Can you tell me if I can heat a packraft zipper with a regular clothes iron? or is a higher temperature required and approximately what temperature? Thank you
@DIY Packcraft Hello, I have a few questions about this technique, first, does this work for neoprene rubber sheets and second what type of adapted soldering iron tip do you have, is it possible to purchase on the internet?
I don’t think it’s possible with neoprene. I have information about heat sealing irons on the website. I made my own soldering iron tips from copper and aluminum. Cheers
Hi there, can I use this zip on any pack raft material? I have a German Omega C2 pack raft from Anfibio and would like to add two zips. The fabric is called 210 DEN Nylon.
Exactly what I needed to know, great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so match! !!

Yes, it’s possible. The temperature is roughly 200 C (~400 F) so the iron must be able to get at least that hot.

Do you think it would be necessary to add a spraydeck for some relatively small rapids? What else would I need, like a backrest or thigh straps?
For small rapids a spray deck and thigh straps are not necessary. I do recommend adding a back rest. Cheers!
@@DIYPackraft cool, can't wait for my kit to arrive!

I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t tested that particular packraft fabric, but it sounds like a material that would work.
@@DIYPackraft and if you ever come to NZ and feel like going for a trip, email me...I am in Wanaka, adventure paradise...kind of ;-).
Cool! I’ll keep that in mind :D
I wanted to ask if the material on which you are pressing the zipper is TPU or neoprene or other tarpaulin material?
It’s TPU coated fabric.
Wouldn't it be better if the zipper was the other way round, so if you hook it to a tree or something it wouldn't open? Thanks.
Maybe, but the zipper handle would trail in the water so it would be more likely to snag on something.
@@DIYPackraftthank you
Does it work with anfibio rebel 2k?
Yes, it should work.
Is it possible to convert the V3 kit to a self bailer?
Yes - please check www.diypackraft.com/faq
@@DIYPackraft thanks

+1 and subscription, but you cut a lot of pipes fabric. It is in vain.
