Absolutely. Extremely emotional and vulnerable album imo. I grew up with strokes and as I grew I liked all their later stuff. Only children don't like CM
To me this album is top 3 in the strokes discography. I used to put room on fire below it(now i think they're on equal footing). Comedown machine is full of interesting sounds, incredible lyrics and overall surreal experience for me.
It's a beautiful album as a Strokes fan. My issue is my love of Julian as a vocalist. Hearing him hiding behind every instrument is sad considering how beautiful his voice is captured on The New Abnormal.
I agree, but I saw it as so soft and vulnerable in CM. I think it's such a touching album but I agree I'd like a little louder. This is where he really practiced his falsetto and he perfected in for New Abnormal .
comedown machine has an interesting approach and it’s pretty worked out imo, for me first impression of earth and angles are pretty boring cus the way sound these albums are similar to room on fire but just a little bit of different approach, for 3rd and 4th are like they’re doing almost same things. comedown machine is a great album
I love every Strokes album. I kind of worship them, so hard for me to say bad things about them. Still it is maybe my least favourite album with "Angles", where "Under the cover of darkeness" alone increases the album value of many points. Compared to "Angles" I would say this feels more complete. I loved "Chances" and "One way trigger" from the first hearing. The first because I feel it very sad and I enjoyed Julian singing differently than before. The second because it is catchy, so I consider it like a funny joke, it reminds me of pinguin marching and falling 😂. Still lots of songs are not memorable.
Comedown machine hate usually comes from people that were told to hate it by old Strokes "fans" that cant accept change. Anthony fantano for instance. For a long time he was one of those strokes fans that thought everything should sound like the first two albums. And just because the album was made to complete a contract doesn't make it bad.
It was okay. It’s harder for me to understand how people believe it’s their best album. Lot of the sounds flow redundantly and the Eurasian tectonic disco with the silent whispering 80’s lyrics are fun, but underwhelming in context of comparing the rest of their catalog.
Dear Lord those teeth are huge. Anyways, I avoided comedown machine for a decade because of the many friends who told me it was terrible. And they were all wrong and no longer my friends. Without this album we wouldn't have Chances, Welcome to Japan, Tapout, One way trigger and the magnificent CALL IT FATE CALL IT KARMA. So thats the last time ill ever take anyone elses advice on music because i feel like ive been robbed of magnificence the last ten years. 😡 😡 😡
Because they're idiots. Like seriously. They just want everytjing to be as pop punk as possible. I Love their first two albums. They are the best, but CM is INCREDIBLE and DEEP and EMOTIONAL. Only Immature people can't sit through it.
New Abnormal is good but I think it sounds a bit too clean in my opinion. Which isn't a bad thing as it's a new sound for the strokes. But I hope their future stuff isn't TNA continued
Look I’ve tried, but I am one who does not like this LP at all. Julian’s vocals hurt my ears. The chorus of one way trigger makes me deaf. Tap out, partners in crime, slow animals and chances: on those songs he sounds like a poor man’s take that. And songs like all the time and 50/50 are just terrible attempts at returning to their old sound.
Comedown is one of the best of strokes in my opinion
Nice profile pic
One way trigger is an incredible song I wanna burn it onto my skin
The Title song is my favorite strokes song. It's mesmerizing and it never gets old.
comedown is a very mature album, whereas earlier albums are more youthful, nostalgic.

Tap Out 🤤 One Way Trigger 🤤 80's Comedown Machine 🤤 Slow Animals 🤤 Chances 🤤 Call it Fate, Call It Karma 🤤
Happy ending 🤤

IMO it’s their best album. Definitely my favourite

I love this album so much!
For the record, I don't hate this album. I love it actually!
someone spilling facts
beautiful!
Personally my favorite album from them.
Wouldn’t be surprised if CM was just the left over material from Angles just to finish the contract
Juicebox and FIOE :D
Great take
Thank you, I think some moments on this album are criminally underrated!
I LOVE COMEDOWN MACHINE

whenever someone hates on comedown machine i just tell them to try and make something better (they wont and they cant)
Child argument but valid
That's not a very good case
You deserve more subs
“Everyone”

Not perfect better than TNA

It could've been better ngl
For sure, it has its weaker moments and I don't think there's any denying that
so as any other strokes album
