RIP Eaglemoss...feel bad for the any who are now absolutely screwed

They supposedly filed a intent for 'administration', which is basically reorg bankruptcy protection. Anything can happen still, so I am going to just put my build on hold for now and see what comes out of it.

@@MarvelPhx I really hope they are able to satisfy all outstanding obligations. The unfortunate reality, is that unless a very well established, and trusted 3rd party buys them out, I feel that it will be nearly impossible for them to keep enough of an income stream to make it happen.
      -
I have always been extremely leery of these long term subscription models, as they put what I believe is an unacceptable level of risk on the customer. That said, I love the idea of being able to sell large, complex, and in many cases, amazing looking models to people who may otherwise be unable, or just unwilling to afford them; And no, I'm not sure of a better way to accomplish the goals of these kits.
      -
I know I can get my wife to "buy in" to me spending $20 every few weeks with much less effort than asking to spend $2500 all at once...

@@mikethinks I feel there is still a ton of value in all of the design, supply chain, manufacturer deals, licensing, etc. that EM had in place. If one or more of the other partwork companies isn't already involved at this point, I would be very surprised. I imagine finishing the partwork subscriptions would be top on the list. They are a known income stream.

@@MarvelPhx Yeah same here, I’m still hoping someone will help them financially restructure and continue eventually… If not, I’ll probably turn mine into a Generations crash diorama or a spacedock construction diorama or something to that effect.

    Very good for the comparison.
When Eaglemoss sees this (and I'm sure they will) I hope the embarrassment will finally make them realize what a tremendous mistake they made in designing this model.
Those of us who consider ourselves Trekkies were very excited when Eaglemoss released this model, but we never would have imagined how inaccurate it would be.
It is unacceptable what they have done.
I will never buy another partwork model from Eaglemoss.
I must say that your work is inspiring.
    Thank you very much MarvelPhx.

To be fair, the stock model is not terrible. I just wanted to make it better and have it do more than just light up. If Eaglemoss had not released it in the first place, there would be nothing to build at all. I also wanted to try learning new things, such as Arduino, electronics, mobile apps, and sound effects.

    • @eduardoarias2972

@@MarvelPhx I agree with you that the model is not terrible and also that if Eaglemoss had not released it there would be nothing to build.
In any case, a model of this size will be impressive in any collection.
I refer to the expectations created by Eaglemoss with the promises made on their website selling the subscription and they still appear today, and I quote: “ CAREFULLY RESEARCHER. The model is based on a careful study of the original shooting models. The makers of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION actually used three different models of the Enterprise-D, all of which were subtly different. ILM built a six-foot version that could separate, and a less elaborate two-foot version that could be used for more distant shots In TNG's third season, the VFX team built a new four-foot version that was easier to use.
Our model pulls elements from all three of the models and is designed to look as much like the onscreen version as possible.”
      “A CLOSER LOOK..
The model is a 27.5-inch die-cast replica of the Galaxy-class U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D. It is based on careful study of the different studio models that were used in filming, it is designed so the saucer and the stardrive section can separate, and it is packed with working lights. The exterior has all the details you’d expect, including phaser strips, transporter emitters, antimatter loading hatches, and the Captain’s yacht”.
Are we really supposed to believe that they have made a “Carefully Researcher” based on the models used in the filming?
The windows are bad. The navigation lights look like carnival lights, the warp nacelles are bad, no matter how hard one tries it is impossible to solve the light leaks, etc.
Of course any model is improvable, but I feel let down by Eaglemoss for promising things and then not delivering.
You can accept that a model has limitations, but don't tell me that it has been “Carefully Researcher”.
Your work is inspiring and shows a possible way to improve the model and add things that make it "alive".
But it is one thing to improve a model and another to fix the design flaws in the model. This is what has let me down with Eaglemoss.
You are doing an awesome job with Enterprise and I am grateful to you for sharing it, showing the modeling community what is possible.

The bad lighting is why I stopped building mine. The thing that really pisses me off is Eaglemoss doesn't seem to care. When I talked to them about it. it just seemed to go into one ear and out the other. Now I have about a 3rd of the kit just sitting in a box collecting dust.

Now that Eaglemoss has gone bankrupt as of July 16, 2022 the stock unit may be able to be sold to someone needing the aprts to complete thier model to a higher stage. It might even be able to be used to model and manufacture 3Dprinted parts for those who need them.
