Michael Jordan vs Dominique Wilkins - The Greatest & Most Lethal Tactician In NBA History
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 гру 2022
- A significant percentage of Michael Jordan's scoring came in the 2nd half of games. Each game provided different circumstances so Jordan would attack accordingly. Sometimes that required aggressiveness early, but quite often MJ would get his teammates involved for 3 quarters, and take over the game in the 4th quarter.
Michael Jordan was a team player who was attempting to aid in the development of his young teammates Horace Grant & Scottie Pippen.
This is also a great example why stats debates are a humongous waste of time. Statistics carry no context. There's never been anyone more reliable & more clutch in 4th quarters and overtimes, than Jordan. Anyone who WATCHED Jordan, you know. It's easy to be misled with out of context statistics. Statistics are the shortcut to blatantly out of context "hot takes" on social media.
Michael Jordan didn't play for statistics, he played to win, and he was a true tactician on the basketball court. The math in Jordan's statistics should look different to the educated fan. The most important chunk of Jordan's numbers came in crunch time. None of the other greats have or do take over games, the way Jordan consistently did. If that context is ignored in any discussion, is it even a discussion worth having?
As for this Hawks team, this was an attempt at a superteam. Moses Malone is a Hall of Fame legend who took a ton of teams to the playoffs. Reggie Theus was a TV star at the time and a walking bucket. Dominique Wilkins is one of the most underrated All Time Great Hall of Famers, and the most underrated scorer in NBA history. The Hawks role players were explosive as well. This was a TOUGH match-up!
You know who had the toughest match-up? The great Reggie Theus! Michael Jordan put the absolute CLAMPS on Reggie Theus in this ballgame, and held him to just 4 of 15 from the floor.
The Hawks had the Bulls up against the ropes late in the ballgame! Michael Jordan flipped the clutch mode engaged switch! But would it be too late? Enjoy!

Just WOW!!! I grew up without cable and was working with my dad at a home where I could only hear this or a similar Bulls vs Hawks matchup. As a kid, I wanted to run in that house, pull up a chair and watch the game. Many years have passed, and I get to take a trip down memory lane and do what I couldn't do then, in the comfort of my own home. Thank you🙏🙏🙏
47:54- MJ just lets the clock ⌚ tick down.. gives the ball a lil back spin, gets loose with a little dance, shakes and bakes, between the legs... Foul line jumper... BANG!!! So Sweet.
“No rookie can replace me.” Famous last words (in Chicago)
Jesus.. the Hawks had Doc Rivers, Reggie Theus, Dominique Wilkins, Spud Webb, Moses Malone, Antwoine Carr- and they got Kevin Willis later....plus others!! It's kinda crazy they never made it to the eastern conference finals!! Not even once. Wow.
Yep, that team was loaded
@@ChrisSr84 Which I never realized in the past.

Everybody else was hyped for Jordan vs Nique. Jordan was hyped more for Theus. MJ never forgets lol
Theus didn't play in this game.
It seems like this is one of their early attempts at implementing the triangle offense. They were doing it in a way that took Jordan out of the offense too much on this night. You can see they abandoned the triangle with Pippen as the primary ball handler at the end of the game, this change put the ball directly in Jordan’s hands and allowed him to take over. I can see why Doug Collins would not be interested in using the triangle.
My thoughts exactly. This whole game seemed to be MJ's attempt to concentrate on facilitating and getting others involved until crunch time.
Jordan foaming at the mouth that's a beast.
Awesome
Entry pass Pip was getting abused by Nique..even with help.
He did it to EVERYONE. First ballot Hall of Fame , not a revelation.
@@gabeeskridge8291Yeah today they say MJ was nothing without pip but those of us who watched the game knew pip was not a top 5 player then😊
Nobody could really guard Nique one on one back then. They showed the graphic where Dominique and Jordan had all of the TOP TEN individual scoring performances in the NBA. Dominique had the top 3.
hell of game...
Goat was on the cusp of a triple double.
Interesting to hear the announcer saying rumors are that Phil Jackson may be the next Indiana Pacers coach. Of course Phil would be the next Chicago head coach after Doug Collins.
It was! Also, he was rumored to take over the Knicks when Rick Patino left after the season. Just imagine….
How is Scotty top 50 and Dominique isnt
Because Pip played with Jordan and Nique did not. Nique was far better than Pip.
Doug is HOF coach I dont give s damn what anybody say.
Don't let the facts get in the way of a good story.
Hell no, he was a give the ball to Jordan and get out of the way coach
