    HANDSTAND INURIG | THE ULTIMATE FINESSE WORM RIG
    I have created and been field testing what i believe to be an amazing evolution of the INURIG, which uses elements of the NEKO rig and the INURIG together.
    I call it the ****** HANDSTAND RIG *********
    The INURIG is an incredibly lifelike worm presentation. Primarily designed for freshwater Bass, this rig can easily be replicated and scaled for PERCH FISHING in the UK.
    By using a floating worm with a trimmed down nail weight in the head of the worm (critically balanced to give a delicate controlled fall).
    **UPDATE AND HACK**
    Instead of using a float stop to prevent the tail hook from pulling through the worm, try gluing in stiff rig tubing through the last section of worm. the eye of the hook cannot pass through this which mean you dont have to use a float stop on the tail section
    If you find your worm does not have the action required
    1. make sure the eye of your hook aligns with the hole of the tubing that runs through the worm
    2. use a worm or senko lure that naturally straightens after it deforms
    3. make sure your tubing is wide enough to allow the line to run through it without resistance

      Thanks Adrian, the idea actually came from critically balanced baits in carp fishing were you load a tungsten bead under the hook, using a buoyant popular boilie. You can make the bait almost weightless in the water

    Hi Guy,
    Have you seen the manko rig videos?
    Instead of using plastic tubes he uses hooks pinned through the plastic to get a similar effect to the inurig. It also allows the worm to be swapped out for a new or different colour.
    That underwater footage and action is awesome.
    Cheers from Australia!

      @@theoccasionalangler6956 I’m from Melbourne, fly fishing here is for trout but it’s about 2hrs away. We have Redfin perch here as well but the apex freshwater species here is the Murray Cod, they can get to 120-130cm but anything over 100cm is a fish of a lifetime

      It certainly looks good, but with my on the water trials I was only getting about a 20% hookup rate. The design forces the worm to ball up in the hook causing 80% fish lost. I also caught 3 times as many fish on a regular Shakey head the same day.

      Yes, I am getting great results already with it. I've already refined it. Insert and glue hard tubing though the end section (before the tail hook) and you don't need the float stop as the hook can't pass through the hard tubing... makes it neater

    Guy - genius! The way you have it balanced looks so natural in motion. I wonder if it will still work using 0.2 Flexonite?
    I swapped to Flexonite from Soft steel after watching your last vid and have been very impressed. Great stuff Guy! Thank you, it’s good to learn👍

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  3 роки тому

      Thanks Paul, yes I think flexonit may well work with this. I have adjusted this rig a bit now. Instead of using the float stop behind the tail hook , using stiff rig rubing glued through the tail section. This will stop the hook passing through the worm and removes the need for the float stop

    Hi Guy, thanks for sharing this rig - looks amazing! I'm wanting something for inner harbour fishing in Auckland. If I scaled everything up with a heavier nail weight to keep it down in the currents, do you see any reason why it wouldn't work in those conditions? Maybe use a 160mm / 11g worm with a large enough floating bead under the tail hook to keep it upright?

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  2 роки тому

      Hi Max, I don’t see why not. I like the zman worms as they are very tough and float , so no floating bead needed.

    Man, those are tiny perch! Where I'm from, those are called walleye food! 😂😂

    Hi Guy I notice you are using it Carolina style with a pegged weight up from the bait, do you still fish this with the weight on the deck and lifting the whole rig up a few feet and letting it drop back down or are you fishing the weight up in the water?. Looks an awesome rig need to tie some up for the weekend.

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Neil, because its so lightly balanced i am really using the carolina rig to get it down into the strike zone. Once i know its on the deck i basically jump it back with longish pauses, picking the weight off the bottom anywhere from 1/2 - 1 ft.... i think you really want the lure to have some fall to get the most out of its action

    The clip at 3:42 is not the same as what you have dancing around on its head a few seconds later. How are you anchoring your line on the bottom/head end? I don’t see a ring or a bead or anything.

    • @theoccasionalangler6956
      @theoccasionalangler6956  Рік тому

      With the inu rig you just tread the line through the eye of the “head end” hook and the directly through the worm, there is no knot. I have another video on the inu rig which might help

      @@theoccasionalangler6956 On closer inspection it looks like you are anchoring the line to the hook on the tail end, then threading it through the tubes, exiting by the weighted head. Perhaps in the future you could consider using braid for demonstration videos with a note to use floro-carbon when fishing, just so the viewer can better follow along. Either way this is a excellent presentation and I'm totally going to copy you! I just made up a bunch using Charlie's Worms. They are a bit longer than the traditional sinko style and have this long flowy tail that does wonders when mico-twitching or if there is a little current.
