Like your presentation and calm demeanor Hector............tell me, is your drain flush to the floor or does it sit proud of the flor by 3/8 ths an inch? thank you
Hector you did a really nice job on prep. I really think with that talent you could of float it with out the sticks. And leave out all that extra work cutting the strips then removing them filling in the gaps after u remove them .i prep exactly like u with paper chicken wire but I do all my detail work without the stick some time them stick cutting with saw are not always exactly the same end up w bumps. But I guess they can be scraped off . I like to drymud my outside diameter level about 4 inches level all the way around then work it to drain and play w it till it’s perfect. Try it without the sticks Nice video
allanpennington I used stone on the floor and travertine stone on the walls. As for the flooring prep it is for sub flooring. On cement flooring normally a shower pan is build prior to finishing floor plan.
Save yourself the bullshit and buy a Quick pitch slope system. You are probably saving yourself 15k doing shower yourself so what's the big deal spending another $30.
Great tip on making two pre-slope strips from one thicker piece.
nice job Hector, good video.

Keith Owens the drain sits proud of the floor. I cut the floor in a bevel where the drain sits. As for the mortar, I used quikrete sand / topping mix.

TONY thank you for your input and watching the video. I greatly appreciated it and will try it on future projects
You did a good job so far...more vids?
Thank you for this video. Great job.
Was this for tile or vinyl non slip shower in the end? I assume you must use this prep method on a ply floor substrate?

If you have different height up front, your tiles would not match in height as you go around the walls, right?
not if you start the tiles at the same size. You cut each first coarse of tile along the pan a bit differently to make up for that.
Height came out even all around. I will make a video of finish shower soon.
Hector you never use Douglas fur with any concrete or mortar it will rot you have to use PT wood , besides that good job my friend.
In the last few seconds of the vid, he explains how he takes out the wood pieces and fills in the gaps.
Juan Ochoa red guard that shit
Good job
I'm a DIY . Are you using concrete for your drip pan?
Its called quick shower pitch. 42 with taxes at home depot. Save hours of prep.
claiton jorge thanks Jorge. On my next rest room here at home I will buy those instead of trying to make them.
Agree,I thought the same thing. With that system you don't have to pull them out either, I think.
Once your second mud bed went in yiu were almost level with your hop up.
Hector, show us the finished disaster, errr i mean shower....
Hell ya
That doesn’t like to pay 😂😂😂😂
Woodglut comes with very useful plans with all the details you need.
