Thanks so so much for that video. We are currently in Croatia and the mover on the left side stopped working. I applied your fix and am back up and running. You have made our holiday!!!
Thanks for this video Dan, I had the same problem after a somewhat noisy disengage of the mover the last time used before first lockdown. Next time used 15 months later the mover faulted as yours. I pulled the facing cover off and discovered a loose 17mm bolt meant to hold part of the mover still. Tightened it up and then followed your procedure. Well done, a truly great posting saving a lot of worry, and so simple.
Our powrtouch stopped working...couldn't get hold of powrtouch so found this video...followed it and hey presto it's now working fine....many thanks for sharing this video
Thanks so much for your video. Dad brought his caravan was back home yesterday and said my mover don't work. Upon activating it, it made a slight noise, but nothing happened with either motor. If only I had seen your video before yesterday as we would not have needed to have arms like an orangutang to move the thing LOL. Turns out our mover was identical to yours, so followed what you had said by prising off the bung, tried to turn it but it was solid not going backwards. So tried to turn it the otherway and again that was stuck, so gave it an extra but of strength and it suddenly wound forwards. I wound it forwards a couple of turns and then wound it back gently until it stopped. I repeated it for the other side. Turned on the mover and activated it. Blow and behold it worked. As you say the instructions troubleshooting are really no help when the motors get stuck. So many thanks for doing this video 👍 You've made my dad very happy and he now knows what that red T piece was for that he stuck in his toolbox all this time 😂
Dan you are a hero! Same thing happened to me this morning with the caravan slewing at me on a slope. Checked your channel and it was sorted in minutes. Thanks. Geoff
I don’t have this ‘self engaging’ motor mover so it doesn’t apply to me however I love the fact that you guys have made a vid showing your issue you’ve experienced. You really do provide a public service. Top work 👍😉
Thank you very much kind sir for putting this video up have just spent the last 2 hours checking the wiring to no avail. Five minutes on UA-cam and I am sorted Many thanks
EDIT: perfect, you fixed it for me.... I used a 7mm socket (but will still buy a replacement T-Key) and moved the spindle all the way back. Switched on, tried to auto engage rollers on, nothing... BUT top tip is even though the rollers were off the tyres, I hit the remote to get the 'rollers off' and it engaged, whirred a millisecond, stopped and then when I tried to auto engage SUCCESS all four motors on all four wheels whirred forward and it worked. Thank you for a great vid. OP: Thanks, I have the same model but it's the 4 motor (twin axle) and two opposite motors have stopped engaging.... hoping it is not a bigger issue, so I will try this.... although I don't have the T-Key. Mover was new on (new) van in 2014 and we have never had this T-key, nor needed it until until now I guess. I assume yours came with the mover, or did you buy the T-key separately please? (I will go buy one, they appear to be 10/12 quid online).
Thank you so much for this video, went over to check on our caravan the wheels for the motor mover would turn but not engage not been used for 10 months now and, thanks to you I know what I have to do big thanks 👌👍
We had this problem on a very early power touch model. (Using the little adapter to turn the screw). Many thanks, the fix worked! Somewhat to my surprise.
I had auto engage on our old van and never trusted it after it once failed to work out of sinc, our new caravan I had manual wind on ones from either side and not a problem , the more technical the more failures and more money , thanks for the videos .
Thanks or the video Dan. Just got back from a couple of days away and putting the Caravan back in storage, and had the same issue with the same auto mover. Was panicking, saw your video, headed straight back to storage at Cricklade ;) and it worked :)
Really appreciate this. Had a small issue recently with lights on the remote but absolutely no response from mover. Though battery must have been too low but after a check that was fine. Tried several times then rebooted all electrics and bingo. So auto engage can be temperamental. Videos like this are therefore very useful.
Nice vlog Dan just a little too I got from the guys at powr touch was after a long lay up etc was to rotate the movers backwards and forwards and doing a left and right turn on the control before auto engagement it just frees things up beforehand. It also works on manual engagement as well as no pressure on motor wheels before they are placed on the wheels
Heard of so many people having this problem with the auto engage version. Very useful for all to see, they should supply that tool with every fitting as it’s not only a few issue. I will stick with our new manual engage model fitted to new c’van of this February.
Thanks for that. Just fixed the problem with mine. Mine was a different cover fixing which just needed to be tapped off gently from the back. My screw was fully out, but a slight turn in released something and it now works fine. Thanks for this and other good advice I've got from you.
Many thanks for the motor mover tip. Not yet read the manuals for our first new caravan ( Swift Elegance 480) after mhomes, we found this tool, which u use here 👍,in the van and wondered what it was for🙄now we know. Great videos which must take a lot of time to produce, the technical stuff is simply and clearly explained and as a newbee to caravan it's saved me ages finding out the basics and avoiding making mistakes / problems. Well done much appreciated ..Stu n Kate
Quick question Dan, have you a vid / any views on full vs porch awning. We like the Isabella magnum Flint 430 for our swift elegance 480 2 berth As its quality and not too heavy , just enough space for us dogs / wet gear bikes etc BUT it attaches to roof rail with side poles against side of caravan ., our dilemma is we see porch awnings people have then added annex I guess because of space or flexibility issues..... Which if we compare to weight of a full awning prob amounts to same. With full awning although heavier it fits snug to caravan rails so no air gaps or poles to fit to side of caravan , perhaps a bit more to build and more of an effort to put up if touring , I guess I'd not bother putting up for a couple of nights but would for a week somewhere, then again would I really spend an hour or more setting up a porch awning for a couple of nights ?? One really doesn't know what more experienced folks do to help inform our decision. I like the thought of a full awning attached to the caravan rails with the added security in weather but not sure about effort to put up , it would go in the car for travel so I guess weight is not quite such an issue, it's that full Monty vs the smaller lighter perhaps quicker to put up porch style ,,,,,, jury still out ,,,,,, any views ? Oh lastly I guess the porch awning might fit future larger van whereas the full awning is caravan specific and one would just have to take a hit selling on 🙄 what's your take on this from you and your community ?. Many thanks if u can elucidate at all Stuart
The very same problem with mine last week and the weather was so crap I lost my patience and I gave it a boot!!! And the bloody thing worked. If I would have had to have got a screwdriver to it then I would have lost the will to live. However thank you because now it is getting brighter I could give that a go! It’s my remote that’s a bit wonky!
Brilliant - very useful for those with auto engage, thanks for sharing Dan - I’ll stick with my manual engage system, it never needs a reset although I do need a drink after use on a twin axle set.
We couldn't believe the difference between single and twin when we had one. It took an age to turn, eventually battery ran out before had turned 190 degrees even.
Rolling with The Robsons I was given a tip that’s helped me out as I have to rotate my van180 to store at home, raise or lower the jockey wheel to it’s maximum adjustment so the caravan is no longer level, more of the weight will be over one axle, it will then turn easier because the lighter loaded wheels will have move give in the sidewalls to flex. Try it and see if it helps....
Nice one Dan. This is the reason we decided against Auto Enagage Movers as I know Damien has had almighty issues with his. So we decided on the Powertouch Freedom. (The old classic) Cheers Oliver
Thank you Dan, just had an issue with one mover not engaging. I did not havd yhe special tool but is is just a 7mm socket, i had one in my 1/4" drive socket set, the rachet and 7mm socket are staying in the van.
I've had 3 motor movers, Truma manual engage, powrtouch electric engage and Reich electric engage. The Powrtouch and Reich are a pain! Slow to engage and even slower to perform. The Powrtouch used to cut out and I was forever turning it off and on again getting it to re-engage and the Reich does the same if it doesnt like the incline. Although with that one, you have turn off and on again using the isolator switch! The simplest and cheapest Truma was instantly engaged, quickly and simply and turned the caravan up steeper inclines and at a speed that didnt encourage a nap while you were waiting for it! Ive followed all advice and even changed the leisure battery to no avail. My son in law with his van uses a manual engage E-go which knocks spots off my present Reich. I think most movers are over rated and over priced and when the Reich goes, (which cost over £1000) I'll be back on the cheapest manual engage again.
Your videos are excellent and for someone new to caravaning very usefull i like to watch you i liked the sun canopy and the waste out let it all good information keep up the good work even if you are stood in could and wet also like how you lower legs to let rain tum off
Where was this video 6 months ago lol! Would have saved a 2 hour round trip to the dealers. Great how to! Its a common problem if you turn the unit off while the remote is still flashing.
Awesome "good to know" video. My motor mover engages using a telescopic wheel nut spanner thingy. It make a god awful clunk when you do it, but it's worked ok so far.
On our new van (a double axle) we opted for a manual engagement model, as we'd heard several reports of auto engage ones having issues. Looks pretty simple to resolve, but manual engagement isn't a problem or time consuming for us
I've got the manual engage on mine, glad I didn't get the fully auto one now. Prefer the resounding clunk mine makes when it's engaged, seems a lot more reassuring, knowing that it's engaged properly, and it's quicker. Nice vid tho, and will help someone I'm sure
Glad we installed manual engage. Never any problems, auto engage system seems so very slow. Noted people saying elsewhere that they have problems also with the controller not working by cutting out whilst moving working leaving them stranded and they check all batteries that are fine and for loose cables etc but just fails after short distance?!
@@TheTrudgians A-ha, ok.... ours didn't have one so buying it..... was installed on new van 2014 so too late to go back to the dealer and claim it's missing but we've never needed it until now.... good vid.

Hi Dan. Great video as ever. I know it's an old one but just watching it now as potentially have an issue with ours. I note you turn the tool anticlockwise but my manual says to turn it clockwise when you have this issue. Any reason why you chose anticlockwise? Thanks
I had the reverse of this problem where it locked on but wouldn't move the wheels. After several hours of phone calls to the dealer I ended up having to go under the caravan and dismantle all 8 locking bolts to get the mover to go back just so I could move into the storage site. 3 weeks later and I'm still waiting for the repair to be done!
Hi I have a Powertouch mover but I'm having trouble with it . The remote is linked to the blue box however the movers aren't doing anything and where the green light is on the remote turns red. I have a 100v battery and now I'm lost what to do next 🤦🏼♀️
Hi Dan sorry change of topic But just enquiring if you had the air con fitted to your caravan If so can you tell me if you think it is worth the money having it fitted Thankyou
Hi mate mine engages but won’t turn the wheel on one side it makes the noise as though it wants to work but still not moving, any ideas many thanks craig.
Nice one but I couldn't be bothered with all that by the time you stop un hook and engage mover I've already reversed my caravan onto site pitch or driveway and that's a twin wheeler. But still sound advise though.
Thanks Dan we have just taken delivery of our new van with a shiny T bar socket in drawer wife "whats this for" me "no Idea but keep it safe. later that night up pops your video in my suggestions - sorted. How do you do that?
Hi Dan. Aren’t these nearly new? Would the supplier/fitter not come out and fix these under warranty? Surely they shouldn’t be failing to operate like this after such light usage?
Hi, the reason why they became out of sync was my eagerness to switch them off. They need to park in a specific position switching them off before this happens leaves them in a "out of sync" state. So, on this occasion its user error.
Hi, generally the motor movers allow an owner to place a caravan or trailer in quite a tight spot, so realistically you would pull up alongside your pitch then use a mover to reverse into a bay. They are no substitute for reversing, however they do allow you to pitch up on quite a tight space. Some of our European sites are pretty tight, so a mover is a good way of allowing everyone to place their 'van on a pitch regardless of reversing skills etc.
This happens when you have previously retracted the mover to it's backstop but turned it off on the remote control unit before it has completed the full sequence ie it will move forward very slightly into its resting position.Hope this helps.
I don't have a motor mover. Used to but it wasn't up to the job. It would appear that the problem of the units going out of sync is significant enough for the makers to amend the cover moulding to make it easier to re-sync. Interesting.
I've used this solution a few times, however the nearside nut has now rounded off......... Really really bad design, had no end of trouble with ours 😢😢
Hi everyone. Anybody had the problem of the motormover slipping on the tyres ? I tried to level my caravan on a ramp but the wheel was slipping on the tyre.
I was told only today that the auto version is an excellent anti theft device but given that you can manually retract the rollers that does not seem to be the case.
Good aren’t they these auto motor movers! Just wait until they don’t disengage thats annoying too. Or they engage ok but refuse to turn the wheels we’ve had both.
Hi Damian. I currently have the issue you describe where the motors will not disengage! I purchased the van second hand and there is no wind back tool in the van I can find? Any suggestions please? Thank you.
Gareth Shaw hi, the first thing powrtouch will probably advise you to do if you call them is to disconnect the battery for a good 15 minutes this will reset the blue box that is fitted somewhere in your van. Also my advice is to ensure your battery is fully charged along with your remote. When you engage the rollers make sure they are fully engaged before trying to move the van. There is a small delay at the very end of the engagement cycle before the green light is given, don’t try to preempt this, just wait and make sure it has finished, I’m sure this caused me issues. As for the lost disengagement tool I’m sure this can be replaced I would personally get one as we have used ours a couple of times. It’s just a hex socket on a long shaft although not sure of the size. One last thing I just remembered never leave the red cut off isolation key on when you have finished this will also cause the unit to close down and will need to be reset by disconnecting the battery. Good luck!
Hi dan I have the same system on my recently bought van and it seems neither wheels will engage but do roll, I was thinking maybe a battery fault in the remote or what I don’t know ,would love to hear your thoughts ,loving the videos btw my man 👍
Morning Colin - I think I turned the mover off too soon when I was fiddling with the jockey wheel. The movers didn’t “park” correctly - that seems to be the issue that owners are too keen to switch off and not wait until it’s finished etc.
Hi Dan,had the same problem only last week on a brand new baily vigo the wife and l had to manover the van by hand to get it onto the car,on the hand over we were not given any key or manual to solve this issue, after getting it back to the dealership one off the workshop lads showed me what to do,the key problem has been solved l think you should explain the reason why this happens to your merry band of followers
Hi we have a power touch classic mover 18 months old we had same issue one side would not engage (manual with spanner) the wheel motors would touch the tyres on both side but when you wanted the caravan to move it would only move the right hand wheel I phoned power touch they got me to run a few checks while on the phone and i found that two bolts were missing on the connecting fame underneath the caravan they sent an engineer a couple of days later to our house who fitted new bolts with locking nuts he reckons the dealers had used ordinary nuts instead of the nylock ones so it worth a quick check to ensure all is ok The mover is now 2.5 years old (5 year guarantee) phoned Power Touch on Thursday about the rubber boots on the end of the motors that insulate the power cables from the battery one of them had perished and the other one has split they have send me two in the post no quibble a good company would recommend to all

@@TheTrudgians thanks for the explanation
Cheers Dan that’s good to know . 👍
I`m in the USA and have never seen motor movers used here. How much are you moving it around without the tow car?
Had my auto engage PowrTouch for 4 years now and never had it do this? Worthwhile knowing if this happens tho.
I've used this solution a few times, however the nearside nut has now rounded off......... Really really bad design, had no end of trouble with ours 😢😢
Excellend, good and well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
Usually happens when the motor mover power as been shut down before its finished repositioning
Hi everyone.
Anybody had the problem of the motormover slipping on the tyres ? I tried to level my caravan on a ramp but the wheel was slipping on the tyre.
Another great video!
Thank you. Perfect
great advise thanks
I was told only today that the auto version is an excellent anti theft device but given that you can manually retract the rollers that does not seem to be the case.
I think the mover has been switched off before the servo motors had reached the rest position ; causing this problem
Manual engage for me. Feel sometimes automatic can create extra problems.
Good to know cheers
Good luck!
@@Lifeat39000ft hi Damian. Thank you for the advice. I switched it off for 20 minutes and retried. I now have the movers working correctly! Cheers! 👍
My power touch evolution has failed at this twice now in 3 years. If I ever install a new one it will be a manual version- and not a power touch!
Hi dan I have the same system on my recently bought van and it seems neither wheels will engage but do roll, I was thinking maybe a battery fault in the remote or what I don’t know ,would love to hear your thoughts ,loving the videos btw my man 👍
My auto engage baffled me for weeks ,turns out I should press middle button and the up arrow ! Not the right arrows
Weeks!
Yet another first class talk. But what made it go wrong to start with?
Morning Colin - I think I turned the mover off too soon when I was fiddling with the jockey wheel. The movers didn’t “park” correctly - that seems to be the issue that owners are too keen to switch off and not wait until it’s finished etc.
Very informative.
top tip there
Hi Dan,had the same problem only last week on a brand new baily vigo the wife and l had to manover the van by hand to get it onto the car,on the hand over we were not given any key or manual to solve this issue, after getting it back to the dealership one off the workshop lads showed me what to do,the key problem has been solved l think you should explain the reason why this happens to your merry band of followers
Manuel only, tried automatic. Rubbish. Also wait till the wire connector comes loose.

billi996.... you’re wrong ....... again
We're only making friends for nige
