- Hello Everyone in todays video we take a look at a Problem I had with the Caravans ATC (Automatic Trailer Control). ATC is a an electronic Braking System by Alko it prevents the Caravan from Snakeing and applies the Caravans Brakes. Thanks for Watching, Phil

Many thanks for the advice its clearly a simple fault that could develop at anytime. As we receive a discount on our insurance due to the fact of having ATC on our caravan.The insurance make it clear that the ATC must be activated/functional for every journey. Failure to do this would void any insurance claim for a loss of control accident. 👍👍👍

Cheers for this one Phil. Just goes to show what a headache a simple connector fault can cause. I wonder whether or not the plug was ever 100% plugged in "until it clicked". Glad you got it sorted and here's to trips away 😀

Thanks for sharing this one Phil, I think I may have the same problem with my 2020 Bailey as there is no light displayed on the ATC. I will carry out your suggested checks and see what I can uncover.

Hi Colin. Thanks for watching. Just to let you know the LED could also be faulty. We had ours replaced after owning the van just 6 weeks. Replacing the LED is very easy to do. Thanks again and welcome to the Channel. Phil🙂👍
@@lostweekendscaravan thanks Phil, I will check that too. No noise coming from the brakes when I connect so suspect it could be deeper than a bulb unless the bulb is part of the circuit.

Hi Colin. There is very little that can go wrong mechanically. Try the fuse, cable connection and test your connection from the Tow Car. Hope this helps. Phil🙂👍

Hi Phil, I’ve got a 2018 Sprite Major 6TD. Did you get the ATC fitted as a dealer fit option, as mine didn’t come fitted with that as standard?

Hi I’ve bought a caravan with this fitted my car doesn’t feed the power to it . Is it just a live feed it needs to go to the pin in the plug and it will activate?
Hello the answer is yes it requires a live feed from the car. If you have a universal wiring from the car this maybe the issue. The best wiring system is a car specific for your make and model. I hope this helps. Phil.
@@lostweekendscaravan thanks for the response. So if I loop a wire from the constant live at my plug into the pin that would feed my ATC would that work? It could literally be done at the back of the socket with the correct rated wire??
ATC didn’t exist I don’t think back in 2003 when my Elvis was made 😜
