So I appreciate these videos.
when celebs get invited to ebsteins island they feel the kid come to life inside of them
😔
😢 makes a sad face, as I clutch my BCA upper/PSA lower, whispering "you're just as good" to it.
Glad to see PSA thriving. I was in my local shop picking up a dagger frame last week and they were all talking about their new storefront in Myrtle Beach, SC. Of my current builds, four of them are running PSA lowers, and I always try and use at least one part from them in every build I do.
I really like what PSA hopes to become and is becoming, may the lords of firearms bless them to succeed! Love your videos, not sure how you know I'm always eating or drinking beer while watching them, but that's neither here nor there. Also have spent a lot of time in various deserts including Arizonistan, that dust test was a little extreme but also kind of real. Even with the dust cover closed and a mag in, moon dust is the ARs worst enemy, always makes sure you have a small bottle of some CLP in the rig/bag!
Having a family a house, a car, etc and not being able to buy a 2-3k rifle= poverty stricken
Edit: apparently I started a war. I didn’t mean $600 rifles are the way to go I just meant that quality $1200-$1500 rifles are 100% acceptable and you don’t need to drop $2500 for a good gun.
Welcome to gun culture, the never ending pissing contest where you’re always wrong and inferior….
@@ethanh3421 I might be inferior, but I'm sure as hell not wrong!
People spend money on dumb shit. Almost nobody buys a cheap rifle because they can't afford a better one. They buy it because they don't have the discipline or patience to increase their budget, and they trick themselves into thinking it's just as good.
@@ethanh3421 That's not gun culture. That's instagram culture. I never run into guys like that at my gun club/range. I run into guys with expensive gucci shit and guys with poverty ponies and PSAs and everyone just shoots. Its not a big deal.
@@KeepTheGates You couldn't be more wrong. Everyone I know who owns cheaper guns openly admits they aren't as good. They bought them because they didn't see the point in spending 3 or 4 times the money on something they'll only get to enjoy once every couple of months with their busy lives and full schedules. Why do you guys insist on attaching your egos and you nads onto your nice guns? "Err just a dum poor und um butter then yew"
I appreciate you looking out for us zoomers to get involved in things again

King of the Poors, Quality (Relatively) of the Price Quotients, Gringo of the Goofy Gang, PSA is for sure moving along. Can't wait for the face reveal as well, you and Savio are working wonders here and im lovin it.
A couple years back I was on PSA's website and saw a complete upper, a lower kit, and blemished receiver for like $400 total, and I just couldn't pass it up. I am by no means saying, "It's just as good as AR's made by (insert company)" but for $400 I had to do it.
Awesome review!
I recommend collapsing the stock before mortaring the rifle.
14:16 admin out here triggering all the vets' tinnitus with that 3 prong
I dont want Admin to do an unmasking.
But if he does, it HAS to be a meme of the recent Halloween movie, like when they pull out the mask while all the psych patients are chained up outside
SABRE is an outstanding option for those needing to bool on a budget, they have a few models that use a CHF CL barrel OEM'd by FN and that's what i'd personally recommend to new gun owners.
I'm a few months from.being able to get my first rifle so I love that you made this video. I think I'll go with this because it's cheap but reliable. Thank you.
I heard “King of the Poors” and rushed to see who dared insult Admin like this. It was himself.
I do not know why the spray paint section was my favorite, but it was. You and Lucas just doing fast and messy paint jobs really brightens my day.
Don’t own any PSAs, but have wanted to pick up one of their AKs for shits and giggles for quite a while
I don't get it, I'm literally making you watch paint dry
@@AdministrativeResults You paint it the same way we did overseas. Quick and dirty. People actually pay for the fake wear on their rifles.😂
@@AdministrativeResults do it more
I've got one of their AKs. Got it cheap with polymer furniture, replaced it with black wood, still came out less than my buddy's Zastava and it runs the same.
Love your vids ,you do more shooting than talking and you get to the point of the content.
Please be gentle with us,I dont think im emotionally ready for the unmasking.
I love this guy. Been following for a few years and love the retro AR stuff but I love everything on this channel. Admin is definitely my favorite pew channel and for sure my spirit animal. Cheers to more years Admin
Also to note, I've painted quote a few rifles. Start with Self etch green as one of your base colors. It adheres very well and blends very well
This is gonna be a good day with Dunder Mifflin and Sabre! 🎵

Looks like a good thing actually. One of my friends is looking to have his first AR and this seems like a solid option to suggest. 😊
Really liked the realness tying to the average joe with this video. My brother-in-law made a point when we were AR window shopping that he wouldn’t spend couple grand on a long gun that’d he keep in his safe and shoot once a month (if he’s lucky). I don’t got that much money to drop either so PSA, Radical Firearms, and Del-Ton rifles have been on my radar.
Buy one of those replacement nozzles for spray paint cans that sprays a circle of paint. Harbor Freight sells them. Pick your 4 favorite colors and instead of doing stripes do circular dots. Quick little circular dots. Do dozens for each color. Make sure they overlap. It looks better and when you're in the brush it breaks up the silhouette of your rifle. Don't use black. Black enhances the silhouette. It's more time consuming but guaranteed to be loved. My AKM looks amazing using this technique. Add some ferns templates for some design pizzaz.
Every time I see someone shove mud, dirt, or sand in their firearms before firing, it makes tense up as if it's going to explode on them. It's really incredible how much it takes to push some of these machines to their breaking point. Demolition Ranch had a video on barrel obstructions, but the firearm just fired out the obstruction for most of tests.
It was a High Point, too. Timex of the Poor Handgun.
Recently added a PA-15 to the safe. They def saved money on the furniture and charging handle for $500. But it runs good. $100 worth of Magpul furniture and you've got a pretty dang good rifle for $600.
Literally just bought this last weekend! Excited to take it out and see how she does
Sabre line is a really cool concept. I’m strongly considering one of their SiCo ASR pin and weld uppers.
love your stuff man. Keep it up!
Just ordered a 13.7 upper with a JMAC GFH-C pin/weld can mount and quad rail handguard, can't wait to slap it on my lower!
Psa also has their FN BARREL line that came with a high-end psa bcg with MP testing and mil spec, all for around $300 for the upper. All that you need to change was the charging handle IF you wanted to. With an Anderson lower solid setup that runs all for around 500.
I'd be interested to see this vs the IWI Zion. Both are around the same price point. The Radian add-ons that come with this PSA make it impressive, though.
I’d get both. I loved my Zion. Going LaRue and LWCR next.
Seriously considering a Zion SBR.
IWI has great quality control and assembly, so you’re much less likely to get a dud gun vs PSA. The IWI will hold its value better too.
This the content we need! Entry to mid tier! PSA is amazing! Does great things for the communities!!
