I think the reason he didnt go back was for two reasons: 1. He had grown to be such a world renowned and famous legend that just like kitty soft paws he potentially left shrek and donkey in the dust 2. He didnt want them to see how scared and fragile he had become. When puss met shrek and donkey he have off a feeling of bravery, self confidence, and courage. After his mortality caught up with him along with death he became a shell of his former self and didnt want his friends to see him like that

I think you're exactly right. Before _The Last Wish,_ Puss never knew how to express his fears and insecurities, even to his closest friends. The only thing he knew to do was run away and start a new. And even if he could return to Far Far Away by himself, he was afraid to confront them after having left them for so long.
I imagine it's like when you go a little too long without talking too a friend, and you know you both have things going on so you wonder if it's maybe been TOO long and you keep mulling it over and then suddenly it's been 2 years since you've spoken, but like x10
@@fastares4553 then talk to that friend, life's to short to worry of the outcome and it doesn't hurt to try and start up the friendship again, besides if your friend is unhappy with not talking for so long and ends up not wanting to be friends any longer atleast you have your closure, and that is the worst case scenario, best case is you end up being friends again!
You were certainly spot on. It is possible Puss decided to go back on his adventures, given Shrek and Donkey had their own families but couldn't go on these wild adventures as they once did. It was easy for Puss to simply run away from his problems, oppose to admitting to them and may have felt he couldn't return to Shrek and Donkey when being chased by Death. But only after his confrontation with Death, Puss was able to move past his "fears" and decided to return back to Far, Far Away to hopefully reunite with Shrek, Donkey and all his other friends.
Maybe puss didn’t want to put Shrek and his family in danger. After all, this was the first ‘bounty hunter’ that actually made puss feel fear. Although he could have gone back to his mother in the orphanage or back to his friends in far far away, he decided to hide himself away in a new and unlikely location that the legendary puss in boot would go to, so he could lie low and be safe. Love your videos by the way! ❤
@@crow_g1639 to be fair, back when Death started chasing him, Puss didn't know he was Death at that moment. He only knew him as a scary bounty hunter that can and will kill him.
Puss to me seems to show an avoidant personality in general. Not afraid to be the life of the party, showcasing loyalty and being there for those that need him, but always keeping those close to him an arms length away. People like that are very unlikely to lay bare their flaws and their troubles, even to those they love the most. Those issues have generally been used as a reason in the past for those once close to us to abandon us. So for that reason, we keep it to ourselves or leave the people close to us before they do it to us first. It's a conflict of shame from the idea of having to tell them or the fact that we are the one leaving for no good reason. Self-isolation has its own small yet twisted comfort if you can live with yourself.
It’s why Shrek and Puss’ lifestyles are very parallel with one another. Shrek may not have seemed Fame and fortune like Puss did, but both lived lonely lives in solitude and never let anyone into their thick layers so easily. Like when Donkey said that Shrek is afraid of his own feelings, I can say the same for Puss. He never liked to display insecurities, fear or vulnerability to even his closest of friends. Once Puss discovered his mortality, that shell he had wrapped around him his whole life (or his other eight) just came crashing down in seconds.
I also full heartedly agree that regardless of whether there was a falling out between Puss and his Fairytale Swamp friends or that he simply abandoned them like he did with Kitty and was just afraid to face them again I truly think Puss is headed back to Far Far Away to make amends and rebuild those bonds
I heard a theory that Puss saw himself getting used to living with Shrek and CO, and that sacred him. He still wasn't ready to say goodbye to the legend and so he left without a word to living the toxic lifestyle we saw at the beginning of Puss in boots the last wish.
Or perhaps, there is a third, less cowardly, option. Puss KNOWS that both Shrek and Donkey are married and they both have children of their own now. Puss is down to his last life, and he is being hunted by a character who is LITERALLY DEATH INCARNATE and whose sole purpose is to KILL Puss and take his last remaining life for wasting his other lives. He is also under threat from these other villains because they are all trying to find this wishing star. We know from the Shrek movies that Puss pretty much considers Shrek and Donkey and their families to be HIS family. He is a hero now....he has honor. So I think he chose to go into hiding, rather than going to his friends, because he wanted to protect his friends from Death and the other villains. Because I am QUITE sure if Death Wolf KNEW that Puss had a family that he loved, Death would USE that information to force Puss to relinquish his last life....because Puss would do anything to protect his family from Death and Death could EXPLOIT this to get Puss to do what he wanted. It's classic Villain 101. He could threaten Puss's friends with literal death. Because we know that if Shrek and the others knew that Puss was in trouble....being hunted by Death, no less,....OF COURSE they would immediately want to help him and protect him and that would be putting them (and their children) in grave danger from Death and Goldilocks and the 3 bears and the other guy too. So Puss chose the honorable road, and now that Death has been vanquished and the danger has passed, Puss can now be reunited with his family in Far Far Away.
@@CeltycSparrow man, the movie could've been SO different if he decided to stay with them. I mean, i knew that it would've been pretty different but that's potentially plot changing different...

@@ZUnknownFox I thought that the Christmas special was after that movie? Also I don't know it seems that Puss has been on his own for a while I mean. I mean in Shrek 4 puss is still happy with his friends I'm guessing he grew a bit adventure needy after some time with them. Plus at the end of the last wish he is heading for Far Far Away not the swamp so maybe Shrek and Fiona are visiting Arthur?
Puss literally waisted 8 lives just being reckless, he’d need to be either really selfish or really dumb to ask his closest friend to risk his only 1 life trying to fight the literal grim freakin reaper
It’s probably a bit of both. It’s likely why he also travels alone so he doesn’t put anyone in danger but he may call it deadweight when he is trying to protect them.
Exactly, he isn’t the type who likes to express vulnerability. It’s why him and Shrek are very similar. Wrap their feelings up in layers and lived lonely lives for a long time. Both are also big shots in their respective town too.
Puss didn’t want to risk the lives of those he cared about for a 3rd time because of his recklessness. The first time he put those he cared for at risk, he was labeled as an outlaw and forbidden from returning to his home. The second time led to the end of the world & their memories of him being erased. He already knew what would happen if he involved anyone in his plans.
@@Pastel_Dreams Now that I think about it, whatever happened to Puss’s girlfriend (I can’t remember her name) at the end of that show cuz I think the wizard made one except of letting her stay with Puss. Whatever happened to that?
I would agree with this reasoning. Especially since this is literally Death hunting Puss. If you so much as to even consider getting in his way you have to be astronomically lucky he lets you live.
I always felt like he didn't go back for 2 reasons 1) you right his pride and legend was the biggest reason he didn't go back. A legend asking Shrek to help just don't seem right. 2)at the time puss didn't know death was the actual death. He didn't want Shrek nor the kids to be hurt from a bloodthirsty lobo hunting him down
Here's my take: after becoming friends with Shrek, Puss began to open himself up to others more, slowly settle down and develop close relationships. Over time, seeing his friends become parents and be too busy for adventures, Puss decided that maybe it was time to settle down too with the one cat he truly loved. However, fear got the better of Puss, so he regressed and left everything behind to double down on being the legend, drowning his sorrows in parties, adventures, and adoration from stangers.
I think that Puss' estrangement from Shrek and co. might have had something to do with his fourth death, with the exploding oven. Since Gingy was present, it's highly likely that Shrek, Donkey, Fiona and the others were too and possibly witnessed Puss die. It was traumatic for everyone involved, since they had no idea he would come back. But it was especially so for Puss, as it exposed the vulnerabilities he sought to hide behind that carefully cultivated image of bravado and devil may care. His friends became emblematic of his inevitable mortality and self-perceived moment of weakness, just like the Wolf and he felt like he had no choice but to flee.
I'm wondering how exactly he comes back now. If you eviscerated him would he just magically respawn or would his body reform or something? He gets crushed by a bell and just wakes up later on in that same village.
I never realized that the fact that the doctor asked if anyone in particular could take care of him as he is down to his last life, Puss definitely knew that his friends from Far Far Away could do it. But the thing is, like Puss said, "There was no room for anyone else." Links to what Kitty said to Puss and why he didn't just ask Shrek and Donkey for help, because Kitty said, "You're still running, still the same old Puss in Boots." As Puss could've ran away from his friendship to Shrek and Donkey because of his life of being a legend.
Or, it is possible the Shrek and the other characters attended Puss and Kitty's wedding and that's when Puss ran away from everything to start his life as the legend.
Shrek is love, Shrek is life... And I don't mean it metaphorically or rhetorically or poetically or theoretically or any other fancy way. Shrek is love and life. Straight. Up.
@@mr.breadman4181 being loved won’t save you from Death itself, also Shrek isn’t life either, if he was then it’s ironic how Shrek never existed during the existence of earth
You answer your own question at 0:41. Shrek and donkeys specialize in defeating magical creatures. The wolf is literally the Grim reaper. In general their is no escaping death, so not much shrek can do to help even if he wanted.
It’s so amazing how Puss’ character remained so incredibly consistent throughout the series and spinoffs and it allows us to make realistic theories. That is consistent character design! And I loved how he finally had character development in the last wish. Really well thought of.
I didn’t even think about this because I thought that it was Puss’s journey and not Shrek’s. Puss has to figure out that he can’t be as arrogant as he was. He grew just as Shrek grew to be the awesome ogre he is.
I swear shrek wouldnt have even been scared of death, he probably wouldve joked like" oh well its about time, took you long enough didnt it, ive been waiting for you for ages"
I think shrek and donkey changed him enough to the point where he left on good terms. Ultimately, it was his mortality that set him straight, but I don’t think he would’ve been able to accept that in the long run if not for the humility shrek and donkey taught him, even if he lost a good chunk of it. I think that he left on good terms but couldn’t look himself straight in the eye after leaving his friends, I think that his guilt is what dragged him back into his adventurous lifestyle, and that him returning to far far away is symbolizing him reverting to the humbled gato he was when he was with shrek and donkey, if not changed a little for the better.
It’s possible also that the way Humpty Dumpty betrayed him played a role in puss’s comfort with close relationships with people. Humpty Dumpty was Puss’s closest friend and he betrayed him. It could been a factor in him abandoning Kitty Softpaws and they way he didn’t get help from shrek and the residents of far far away
I feel like Puss may have left the swamp since after seeing all of his friends in Far Far Away become parents it’s quite possible he just either wanted more adventure or maybe to see if he could ever track down Kitty. But he eventually gave up and hid his sorrows in his legendary status and put everything else on the back burner. It’s why the fear of his mortality hit him very hard. He never liked expressing his insecurities with anyone. Like you said, even during Puss’ fine with Shrek he always feared expressing his vulnerable side similar to how Shrek was always insecure about being an ogre and lived his life as a loner too just like Puss did. I bet if there’s a Shrek 5, Shrek and Puss could definitely both open up to each other and just mention how it’s always difficult to show your vulnerable side to others. I think in a way, maybe Puss might look up to Shrek especially since Puss never had a male parental figure or one to look up to in his life. One person even wrote a fanfic of Shrek protecting and looking out for Puss like he is his son. There’s definitely a parallel between Shrek and Puss’ character arcs and I found see Puss bumped up to being the deuteragonist of a 5th Shrek film. When it comes to death being after him. Remember that Puss thought he was a bounty hunter most if the time. If Far Far Away is in the U.K., I think he would need a boat to cross the ocean to get from Spain to Far Far Away. Plus I think Puss wouldn’t want to put anyone else in danger even if they are ogres. I think it is only like a five year time gap between Forever After and The Last Wish so Farkle, Fergus and Felicia are still little kids.
@@KevinYounger-w9i I think it’s safe to assume Shrek’s swamp, Duloc and Far Far Away require you to cross oceans for someone like Puss to get to who’s in Spain. I was mostly assuming the UK due to how many English actors they used throughout the franchise. But it probably is in California since it’s a parody of Hollywood. I wonder where Arthur’s high school was located in?
This is a deep analysis. Both Sherk and Puss are on similar journeys. As both of them had live solitary lives so much so that it’s hard for them to open up to others. But in the end, due to the experiences that the two had gone trough allowed them to open up. It would have been heartwarming for puss to turned to shrek because shrek had learned a similar lesson from shrek 4 to puss. Shrek would at least know to some extent what puss is going through. This is a great analysis. Great job.
Ahhh the brilliance of Dreamworks with their similar storytelling from films like Last Wish and Forever After, having similar message behind them somewhat, while still not being copy-pasted and both stories being entirely unique to each other for audiences to enjoy. Man I can't wait for Shrek 5.😆
Puss has never been vulnerable around Shrek. He's a very proud and egotistical character who would never show his insecurities. He'd much prefer to hide away as a stranger's lap cat then deal with the shame of showing his true feelings to his friends. I can relate to some extent. Its sometimes easier to ask for help from a stranger who's opinion of you you couldn't care less about, than let your friends see you differently.
But that's the thing, he couldn't show the vulnerability. Sometimes acting prideful is to hide his insecurities. I mean when you remember those when Kitty says that his beard looks disgusting on him, he's acting cocky saying it look dinstinguish on him to dignify it, despite not liking it either. When he wants get rid off it instead of asking Kitty for help, he tries play it off to let her do it herself, because he doesn't want admit. It's then when it backfires on him, he shows his vulnerability.
@@Ulaanbasaar He pleaded for his life, which considering that he had multiple lives left back then meant he was most likely trying to manipulate Shrek.
@@cameronjosephvideos5942 I feel like it’s a bit of a plot hole. Not sure if they originally planned Puss to have multiple lives back in Shrek 2 but it is possible. With how much he pleaded, I am not sure if he was trying to manipulate. Especially since he revealed he was a hired assassin
I just realized something scary. It is just a theory, but what if Farquaad planned to send fairytale creatures to Jack Horner so he would get rid of them? Think about, Farquaad wanted a 'perfect kingdom' without 'Fairytale freaks' and Jack Horner was collector of everything magical or powerful and they both hated fairytale beings, Horner was jealous of them having magic while he had none and Farquaad because of daddy issues with Grumpy (this is from Musical in case you wondering) and saw fairytale creatures nothing but filth that was ruining his perfect kingdom, calling them monsters. If you remember the interrogation scene Farquaad demanded from Gingy to know the location of where the others are hiding. He had no idea they were hiding in Shrek's swamp. And we all know how Jack Horner is cruel, he took unicorns their horns and use the the rest as mules to pull his chariot, caged many innocent living beings as some pets like liliputans, the cricket, the phoenix, let one his skilled employed turn herself into gold just because she made fun of his nursery rhyme, set up Kitty, probably because she was fairytale talking animal he hates, and let's not forget his murder counts on Bakers Dozen.
Not to mention, I haven't seen anyone else comment this, but puss was Shrek's to-be assassin from Fiona's King father. To go from Ogre-killing capable feline, to fearful and fragile. I can see puss in the beginning not considering Shrek's help because of Puss' ego.
My thoughts on this matter: Puss went to FFA after Santa Coloma, as his guilt for abandoning Kitty and fear couldn’t mentally allow him to remain where he was living (I don’t know if he’s from Spain, he speaks Spanish but FFA isn’t a real place so it’s confusing for me at least) so he fled to a place where he likely wouldn’t be very well known. He’s a bounty hunter in Shrek 2, so it’s very likely he’s trying to make some money as people likely don’t know/love/respect him as the legend, so they wouldn’t be nearly as hospitable. Puss 1 and Santa Coloma take place before Shrek 2 in my headcanon. During the doctor’s appointment, Puss still has his ego intact (even if slightly cracked thanks to the prospect of being on his last life) so he still thought he could be the legend. Then after his first encounter with Death, he fled to Mama Luna’s because he didn’t want to bring Death (who he thought was a bounty hunter at the time) to FFA and possibly endanger Shrek and his family. It’d also explain why he didn’t go back to San Ricardo and the orphanage; he didn’t want to put any of them in danger, especially after the Golden Goose incident. As for Puss being back in “Spain” after Shrek 4, I believe he left because Shrek’s and Donkey’s families settled down and had no more adventures, so he went back to “Spain” to rekindle his legend. Not sure if he would have left on bad terms if I’m being honest.
Puss may have just felt bored since he didn’t have much adventure left with them so he could’ve just left on good terms. I assume Far Far Away is located somewhere in the U.K. since Shrek is Scottish and Fiona’s parents Harold and Lillian have English accents. I agree with you on everything else. I think it’s at least five years between Forever After and The Last Wish which could be another reason why he didn’t return. He feared going back after leaving for so many years and looking like as if he saw a ghost (Death in his case). Puss is like Shrek and likes to hide his vulnerable side from everyone. Both lived very lonely lives before meeting their closest friends.
I guess there is a possibility. When doctor ask him if he has safe place, someone who rely on, Puss looks uncomfortmable about, even hesitates answer it properly.
You are right. But I would add something. At that time Puss is convinced to be the the most powerful hero ever. If he lost, how could someone else win ? And to be faire, how could a random ogre could help him agains't such vilain. And last but not least : the whole story is about Puss accepting fear and learning to open himself to its friends. Searching for his old friend's help would break the story.
4:46 I fully agree with you right there Issac cause that’s another thing about Last Wish that I realized which was Puss’ arc in the movie felt pretty similar to Shrek’s arc in Forever After where they both needed to learn to appreciate what they already had before it was gone and make the most of the lives they made.
Puss’ character arc almost from the very beginning is like Shrek’s. Shrek lived a life in solitude because the works saw him as nothing but a big, stupid, ugly ogre. He wrapped himself in many layers and never let anyone see how he truly felt about life until he met Donkey who never judged Shrek. The same can apply to Puss. He lived a very lonely life and he didn’t truly let anyone see how he really felt about it. Even though I’m his case it’s more of denial of the legendary life being as wonderful as he thought it was. Once Puss met Perrito, he never saw him as a legend or an outlaw, but a friend. I think that’s why he felt he found a true friend who wouldn’t judge him for who he is. I can imagine if there’s a 5th Shrek, we can really see Shrek and Puss have an even stronger companionship cause both characters faced similar hardships. They went on many adventures together and found their happily ever after. It would be cool if Puss admitted that he looked up to Shrek and respected him a lot for being an ogre and never letting it back him down. I remember reading a fanfic of how Shrek saw Puss as a son and protected him like one.
Even if Puss had reunited with Shrek and Donkey, he most likely would have tried to pretend nothing was wrong. There's no guarantee Death would have shown himself if Puss had stayed with them 24/7.
While Puss is very much a friend to Shrek, he's not going to be emotionally vulnerable around him. I'm sure Shrek and his family would have helped Puss, but he's too prideful and wouldn't want anyone aware of the legend to see him in such a fragile state. Maybe after the wedding Puss decided to double down on his solo adventuring, as he tried to soothe the pain with parties, excitement and adoration from stangers.
I think the events in Santa Coloma were before Shrek 2. I think after seeing Shrek, Donkey and Fiona become parents, maybe Puss wanted to find Kitty so he could have his happily ever after, but also continue his life of adventure and as a legend. It’s likely why he left the swamp and returned to Spain. Guess he managed to find a way to cross oceans. I think it’s at least 5 or 6 years between Forever After and the Last Wish. I do agree that Puss isn’t one who likes others to see him look so venerable. It’s why I feel like him and Shrek have very similar character arcs cause they both live lonely lives and wrap their feelings in layers for a long time until they meet their first true friend. Donkey and Perrito. Boy I can only imagine the interaction between them. If Perrito has another swearing rampage that’ll be hilarious. Can do hear Donkey saying: “Man, who was his mama. And I thought I had a filthy mouth.”
I don't think Death would target Shrek and Donkey if Puss seeked help from them. Since Death only targets someone that mocks him or those who are close to dying.
I imagine Puss is like the cool uncle. Also, I could be that he was too proud to return to Shrek and Donkey. He didn't want them to see how far he's fallen from a great hero to a scardy cat, no pun intended.
Absolutely agree with this video! I also think, as a personal opinion, that since Puss leans heavily into the hero archetype, he might have gotten scared getting too deep into a lifestyle that doesn't fit that or would be a huge change from that. Like if he were to marry Kitty. Or. Gets too comfortable hanging around Shrek and Donkey, who don't actively seek out adventures, so he is more likely to fall out of the legendary hero lifestyle he's used to. And as stated in this video, he will run away when that happens.
See I'm not doubting Shrek and Donkey's ability to defeat supernatural enemies but the wolf is literally Death given a physical form, I'm not sure even Shrek and Donkey could've helped lol My assumption has been he didn't want to put Shrek, Donkey, and their families in danger. Then again, its possible that if Death was only there for Puss, he wouldn't have done anything to anyone else, but that doesn't mean they could've stopped Death from taking Puss either.
1. The legend was too big for anyone else 2. He didn't know how to describe his fears and insecurities (as you pointed out) 3. Shrek lives in Far Far Away.
My personal headcanon is that after Life Number 7 went up in flames (no pun intended) Shrek and company probably had a funeral for him. And similar to how he woke up in the care of the Village Doctor, several hours he emarged from his grave and went on his old way of living.
So he faked that it was his final death? And he thought the leche party he was having before was awesome...imagine their happiness when his true friends see he's still alive!
@@lacyn9082 No, He just probably didn't tell them about his extra lives being actual real before the oven killed him. They legit must have thought that he was gone with no coming back.
He clearly missed Shrek and Donkey, because it's the first place he went after facing death and accepting love and friendship. He probably was worried they would be angry at him for leaving for so long, but we know that's not what's gonna happen. They will be happy to see him, and Donkey and Perrito will get along great.
I clicked on this video as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Could I please be the first to say that Death would be hearing the DOOM Music as soon as Shrek walked in
Idk, Puss had to take a boat in order to get to them, seems like getting to them would have both taken too much effort and be too risky for him to go along with. I think that’s the simplest and most obvious reason.
I kinda had the idea that Shrek and the others thought Puss was dead for good in the baking accident, and Puss just took that as a chance to get some time for himself.
I don't think that's the case. They knew he has more that one life back. They pretty much confirmed that in Swamp Talk which ironically was before The Last Wish. Foreshadowing much?
Because, in his own words, 'Puss in Boots walks alone'. Even if he felt like he needed help, he is Puss in Boots, so he shouldn't and then rides out into the sunset.
I can imagine puss still had strong feelings of friendship and camaraderie towards shrek and donkey, but his desire to be the star and main event caused him to struggle being second fiddle to shrek (or at least his perception). Maybe it eventually overtook him and he disappeared one night without even saying good bye to once more become a solo hero
I do agree with this idea. Edit: I think DreamWorks should make a Shrek series. They can start with a pilot, and see how it turns out. It'll be a fitting way to see how it turns out, and it could bring back some OG fans and new of the Shrek franchise. I also wonder how old Shrek's kids are at this point?
Puss probably didn't want to endanger Shrek especially since he's already a father with three kids. Similar to how Shrek pretended not to care about Arthur and saved him by tricking him into thinking Shrek didn't care but actually it was just so Arthur would willingly leave and not be killed by Charming.
Do you think Kitty Soft-Paws lied about not showing up to the altar? That idea stuck with me as soon as she said it. Love your videos! Thank you for being you!
I believe she did because when she overheard the conversation between Puss and Perrito, she realized how regretful Puss felt about leaving her and decided to lie about not showing up just to ease his pain of guilt.
She did seem very upset about the whole thing. If she didn't show up either, it wouldn't seem right for her to be that angry and constantly bring it up.
I think she did. She overheard his conversation with Perrito and didn’t want to make him feel even worse about the situation about abandoning her at the church in Santa Coloma.
No Puss was on a different continent than his old pals, and the reason he didn’t have anywhere to go, He was only really talking about Spain. Puss also probably didn’t go back to them during the movie because if he went to the boat, he would be out of the open and the Wolf could’ve gotten him, Puss was squaring up against Death, it would be common knowledge for Puss not to drag his friends into this. Not to mention how the movie is about Puss’ character.
I think it's just a matter of pride. "Puss in Boots walks alone" and all that. He did not want to be vulnerable in front of people whose opinions he cared about. He'd rather bury the boots and disappear to preserve the legend.
I mean Puss was always closer to Kitty Soft Paws than to Shrek and donkey and he didn't seek help from her either at least not in regards to his internal crisis. It's his personality to try and fix things alone. The whole movie explored the idea.
At first I thought the new remake of Shrek would be horrible, but after seeing the animation of Puss in Boots 2 I have a really good feeling about movie. And I hope it's not a remake from the start, but a continuation from the end of Puss in Boots.
It really depends if Shrek 5 would go with this animation style. In my opinion, I do like the look of the more cartoonish looking humans, but characters like Shrek, Donkey and Fiona’s designs are so iconic I’d leave them be. The redesign worked for Kitty cause she wasn’t quite at that stage of popularity in the Shrek universe. I think Kitty is possibly the 5th most popular Shrek character now.
@@Christopher_Woods nah after the Last Wish, Shrek 5 NEEDS to be in the same/similar animation style, it literally just looks so much better, hell Puss looks way better in that style than he does in any of the Shrek films, he’s much more fluid, colorful, and dynamic in the Last Wish than any other movie, And Shrek, Donkey and Fiona definitely need a slight redesign, they honestly would not look bad at all looking a little bit more cartoony, also the Last Wishes animation style works perfectly with the close-up battles, Puss’ battle with Death was anime-tier good, Shrek deserves to have battles animated that way too.
It could also be that death is not real it's all in his mind so there is nothing to fight. He's a manifestation of Puss's doubt and something he needed to deal with. As per why he didn't seek help fighting the other villains, that is for Dreamworks to explain.
At the end the Adventures of Puss in Boots, Puss left friends behind again, only this time against his wishes. But he still had Dulcinea who was one of the few ladies he truly loved. We don't know what happened to her after that, but could it be possible that eventually, Puss left her behind too? If so, I wonder what she is doing right now.
Someone theorized that since Dulcinea was a tulpa and not a real person, she disappeared shortly after reuniting with Puss in the new timeline since two versions of the same being exist in the same space. My theory is in the same aliment with this one, but it was Puss's wish to have one last moment with her before they were to be apart.
I think the reason he didnt go back was for two reasons:
1. He had grown to be such a world renowned and famous legend that just like kitty soft paws he potentially left shrek and donkey in the dust
2. He didnt want them to see how scared and fragile he had become. When puss met shrek and donkey he have off a feeling of bravery, self confidence, and courage. After his mortality caught up with him along with death he became a shell of his former self and didnt want his friends to see him like that
Until he's back to his old swashbuckling self after overcoming his fear of Death.

I also full heartedly agree that regardless of whether there was a falling out between Puss and his Fairytale Swamp friends or that he simply abandoned them like he did with Kitty and was just afraid to face them again I truly think Puss is headed back to Far Far Away to make amends and rebuild those bonds
you dont say ...
I heard a theory that Puss saw himself getting used to living with Shrek and CO, and that sacred him. He still wasn't ready to say goodbye to the legend and so he left without a word to living the toxic lifestyle we saw at the beginning of Puss in boots the last wish.
I always got the feeling that Puss just visited Shrek and friends in-between his adventures, the "legend" doesn't settle down or commit to anyone

I would agree with this reasoning. Especially since this is literally Death hunting Puss. If you so much as to even consider getting in his way you have to be astronomically lucky he lets you live.
I always felt like he didn't go back for 2 reasons
1) you right his pride and legend was the biggest reason he didn't go back.

Puss was obliged to serve Shrek until he lost his life. He lost his life to a furnace and so he lost one of his 9 lives.

Puss in Boots works alone, that's why. He only learned the humility to ask for help after getting so close to death and bonding with Kitty/Perrito

You answer your own question at 0:41. Shrek and donkeys specialize in defeating magical creatures. The wolf is literally the Grim reaper. In general their is no escaping death, so not much shrek can do to help even if he wanted.
Death is obviously the magical creature too
It’s so amazing how Puss’ character remained so incredibly consistent throughout the series and spinoffs and it allows us to make realistic theories. That is consistent character design! And I loved how he finally had character development in the last wish. Really well thought of.
Shrek 5 needs a Shrek vs Death faceoff
I didn’t even think about this because I thought that it was Puss’s journey and not Shrek’s. Puss has to figure out that he can’t be as arrogant as he was. He grew just as Shrek grew to be the awesome ogre he is.
The same reason why Batman Doesn't call Supes whenever joker blows up another oprhanage.
Because Shrek was Far Far Away
finally, someone said it 🤦🏾♂️
I swear shrek wouldnt have even been scared of death, he probably wouldve joked like" oh well its about time, took you long enough didnt it, ive been waiting for you for ages"
Easy answer: He didn’t want to see the look on their faces when they saw him terrified.
Nice theory, but I think the simpliest explanation would be : That's how the creators wanted 😄

Hm. I wonder if this insight factors into the Fat Puss we see in Shrek Forever After.
But that's the thing, he couldn't show the vulnerability. Sometimes acting prideful is to hide his insecurities.
Maybe Puss didn't ask Shrek and Donkey for their help because that would have endangered them and their families.
Shrek was far far away
Not to mention, I haven't seen anyone else comment this, but puss was Shrek's to-be assassin from Fiona's King father. To go from Ogre-killing capable feline, to fearful and fragile. I can see puss in the beginning not considering Shrek's help because of Puss' ego.
My thoughts on this matter:
Puss went to FFA after Santa Coloma, as his guilt for abandoning Kitty and fear couldn’t mentally allow him to remain where he was living (I don’t know if he’s from Spain, he speaks Spanish but FFA isn’t a real place so it’s confusing for me at least) so he fled to a place where he likely wouldn’t be very well known.
The fact this movie performed so well drastically increases the chances for a shrek 5
hello i’m from the future I have good news
“Why didn’t puss get shriek to help”
Bro was across the damn ocean…
I bet Shrek want Puss to be way braver by leaving him alone
I don't think Death would target Shrek and Donkey if Puss seeked help from them. Since Death only targets someone that mocks him or those who are close to dying.
Right, he was only after Puss. Shrek and Donkey weren’t even on his radar.
It took him til the end of the movie to go to Far Far Away.

Not gonna lie, if The Last Wish didn't exist, this would be a great frame as a Shrek 5 movie, kinda like guardians of the galaxy 3.
Could I please be the first to say that Death would be hearing the DOOM Music as soon as Shrek walked in
Puss's back story is compatible with what he described in Shrek 2
3:40 “Battling dangerous magical foes” *shows Far Far Away’s knights😂
Love your theories, Isaac👌
Idk, Puss had to take a boat in order to get to them, seems like getting to them would have both taken too much effort and be too risky for him to go along with. I think that’s the simplest and most obvious reason.
I kinda had the idea that Shrek and the others thought Puss was dead for good in the baking accident, and Puss just took that as a chance to get some time for himself.
I don't think that's the case. They knew he has more that one life back. They pretty much confirmed that in Swamp Talk which ironically was before The Last Wish. Foreshadowing much?
@@ivanacurna6577 Swamp Talk isn’t canon
@@CheeseyStuff I know. But I still find it crazy of the foreshadowing.
Lobo: and I’ve come for you, puss in boots…
Shrek: you and what army?
@@zombiewerewolf9189 that's very sweet of her but is it healthy to start a relationship like this?
@@hassanalkhalaf1115 It showed that she was willing to give him another chance.
No
Puss was on a different continent than his old pals, and the reason he didn’t have anywhere to go, He was only really talking about Spain.
LOVE YOU VIDEOS MAN, KEEP THEM COMING!!!!
I think it's pretty obvious that he didn't ask Shrek for help primarily because he was Far Far Away.
I think it's just a matter of pride. "Puss in Boots walks alone" and all that. He did not want to be vulnerable in front of people whose opinions he cared about. He'd rather bury the boots and disappear to preserve the legend.
Probably because Shrek is just an Ogre and Death is literal Death
It's becuz this isnt shrek's movie
I mean Puss was always closer to Kitty Soft Paws than to Shrek and donkey and he didn't seek help from her either at least not in regards to his internal crisis. It's his personality to try and fix things alone. The whole movie explored the idea.
just imagine your friend that you haven't seen in a while reaches out to you and he asks for help because DEATH ITSELF is coming after him
At first I thought the new remake of Shrek would be horrible, but after seeing the animation of Puss in Boots 2 I have a really good feeling about movie.
@@Christopher_Woods nah after the Last Wish, Shrek 5 NEEDS to be in the same/similar animation style, it literally just looks so much better, hell Puss looks way better in that style than he does in any of the Shrek films, he’s much more fluid, colorful, and dynamic in the Last Wish than any other movie,
And Shrek, Donkey and Fiona definitely need a slight redesign, they honestly would not look bad at all looking a little bit more cartoony,
also the Last Wishes animation style works perfectly with the close-up battles, Puss’ battle with Death was anime-tier good, Shrek deserves to have battles animated that way too.
Not a remake. It's a sequel lol
It could also be that death is not real it's all in his mind so there is nothing to fight. He's a manifestation of Puss's doubt and something he needed to deal with.
As per why he didn't seek help fighting the other villains, that is for Dreamworks to explain.
Because Shrek would’ve farted on death and end the movie quicker
He knew he needed to face his demons himself.
I honestly just really wanna see the other characters now in this art style because it's so flowy, vibrant and all around gorgeous
Me too
Shrek would be overkill, its like calling superman for a shop lifter.
I feel like shrek is like a middle age dad at this point too
But he could have sheltered him ig
It's not canon
