Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983) - Movie Review | Most Tragic Movie Ever Made
Twilight Zone: The Movie is a 1983 American science fiction anthology film produced by Steven Spielberg and John Landis. Based on Rod Serling's 1959-1964 television series of the same name, the film features four stories directed by Landis, Spielberg, Joe Dante, and George Miller. Landis' segment is an original story created for the film, while the segments by Spielberg, Dante, and Miller are remakes of episodes from the original series. The film's cast includes Dan Aykroyd, Albert Brooks, Scatman Crothers, John Lithgow, Vic Morrow, and Kathleen Quinlan. Original series cast members Burgess Meredith, Patricia Barry, Peter Brocco, Murray Matheson, Kevin McCarthy, Bill Mumy, and William Schallert also appear in the film, with Meredith assuming Serling's role as narrator.
The film's production achieved notoriety when Morrow and two illegally hired child actors were killed in a helicopter crash during the filming of Landis's segment. The deaths led to several years of legal action; although no individuals were found to be criminally liable, new procedures and safety standards were imposed in the filmmaking industry. Upon release, the film received mixed reviews, with praise directed at Dante and Miller's segments, but criticism towards the segments by Landis and Spielberg. Despite the controversy and mixed reception, it was a commercial success, grossing $42 million on a $10 million budget.

Nightmare in the Sky part was based on an original episode where William Shatner played John Lithgows part. Worth looking up the clip. “There’s something on the wing.. some thing”. Also parodied on Ace Ventura. I need to watch this again.

What a tragedy on set. It’s a quite bold to say that Stephen Spielberg should have been in jail and unfortunate. I may need to watch the doc. I may possibly agree with more information, but hard to imagine not having the monumental Jurassic Park. But justice if fair should be first.

The original Twilight Zone series is so much better than this movie. I watched an episode on shudder covering the incident that happened on set. It was horrific to see how it unfolded.

I love this film, but I think it’s because I grew up on it. If you’re watching it for the first time all the way through as an adult you’re definitely not going to feel the same.

It's a Good Life, Kick the Can and Terror at 20,000 feet were actual stories from the original Twilight Zone show that ran from 1959-1964. The Simpsons also spoofed It's a Good Life and Terror at 20,000 feet (renamed Terror at 5 and a half feet) for their Treehouse of Horror episodes.

I have the novel tie in book, and movie on DVD. Plus, the book on the tragedy.
    Facts:-
*Steven Spielberg fell out with John Landis over the tragedy.
*The ending is clearly a mess because of the tragedy in that segment. Vic Morrow's character was going to be a changed man back in the bar, after the events aka no longer a racist.
*Vic Morrow was the father of Jennifer Jason Leigh.

One of those facts aren't facts. Spielberg falling out with Landis was him trying to distance himself from the tragedy. Most likely not because he felt Landis was to blame. The buck stops with the producer.

@@WolfmansGotNards Possibly both reasons. Him blaming Landis, and to also distance himself from the tragedy.
