Hearing Zuko talk about race politics was really surreal.
I love it
Isn’t that the voice actor who played American dragon Jake Long and prince Zuko?
I KNEW IT I KNEW IT
ouuuu tea

Yup
I WAS WONDERING WHY HIS VOICE WAS SIMILAR, HE’S ZUKO’S VOICE ACTOR 💖💖😍 already in love with Yappie

OMG
OH MY GOODNESS YES
WHAT??
Just wanted to take a moment here to thank all of you for tuning in and to Phil, Wes, Taylor, Benson, Chris, Jenn and all of the amazing folk at Wong Fu for an amazing shoot!
Representation in media obviously means a lot to all of us, and it's so amazing to have been a part of a group of intensely passionate individuals who share the same goals. I'm so happy that you're here with us discovering what it means to be Asian American, and I hope you'll tune in for the rest of the show! :D
thank YOU friend
Hi Jung! glad to see you here and looking forward to Season 3 of Kim's Convenience. Ok see you!
You're welcome Shang Chi
Wait that’s Shang Chi omg
Congrats Wong Fu on the release of Yappie!!! I’m excited to see the rest of it!
blogilates ii
Hiiii Cassie!
Congrats bro definitely will be watching the next release of yappie keep up the great work 🔥🙏
That dude Filipino american who speaks at the start has a same voice tone like Zuko's from Avatar or im just wrong.
At first I though of Aziz voice.
he was the voice actor for zuko
He's the voice actor haha
Years later and still never fail to see people say this lmao
He was the voice actor for Zuko! Also was in the old Peter Pan movie with Robin Williams
Yoo! Good stuff! Glad that you guys weren't afraid to touch on a lot of those topics. Most people don't realize how much we need to have these conversations in order to increase our representation...anywhere.
Is that what this is!? If representation is what asians want; then a huge majority of Asians would have to be on board of showing that we want respect from society. In DOING so, we must respect ourselves, other asians(which I haven't seen, because we live in a fallen world), AND other ethnicities. Fighting with words is great, but the second you start impolite comments to other "races", you've lost your argument. Then it just sounds like Complaining, which every "Race" thinks that they're entitled to. I just hope the rest of these films don't portray kindness and morals as a "Bad" thing. If this generation of Asians rise by playing it "unsafe"; we ARE no better than past societies. Why can't we play it safe(verbally fight, without disrespecting others) and still get respect that any other PERSON should deserve!?
This comes off as so cringy and pretentious yet insecure to us "huwites" who have actually lived in East Asia and probably know more about it than 99% of Asian Americans... that was just the first minute, hopefully it gets better and isn't just 10 minutes of AAs venting over a self constructed inferiority complex.
Edit--- it didn't, the SJW victimology cringe just kept going. This is the kind of brain damage that had Chinese-Americans protesting "Yipipo" wearing Japanese Kimonos at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The AA SJW fragility is real yo... I'd love to see some introspection on the insecurities of AA SJWs, that would make a great video.
Naomi Tonkin. Haha... very nicely said... I kinda agree.
-- please like my comments back... thank you. KC.
FUNG BROS. Hi, it's been a while since I've seen anything from You Guys, as well as Wongfu; but this I'll probably watch...
As a 1.5 generation Korean, though, I want to say something about a societal issue as how I see it, if anyone's interested...
It deals with an issue Wongfu has covered a few times, but I take it from slightly different perspevtive...
Take this with a Bit of Humor, but..
..living in LA, I forget that, "Not all Asians are Created Equally" -- a long time quote..
When I was a kid, my parents taught me to correct people if they thought I was Chinese... because they wanted me to be aware of the different Asian groups, and their cultures...
But today in LA, there's a Problem of Bunching All Asians as one group...
I say "Problem" because there's a disgusting problem going on... regarding Asian group misrepresentation when it comes to yellow fever or white-worshipping..
A person from Thailand, (with all of its wonderful culture), shouldn"t be confused with someone from Japan with its own wonderful culture... just saying..
Societal problems in our community are complex, and concern stuff that go beyond just..
whether or not we're being properly represented on the Big Screen although that's important too, I guess...
I may sound like an ignorant asshole, but in LA, one real issue concerns little 'Southern Asian' Girls with the Excessive Giggling ,(usually from: Thailand, Taiwan, or sometimes Vietnam).
They as a group are currently, in my opinion, the Biggest White-Worshippers, for some strange reason...
And, They Try to Bunch all Asian Girls (Korean, Japanese, Northern Chinese, etc.) as "all Asian girl."
This becomes Advertisement because we all know that These People Aren't Quiet- both vocally and unfortunately visually as well, for some strange reason again...
but, this is just my humble opinion...
Most Asian girls I know Are Not Like This, I'll add ...
Although They're the Minority, it sometimes doesn't seem that way because of this reason.
I now personally say-- go for Mexican Girls too; they're more down to earth and less up-in-the-air, it seems...
Plus, You Don't Have to Try to Guess if she's Retarded-- just kidding..
Finally, to the little South Asian girls (by my definition above), Sorry to burst your bubble but,
Please See : UA-cam
"ANATOMY OF THE HUMAN BODY"
(minute 34: 08).
... if you don't have two minutes to invest right now, basically...
This normal German and British guy
(they don't say what but he's there naked for educational purposes, I guess)
really stands infront of class with the smallest, narrowest, dic on the planet (Erect or flaccid). END OF STORY.
Finally, l'll include this part because it sounds funny to me...
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER than repeated words or survey done by goofy, insecure, dead guys...
It's 2018, just upload your little dic up here ON UA-cam for educational purposes next time, instead of trying to survey other people-- you BETA piece of shits... Haha..

Naomi Tonkin. ... very nicely said again... I agree with you.. I'm not talking about cases like yours; and you don't live in LA...
Went and binged all 5 episodes. The narratives of asians chugging along in a safe, protected bubble and not caring about anything else outside the bubble, trying to live up to parental expectations, and fear of parental rejection of who you are and who you may have in your life - they all hit close to home for me. And as I have gotten older, these are the things that I have been thinking about - so to see these struggles and narratives played out in media and these stories being told is something I want to applaud you for doing. Well done. Look forward to season 2.
This is very ironic.. I'm a filipino american.. My name is Andrew.. I am kind of thinking about living a comfortable life.. and I'm studying to become a software engineer also. Lol.
Andrew Dupree that’s not a bad thing
I didn’t know Zuko was Filipino lol!
Ur late to the party
*filipino pride intesifies*
☻Here's My Opinion☻ also The American Dragon .... he’s not even Chinese 😔
@@jordinhocharles This day old knowing both about it...really shocking hahaha
Phillipines = fire nation. Confirmed
As an asian engineer named Andrew, this really hits home. Excited for the rest of the series!
YESSSS. We're so here for this. Great job on sharing stories that are desperately needed. 💖😍Keep up the amazing work and we're looking forward to the next episode!
Sending love from the entire Jubilee family.
Wooooo!!! JUBILEEEEEE!
THANK YOU GUYS ❤️❤️❤️
HI JUBILEE ILY GUYS TOOOOO
I need MORE!!!!!
Damn dante doesnt even have to try to change his voice and he still sounds like my favorite sifu hotman
I love how eloquently this addresses such big issues to increase others' understanding, but without ignoring or putting down other POC.
I’ve been waiting for this ever since it was announced. It’s so hard to find Asian lead shows or movies in Western culture and that’s why I love Wong Fu. This series is so different and I love it because unlike the other content on this channel where it is usually about a character who happens to be Asian, it shows what it is like to be Asian growing up in America. It’s a new perspective that you don’t see a lot. I’m looking forward to see how this series continues.
Joanna N watch Into the Badlands, it’s pretty gory but it’s good. Staring Daniel Wu :))
Timestranger90 great f*#&ing show.
Why is this UA-cam channel so under rated? I mean... The content is too good... And must be among the top channels!
They don't upload a lot that's probably why and cuz they put it all put at once at there website
Vishal Neelan Pinto i always think about that. It's just not fair because the quality is so good. but Wong Fu have some royal fans who appreciate them.
crescent moon it's just their content comes out like every 5 months
Dracula The Vampire their second channel is very active and it’s still super underrated. Most of the youtubers posting 2-3 videos in 1 day but c’mon look at their contents.
It’s honestly cuz they don’t step out of the box. They aren’t keeping up with the times. Look at Shane Dawson, James Charles, and Try Guys for example. They are always switching up their content and keeping it exciting and fresh
Just found out about this now. Going to watch every single episode.
This was super relatable and very eye-opening to us Asian Americans. Being an AA studies major, this really touched base on how misunderstood the model minority stigma is! Loved it and I know the whole series is gonna be great! 🙌🏻❤️
Bridget Ho ... very nicely said...
HOLY SHET. THE PLATTER ANALOGY IS ALL MY FEELINGS IN WORDS I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD EXPRESS.
I know right
It's so true OMG
weird, it struck me as basic bitch SJW tripe.
Spencer Austin-Martin totes weird
Kazmanian Devil yup!
And we start with Dante Basco. YASS
sohowslife YESSSSS REPRESENTING FILIPINO AMERICANS 😭💛
DANTE BASCO IS THE VOICE OF ZUKO FROM AVATAR THE LAST AIR-BENDER IM SO HAPPY
I knew I recognized his voice!
Ro Saxena And Jake Long the America Dragon 💕
Dante Basco is American dragon jake long and zuko from avatar 😍😍😘😘
This is so good, and i haven't even finished watching. Who ever produced this is so gifted
“Hello America”
Me: HI PRINCE ZUKO..I mean Dante
I think it's perfectly normal for us to live normal and safe lives. That's what our parents chased the American dream for. For us to live safe and normal lives.
Deejay Mercado yes exactly, I mean that's the reason why they migrated to a better country so that we as the next generation can get a better future. The problem is alot us take it for granted the unlimited number of opportunities that we get here and say it's safe, instead of being thankful and grateful for the lives we get.
we are all grateful, the problem isnt being grateful trust me, every second generation asian (and further) is and has always been grateful of what their parents have done...it's just society has changed so much that what we were taught growing up is slowly becoming less and less relevant to current society's wants and needs. As the next generation of the model minority, we dont need to replicate what our parents had gone through because those times are over (e.g. escaping war, fighting off low weekly income etc.) however, this is where the problem arises. Do we abandon those values we were taught from in the beginning as children to discover the "new world" or do we keep them in hopes of continuing our core tradition and values as "first generation asians"?
For their kids to get brainwashed or possibly get shot you mean?
"american dream" looks like youre one of the brainwashed ones
KGrace peace ✌️☮️. I'm not here to fight you. This series was meant to start a conversation of unity. Not infighting within our community. I'm thankful for my heritage and I'm also grateful for having the opportunity to live in a country that does not oppress my freedom to do anything within the confines of the law. My point is, do we really need to differentiate ourselves from one another and have 2 types of asian groups of yappie or yippie and hate on one another. We need to accept our differences and speak up for one another including our brothers and sisters from other cultures whether Mexican, black, or white. We need to be United again.
This is where I first saw Simu Liu, now he's a Marvel lead
Hearing Zuko’s voice and seeing the guy behind the voice at the same time is blowing my mind🤯
This is a very deep piece filled with hundreds of onion layers worth slicing. Can tell Wong Fu really put a lot of thought into the narrative of this piece. It's a huge coming to age piece for Wong Fu - as its core Asian-American audience has gotten older, yet new generations of Asian American, who have far more access to new media and content creation tools than previous generations.
Without spoiling too much, I don't think there's anything wrong with pursuing a financially stable life (like Andrew did). It's what you do afterwards, and that's where it's very easy for people to stay in that plateau. Once you have financial stability, you have the option to leverage that responsibility and privilege to contribute to the world, both small or big. Whether it be breaking racial barriers, increasing economic opportunity, getting involved in politics or education, etc. - giving back is what creates a globally resilient world.
Francis Chen well said! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I could have written that tripe, it was simple SJW victimology from an Asian American position. The delivery was preachy marxist cringe.
@@spencer5028
You must be talking about the stand-up guy's monologue. Because what you're saying doesn't apply to the piece as a whole. The piece as a whole satirizes or criticizes SJW victimology and fetish for sexual deviation and condemnation of family values. You just chose to see it as supporting SJWs. It doesn't.
We need Ryan Higa to guest star on this!
Jjfamsquad 25 Nah. He needs to be a consistent permanent character on the show.
Hey, they at least got him to appear in Single by 30.
and anna akana
Yes pleeaaasseeee
I could cry, this series means so much to me. I'm so proud of WFP even a year later. ❤
I'm sooo proud and happy that this series is gaining traction! Love this and the work you guys do. Excited to watch the rest, I'm waiting every week to build the anticipation haha. Thanks for voicing the Asian community's struggles and experiences.
I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to be safe or getting a good career. My Indian and white engineering friends want a comfortable life too. Everyone eventually does. Nothing wrong with taking up traveling around the world either for a year. And what does it mean that he doesn't want to change the world? An Asian engineer doesn't want to change the world? Engineers are changing the world every day.
obesechicken13 #yep
obesechicken13 it’s bad to be middle class.. which is like the majority of every culture!
Damn you missed the whole point
The point isn't that there is anything wrong with playing it safe, the point is that when he is given the opportunity to do more, he chooses not to, it is perfectly fine to be comfortable, like you said everyone strives for a comfortable lifestyle, but as a minority, obtaining any type of privilege would be best to use to raise other up with you, instead of just being content with your own life and not worrying about others who have suffered the unfairness of systematic racism you might be 'eligible' for by simply being a minority. And yes engineers do change the world. But this video is talking about a different type of change, a change of mindset. Which is just as important. I hope that can explain a bit, best of luck!
Spoken like the true middle class.
Thanks for creating content like this! I definitely missed these types of productions on youtube. But I'm excited for the rest of the videos! Being an Asian-American, so much content resonated with me and some even I've never thought about. I'm intrigued about what else I'll learn about myself, my culture, and others with those experiences along this journey. Great job!! 🤩
Wow! The quality of the cinematography and the fresh plot is so impressive. I'm so glad that there are filmmakers out there that continue to dive deeper into the unique experience of being Asian American!
All I could hear from the first guy was "I will capture the avatar."
When it’s nearly 5AM and you’re about to sleep but WONGFU decides to upload a video... well bye bye sleep I guess
Jess Kidding definitely can relate. And we have the same time zone! Haha
Same lmao its 5:27 😂
I was going to wake up early but I slept in so I'm online watching it now
Yup 2 am here and got sucked in.
I see now why this channel is so important. It’s one of very few spaces where asian Americans get fair representation and their experiences authentically told.
i saw this a few days ago, TIME TO BINGE WATCH BABY! glad you guys have this option. really appreciate it guys. always happy to support yall
HOLYYYYY. I'm so excited for this. This is gold. We NEED a series like this! WF you are the best!!!
THE WAIT IS FINALLY OVER!! IM SO HAPPY!!!
We're happy you're yappie! ....happy! ❤️
Wong Fu Productions
Lol😁
Thank you WongFu!
I've been trying to grasp the conflict in myself. Feeling insecure between being the playing it safe/model minority and influencing the world as well as how society views Asians.
I'm so excited to see how this series will progress (probably buying the whole thing on vimeo as soon as I get home from vacation) and hope for finding some clarity for myself.
Thank you again for the constant representation of asians in your work and now the next step with yappie, specifically targeting the uniqueness of this situation.
Greetings from Germany (so no yappie but it's still somewhat relatable over the atlantic)
Love this series! & awwww I'm so happy for Olivia Sui :) she is a sweetheart.
It's been such a journey growing up with Wong Fu these past 10+ years and I'm so, so glad that you guys are bringing this kind of content into your work. You occupy such a unique space in Asian American storytelling and it's awesome you're using your platform to bring these conversations to the table. The entire episode was one incredibly insightful observation after another and so clearly articulated the thoughts I'd been thinking the past few years. Thanks for always staying true to brand and I can't wait for the rest of the series and more of this kind of content!
This seems interesting. Very direct and confrontational of a big issue in today's society. No sugarcoating. I'm hooked
Yessssss, I see conversations and questions happening in the comments. Thank you Wong Fu for the endless hours of blood, sweat, and tears and COURAGE for creating something you believe in: a show that unapologetically explores the Asian American identity and gives us a platform for which to begin publicly engaging in these conversations. And moreover, showing studios and networks that Asians CAN lead a series and there’s a DEMAND for it. Thank you for being a catalyst for more Asian American representation :)
shutupanddance you were geat in this Julie! :-)
Julie Zhan is a superstar. Great throughout but simply amazing in Episode 4.
Seemed just like run of the mill SJW victimology cringe with an Asian American flavor
shutupanddance Hi, ... very nicely said... I totally agree..
shutupanddance How many 's' are there in your 'Yessssss' (?)-- i counted six.. haha..
i really love this series. it's such a creative and important concept and it deserves so much attention
I wasn't expecting this much of a dose of reality but WOW this really hit close to home and honestly thank you so much for being willing to do this for so many people who need it even if it didn't have a lot of support or funding.. wishing you guys the best of luck and success with this series I really really hope it makes it big because this is a story that needs to be told that many people brush off 💜
When the Fire nation had enough.
I’m just waiting for some comments on avatar
KeePheng Vue I was looking for something about prince zuko
KeePheng Vue : That's nice, but remember these issues are more important than fantasy film
Prince Zuko was okay but Rufio was epoch
I just imagined Zuko saying everything Dante Basco did and I’m having an existential crisis
Loving this so much Wong Fu. Enjoying your productions for years. Awesome work!
Loving it so far! So excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for us 😍
Thankyou Wong fu for creating this series ! Before I make my comment I would like apologies if what I say next will offend or hurt anyone. I was half way through the pilot episode and I’m itching to comment. I don’t know if I’m feeling upset, annoyed or disappointed. When I was in my early 20s still in uni have all my dreams and aspiring towards them wanting to save the world wanting to make a big difference. Fast forward 3 years later in my mid 20s, I was lucky to get a good paying job bought a house being the filial daughter to my mum then bang mum was hit with terminal cancer, then I had to resign from my job. I am really bless I’m away because another opportunity came and it was closer to home = closer to mum if anything happens to her I’m 10 min away and my aunt came over from VN to help look after mum whilst I work to financially support the family. Mum lasted for 11 months, when we found out it was the final stage of lung cancer sucks because she never smoke ! It was natural cause. She lived on for 11 months. I then step into the role of a sister and parent to my 10 year old brother just us 2 with no other family to support us. My aunt had to go back to VN. It was difficult I never got to grieve straight away because my mind was I need to settle all mums finances her will any unpay debt and bills she still had. Ontop of that I had my own mortgage to worry about too. It’s teally overwhelming and I feel like in a blink of an eye I saw my dreams and hope fades. It wasn’t until a year after mums first anniversary that I grieve and it was like this dark abyss and I constantly had suicidal thoughts in the back of my mind. I can’t help but feel bitter and angry at my friends, they still have their parents and seem to have good family support. Facebook made me depress with everyone’s status. I feel so alone and dark the abyss was swallowing me in, I really wanted to go and I wanted to be with my mum. To continue living without her I just couldn’t bare it and at that time I felt like my mere existence was just work hard to pay off the mortgage and looking after my brother. I’m nothing more than that ... one whole year I was trapped in this mindset it wasn’t until I realised there’s still hope and I see that through my little brother, I re-asserted my thoughts day by day it wasn’t something over night it was gradual process: yes mum has passed on yes it is painful and difficult without her because she was my one unconditional love she was my protector my guidance my best friend. No I can’t move on BUT I need to accept her death and be ok to continue living with that. I can work hard so that I can provide for my little brother to achieve his own dreams - though I do go tiger mummy on him at times , I try to be the best sister and parental role. I never realised he also grieved in his own way , he was 10 was mum passed, I never seen him cry or express anything later I found out he was secretly crying he told me he had to be strong for me that broke my heart. Eventually I made time to see a counsellor just for a few sessions and it was nice to talk about the negativity I felt and it was nice to feel validated. My little brother didn’t want to continue seeing the his school counsellor after one session , and don’t want to force it on him. Though I’m still grieving and it still hurts but my brother and I are at a good place now. It’ll be her 2 year anniversary soon in a few days it’s a bittersweet as she passed on my birthday.
Ok that I was really long I’m sorry ... what I’m trying to express is that sometimes things happens in your life that you can’t control and what your hopes and your dreams are in the past might change later due to circumstances, but you shouldn’t let others judgement affect you as a person. I don’t think it’s a bad thing if you work 9-5pm mon-fri live in a nice house and a nice suburb. I work weekends and nights so that me and brother can live comfortably, and afford to pay my mortgage. Sometimes being in a safe bubble is nice because you don’t have to constantly worry if you suddenly drop dead who’s going to raise your young siblings or children if you have no other relatives or family to rely on. I wish I can turn back time and mum will still be alive. I wish I’m in a bubble because I can have a social life and meet my friends every week but I can’t. I wish I can experience romantic love but I can’t. I’m not complaining but I’m just trying to say to someone like me that bubble feel a lot nice. Anyway despite what has happened I’m content my brother is with me, I still have a good paying job, a roof over our heads and that we’re not on the streets . It could have turned a lot worse but it didn’t
Thank you to anyone who reads this sorry it was so long to get my point across.
Kim N thank you
Olivia in Wong Fu 😍
Go Team Smosh
Eunoia Peace bad acting
Amazing! Thank you for sharing the common world of YAPPIE in the Asian community! Giving us a more self aware view about ourselves! You have no idea how long we waited for this to be heard! Always doing the most for us, WONG FU!
My wife and I are really enjoying Yappie! It provides an incredibly insightful and humorous look outward from a perspective that is both similar and different from our own. It’s a fun way to see the world through someone else’s eyes, and discover how much we have in common. Keep up the good work-as in PLEASE make Season 2!!!
Lord Zuko!! Preach!
Yes!! Thank you! When I heard his voice I was like, huh its seems kinda weird and...familiar? And he looks familiar too...I wouldn't have noticed until you pointed it out! I'm getting too hype over a avatar wongfu crossover so I'll end this rant here..
Oh no.... I'm old. I see Dante Basco and immediately think of Rufio. Also Zuko... but Rufio comes to mind first.
FOR THE CULTURE!
lmaooo annyeonghaseyo John
this was great. cant wait to watch the rest of the series. I closed my eyes in the beginning and heard Zuko performing spoken word. happy for wong fu!!!
Literally been teaching and talking to my students about this. So glad to see this. Thank you Wong Fu :)
I quit my job to travel 6 months ago and my dad flipped out. we haven't talked since then. this video gives me so much perspective - he's probably worried af :/
been a fan since the qingfeideyi days, keep making these crazily relatable videos
Both my parents were Yippies
I wish mine were that cool 😂
Great job, Brad. When Victoria kicked you under the table in Episode 4, I could definitely relate.
You're so lucky you get to boink Anna Akana! So jelly
Yes, yes, yes! I can absolutely relate. You were able to articulate something that I had previously not found words for. Thank you truly for this content.
Seriously you guys nailed it with this series, its brought back me and my highschool buddies together and gives us somethign to talk about.. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thank you Wong Fu for creating such deep and thoughtful content in all of an hour and 20 minutes. I contemplated for 2 days whether I should just pay the $10 and binge the whole series and I am so glad I did! So many lines were spot-on relatable and really addressed so many issues I hadn't even realized other Asian-Americans faced - i.e. having all Asian friends as an Asian is being in a "bubble" but having all white friends as a white person is seen as perfectly normal. Thank you for having the courage to start the conversation about these topics many of us aren't willing to bring up. Hoping for a season 2!
I'm so fucking proud of wongfu for tackling this topic and executing it so well, can't wait to watch more!!
I'm a fan of all the actors! Great first episode. Great message delivered. I'm never disappointed by your videos 💕
HOLY CRAP, respect respect, thank you for giving this amazing show and touching on difficult topics many people are unaware or scared to talk about
This is soooo good!!!!
Hi Olivia! You're so pretty!
OLIVIA!!
Great job Olivia!
U look so different
Okay this is going to sound weird, but I recently came back to Smosh and loved you as a personality there. But when this series came out and your character looked so familiar I never realized how much of an amazing actor you were too! I hope we get to see more of you on Wong Fu!
Just binged the whole series and became a careholder! While I agree the dialogue was a little heavy, really appreciate Wong Fu for not being afraid to talk about these issues and can feel your heart beating through this production.
Wong Fu Productions have been in the UA-cam business for a very long time. I never had a favorite video because they were all amazing. Then came The Last, that took my heart and made it blossom💙. I'm so glad to see yappie and hope too see more seasons of it in the future 💙
Watched the entire season and you’ve left us at a very deep ended cliff hanger. I’ll pay for moreeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! Great job guys!
I love this so much and I cannot tell you how amazing it feels as a teenage Asian American to see such representation. Thanks to everyone who took a part in creating this because I look up to all of you so so so much! :) You're all AWESOME and so inspiring!!!!
guys it's so good!! watched it yesterday bc i'm a careholder but had to come back to make sure another view got tacked on! SO EXCITED to see the rest!
I keep coming back and re watching this whole series! I can’t wait for season 2! 😭🔥
love that speech in the beginning--so relevant to 2020/1. always something I felt growing up but couldn't articulate. great job guys 🙌
Just want to express how much I appreciate the content Wong Fu makes! Been here since high school and now I’m somewhat a yappie too - I feel like I’ve grown with Wong Fu and now learning and learning more about biculturality in the Asian community. You guys are great!
I really do appreciate the message of this first episode - but I really think Wong Fu should incorporate a more show, rather than tell, approach in their writing and dialogue - especially for this series, where more complex issues are being addressed. This style of being overtly direct, as seen in, for example, their short comedies and skits, where internal monologuing of thoughts are used to convey ideas, are definitely more suited and successful for that context and genre. But for a series that is supposed to be beyond their usual content, I think it’s within Wong Fu’s best interest to capitalise on this opportunity to show-off their visual story-telling abilities. Show us what makes Andrew a _Yappie,_ rather than have his date announce it. We know from the trailer, from the title, that he is one - but we as an audience should still _feel_ that he is. I know I’ve only watched the first episode and that I should not judge it too quickly. But these are some initial thoughts. I will continue this series loyally, because I truly love most of your previous work. I hope you don’t take this criticism the wrong way - I in no way claim to be a better writer or filmmaker, I definitely just see a missed opportunity, when one expresses these unique ideas in such a straightforward, almost awkward, way. Best wishes.
Ash Chan it just seems “too scripted” and unnatural
To me it came off as cringy and pretentious yet insecure and that was just the first minute, hopefully it gets better and isn't just 10 minutes of AAs venting over a self constructed inferiority complex.
As someone who enjoys wong fu content most of the time, I do have to agree with this comment. Wong fu has been maturing their content to more overt adult themes, but they need to work on being more discreet with their purposes.
@@jhasjhis9 The series isn't saying that being a Yappie is bad. It's saying that Asians in society are faced with trying to overcome the stigma that wanting to live a normal life is bad.
I just randomly came to see a video “just another nice guy” and checked out other content. Very well done. I’m intrigued and will watch more of these and send to me buddies.
This was way deeper than I expected from any Asian themed channel on youtube. It definitely touches on issues that are very real in asian western cultures anywhere in the world (I'm from Australia) so it's very relatable.
SO READY FOR THIS
Relatable 😭 so excited for this series!
I didn't think I would ever see you in the comment section. You have wonderful music!

Just paid £10 to watch this series on VIMEO :) You guys have my support !
I know you guys don't get as much attention as you'd like, but I have been a loyal viewer from the beginning and on behalf of all the viewers, we'd like to thank you for continuing your journey in giving us amazing content that we can relate to. Cheers! Excited for the next episode.

I wish I could meet woke Asians but every single one (including the ones I grew up with) seem to cherish their relationships with white folks more than other Asians
can’t believe doesn’t have important appointments elsewhere mentioned before destroying towns elsewhere expect ourselves trust don’t know how long it isn’t much longer didn’t having the opportunity to go to this place and have an opportunity unpleasant places expect secure true or false hope to be interested every year mentioned property must’ve been an important competition report express program school and the first one on an online basis and then we went to a website and we had to cancel our reservation and they were saying no one would be there and they should opinions person stay at home safe exist truism
okay wait, I've been trying to say this for so frickin long and y'all have put in the perfect words! So glad I found this channel! :)
This is so good and important. I remember watching one of Phil's videos talking about how we need more Asian writers writing about our stories. THIS is it, and already it feels so powerful. Phil, A+ to you for playing the lead because this role is so for you. Sundance nominee at least! Thank you Wong Fu.
StoryGlyph A+ not good enough for Asians. Need A++. Try harder
That was damn amazing
Can't wait to see another EP
Thanks for uploading this video
Long live Wong Fu
Lg much
😍😍
So proud of Wong Fu Productions for always taking on new challenges and keep exploring.
This was far better than I thought it was going to be. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
I want to get this to a million views, WFP deserves it. Everything you produce is so high quality, raw, introspective and honestly just inspiring as a fellow Asian American artist. ❤
I'm Nigerian. Yappie doesn't concern me. I have bigger Nigerian problems. But I love wong fu productions and when you listen carefully and with an open mind, no matter your race or problems, there is always a connection to your story and something you can learn and apply to your life.
FablingPam truth 👌
FablingPam Hi, ... very nicely said.. I agree..
Holy cow! Love the screen play! Topics are definitely on point, relevant and more or less true. I can relate too wayyy to well! Keep up the great work y'all!
4 mins in, I subscribed cuz this is some quality stuff. How this doesn't have more views is beyond me.
I love this so much already!!
