- This Fishman Fluence Classic Humbucker Open Core Pickup Set is a great sonic upgrade for your guitar. Unlike most wire-wound pickups, Fluence pickups manage to deliver the classic humbucker sound - without noise or inductance issues. This pickup offers three distinctly different voices - a clear, vintage-sounding PAF humbucker, a muscular, hot-rodded humbucker, and a vintage-style single-coil tone. Here's Nick Jennison with the full rundown.

Forgot about these pickups for that first minute completely haha. Was locked in to homeboy’s flawless legato technique! Very impressive, dude! \m/
Thanks a bunch ! My ESP eclipse is equipped with them. Absolutely love the versatility of these pickups and now I actually know how to use them correctly ! Great playing !
The single coils tho! Wow! All voices sound great.
Best review I saw so far about these PU‘s. 👌🏻
First one that let us know what it sounds like, if the 3-way toggle is in the middle postion!! Many THX from Germany.
Also that you put an eye on a critical group of pedals related to the active PU‘s🤟🏻
THIS is how you do a review! Great job, guys! Dude playing rips too! \m/
Wow, so many great tones and awesome playing!
THANKS FOR DOING THIS!!
This is the video that got me to finally pull the trigger on these over Suhr Thornbucker+’s 💪🏽😎🙏🏽🏝️
And how are you liking them ??
@@CBGypsy03 I’m loving them! So versatile and expressive.
@@keokiheller4351 excellent! I would imagine you had to buy pots and caps seperate ?? Do you recommend a value of pots ?
You sold me on these so quick.
Great review :-) I only have one guitar - I'm getting these to give me the most options.
What an excellent presentation. 👍
Glad you liked it!
excellent review, nice.
Dude I just got a Schecter v7 with the fisherman's and oh my God it sounds so good on your video but I need to go down and plug it into my stack or stacks I should say I got a couple hundred Waters going to go down and plug them in and if it sounds half as good as you do I did it good thing LOL thank you for the video man and you are a ripper bro thank you I really enjoyed your playing probably more than the sound cuz I can get the tone and I can do my scales and stuff but compared to you dude you are off the hook Love your hooks and your riffs keep up the good work and you're on your way or you're probably already there I should say you rock bro FUNNY BUT I LOVE YOUR PLAYING BETTER THAN THE INFORMATION!!!!!!!
Damn these sound super good. I may have to add them to my 79 "The Paul". It currently has the original T-Tops which are cool but I just don't jive with their clean tones at all in the all walnut neck/body.
I'm sold
Demo what? That fucking clean ass shred bro god damn
When you have both pots pulled out what happens does it go 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏼🐐
The actual sound you need to hear starts at 14:52
If you hqve the modern pick ups and want to chqnge to these, are there a lot of sodering required to get all 3 voices?
Stefan Öhlin yes quite a bit, nothing too difficult but it takes a fair bit of time and attention.
What was the amp ? Sounds rather awesome ! Also, excellent playing as usual !
jtmarinuk Victory Super Kraken
I'm looking at using these for my praise band.
This guy is a fucking legato master!! what strings are you using and what amp already know the pups..
I JUST INSTALLED FISHMAN FLUENCE CLASSICS IN MY CUSTOM, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THEY HAVE NO EQUAL...NOTHING AND I MEAN NOTHING COMES CLOSE I HAD DUNCANS, EMGS, ALL THE TOP BRANDS AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN..THESE ARE LIFE CHANGING....
I bought this exact guitar earlier in 2019 and it does not have the push-pull pots... it has Zebra humbuckers, probably a Godin branded humbucker?
The Fishman are aftermarket
what pickups are in that PRS?
Is it possible to just use the neck pickup with my emg retro 70?
Technically yes, Fishman will run off a 9v. It would be easiest to pull off in a 2v, 2t setup. Nothing stops you from mixing.
I like the sustain and crackle but didn't hear what they sound like palm muted, no chunk, just shredding and chords... They still to be able to get it done, but that's just a guess.
no pickup is better than another is just different sounds, it is a matter of which pleases your ears the most. most active really is emg !!
Is there a difference between the Fishman Fluence open-core classic and the Fishman Fluence classic pickup?
I don't think there is...
There is AFAIK. This Open Core one has the 3rd voice (single coil). On a Leon Todd video someone wrote this, " @Leon Todd Fishman did add a single coil voice (voice 3) for the classic open core edition that came out later..."
I swear, i thought you were John Frusciante from the thumbnail

Hi, I have a question! I want to install some of this pickups in my Godin. Do I have to drill some additional holes in the body of the guitar?
Kind of a vague question. Give more info
@@jayz6008 how? While installing you either do or do not need to drill. It doesn’t matter where
@@padawan9127 without knowing the model of the guitar how will anyone know if the pickups need to be direct mounted ? He also didnt mentioned if he wanted a battery compartment or anything . It's a vague question.
Now you can get these as stock on the Charvel 24-fret teles lol
Thats what brought me here! Im considering that spesific charvel so i had to google these pickups.
@@peterthomas3589 did you ever pull the trigger on the charvel? I’m eyeing one up myself
@@padawan9127 Hi. No i did not, i guess something else had to be prioritized..Its expensive to be a guitar junkie😁🤘
@@peterthomas3589 definitely. It’s not a decision to take lightly 😀
They need a seven string that
Anybody throw these in an SG ? Enough room in the cavity ?
Who wants to walk with Elias?!
Hahaha nice
😀
Haha those pickups nearly cost as much as the godin here in canada, even closer if you get one used.
Since they use a preamp, why not balance the outputs of each mode? My guess: if you do that, they all sound similar.
Bill Lorentzen Because they don’t use a Preamp. They only thing about them that is active is the switching. Normal pickups are made by tiny thin copper wires wrapping around each bobbin of the Humbuckers with a magnet in between and a set of screws and pole pieces to pull on the strings magnetically. What’s different about all of the Fishman Fluences is that the copper is printed onto super thin stacked up pcb boards rather than wrapped around the bobbin. So each bobbin is a stack of these printed coils but works essentially the same way. What the switcher does is select the coils it uses in each voicing. So that’s a lot different than something like an EMG that’s always powering it if that makes sense.
A Very Dead Horse but they do use a preamp. The output is buffered (low impedance). Ain’t getting that from passive pickups. It’s also how the single coils have an optional 3dB boost.
Carl Wictorin I mean partially yes but for the most part it’s coil selection. Or that’s how the website as well as Greg Koch and Ken Susi explained it. Like with an EMG and most active pickups there are very few actual winds on the bobbin whereas these seem to be built differently.
FYI: These are not made for high gain metal.
Why not?
You do realize that the Keith Merrow set is basically a modified version of the classics ? And he tunes to drop #A. These can easily be used for metal if you have the right amp setup . Many people use low gain pickups for metal, one example is the guitarist of Gojira. Some people rely on their amp for the high gain rather than the pickups.
