Finally had my maiden on this fabulous Fokker D7. Flew like a trainer - a great big red and white trainer. It has a great presence in the air. Thanks so much for designing and marketing this fantastic model.
I left out the 12 oz pilot, substituted a 1 oz profile pilot and used a DLE 61 with no added weight in the front and got the correct CG. Engineering of the structure is nothing short of brilliant. The only shortcoming is the hard as a rock tires but hopefully the suspension will offset that. The ease of wing installation and removal is the reason I bought this ARF as the BUSA one piece wing will not fit in my truck, even on an angle. Full marks to you guys at Hangar 9 for a fantastic product.
Excellent presentation. Tons of effort has obviously gone into this project. I must say a "ready to cover" version would be just the option that many modelers (including me) would go for so they could truly end up with something unique and scale out at the field. Thanks so much for taking on this impressive project and for posting your discussion.
I would be my h more interested in an almost ready to cover version too! The red an white scheme is beautiful but there are so many cool schemes for this aircraft!
Putting one together now. DLE 55RA. 3 inch DA 50 standoffs plus 5/8" ply spacer. Exhaust through the top. Fits great. About the wheels. They are very nice. Using the brass tube bushing as suggested. Mine came with all markings applied except the skull and crow. Strangely it had a complete set of the same markings as well.
Just got one at the LHS last week. Very impressive for the $$. Going with 62GX. I have wanted a big Fokker DVII ARF for a long time. Saw a real one fly in 1972 at Rheinbeck. It was doing high alpha flight hanging on the prop. Need to clean up the shop before I start on it.
I will be purchasing one next week and I'll be putting in a Mustang 50cc with the built-in remote starter also I'll be using a eagletree stabilizer system and I will put Telemetry to monitor the engine temperature plus the battery voltage looking forward to putting it together and flying it beautiful plane
I am just now putting one together I bought at the LHS in June 2019. Now in Sept 2020 they are on sale for $599! Apparantly it is not popular. I feel bad for the developer. It is a fine ARF. Maybe confusion about what engine to fit. I used a DLE 55 RA with DA 50 3 inch standoffs plus a 5/8 inch wood spacer. You can see pictures at the Jetero RC Club Facebook page.
Hi just purchased this and what a lovely kit , fitting the DLE 61 . Did you use any down or side thrust on your build ? Thanks again great video. Keep up the good work
I love this plane! But, the shiny covering really spoils the scale look. I can see myself stripping the covering and recovering with Oracover and paining with matt paints.
I bought one. Great plane! However an issue with the decals. There is no left/right as a result, the bird (and scull) on the right side are looking backward instead of looking forward as shown on this video (and as it was at the Jasta 18). Is there any way to get proper decals?

It is definitely a gorgeous plane with a lot of different ways you can fly this thing!

If you strip it, be sure to add the scale trailing edge scalloping.
An ALmost ready to cover and maybe...maybe a kit version would also be nice. If some people have the time..why not.
Beautiful kit !!
I would LOVE a link to the prop on this plane

Good question. A glaring oversight to which I have yet to recieve an answer.
