Man, look at that Bulls starting lineup and look how many open shots they missed. Other than Oakley, who was just a rebounder, the two rookies, Pippen and Grant, came in and played with more heart. Hearn, "Pippen will need to work on his defense, he got beat by Worthy and Green multiple times" oh yeah, but according Pippen nowadays he was setting the league on fire his first year (8th on the team was killing it). They had lost to the Lakers in LA 2 months ago, Jordan had 39 (only 3 others had more than 8). Here he had 38pts, 9rebs, 7asts, 3stls, but 5 others had double digits to help, funny how when folks hit open shots how that works.
Notice when they mentioned the average salaries of the NBA All-Stars, it was $1.3m. Also notice they talked about MJ playing 40 minutes per and Magic wanting to play because people paid their money to see him play. Those are the differences between the NBA then and today.
Meh - there's nothing wrong with people making as much as they can make. They simply choose not to care today. Real competitors would be going at it, no matter how much they made.
People wonder why Michael couldn't beat teams like the Celtics or Lakers in the 80's? Just take a look at what Michael had to work with Phil Sellers, Dave Corzine, Sam Vincent as starters. I'd be taking most of the shots too if i had talent like that to work with.

The GOAT of teams! People don't realize the context of many of these videos. Especially in the winter months, the season drags on especially on the road. As champions, EVERY team is getting up for you and the arenas will feel like the playoffs on almost every night. Its not an excuse for the loss of course, but it's not like anyone is circling their date on the calendar when playing the Bulls those years. Riley will even do his rotations different.
I attended this game with my father!! Even had Magic Johnson continued to play, the Lakers weren't going to beat DA BULLS!! DA BULLS beat the World Champion Lakers 128-107.
And u hear the announcers saying over and over again things like ‘no harm no foul’...’no blood,no ambulance,no foul’ after dudes were getting knocked to the floor or hacked near the rim and the refs didn't call fouls on those plays. It’s just a completely dif game.
Magic had a Ten's unit for his leg for electro stimulation, chick says he is heating it LOL . Last thing you want to do on an immediate injury is heat . Love Chick ..
I literally can’t and don’t watch todays fake 3,point shooting contest and that includes guys over seven feet tall with no post moves whatsoever But I thoroughly enjoy the vids Real nba basketball played by the greatest pro ball players ever The guys from the 60’s thru the 90’s would wipe the floor with todays weak Betamale no defense playing so called nba players and that includes steph curry and lebron James
Listening to commentators call the game as if it was on radio is a treat to hear again. Today's announcers talk about nonsense whilst the game plays on in the background.
This Honestly Makes me Think of Just HOW GREAT DETROIT WAS BACK IN 88 89 90!!! I love how Detroit fans assume that if they won in 88, it's a given they'd win in 89 and 90. It would've changed the trajectory of both the Lakers and Pistons. Lakers likely would've came back hungrier or even more retooled and that might have meant they win in 89 or 90. Also changes the hunger of Detroit and their need to trade Dantley. The offense flowed better with Aguirre.
“No harm, no foul, no blood, no ambulance.” Gotta love Chick Hearn 😊
In todays sissified NBA, he would get a technical and flagrant foul as commentator for just saying that.
Yeah. Do that in today's game and it makes headlines. Half of the players would get "cancelled"
@@donjuanismo The Rainbow community would say he was a misogynist.
"Jordan has every shot in the book and he has shots that are NOT in the book" - Chick Hearn LOL..RIP!

Dave Corzine Crawled so Bill Cartwright could run...
This was prime MJ!
Thank you...this is Platinum classic!

March 10, 1988. Soon to be 35 years. Remember watching this live in second grade.
My Showtime Lakers..lights, camera, action the repeat season

This 80s Lakers team was a juggernaut
It is such a treat to here Chick announce the game!
Miss him. Miss those days and the announcers. Seems like yesterday almost but i know its not. RIP Chick.
I attended this game with my father!! Even had Magic Johnson continued to play, the Lakers weren't going to beat DA BULLS!! DA BULLS beat the World Champion Lakers 128-107.
Really love watching how easily Jordan can go to his left. Almost impossible to cover the guy 1 v 1.
Best basketball player to ever exist.
With Magic, Kareem and Jordan playing … that’s a safe statement to make.
This match took place on March 10, 1988.
Love those comments on why magic played hurt that night! Only plays there once a year...owes it to the fans!!!
And u hear the announcers saying over and over again things like ‘no harm no foul’...’no blood,no ambulance,no foul’ after dudes were getting knocked to the floor or hacked near the rim and the refs didn't call fouls on those plays.

@@redtesta good catch. Kids these days don't realize how primitive training was back then. But do remember Magic always having ice on his knees.
He said the average all star player makes a little over 1M, now it's gotta be around 20M

yeah, if it wasn't for them. They wouldn't be making 20M before tax
With inflation, it is equal to about 9-11 million those days.
Flashes of great play by Horace Grant. Totally under-appreciated player on the first bulls 3 peat.
Great channel.
28:30. I rewound it 5 times, I still don't believe it.
Listening to commentators call the game as if it was on radio is a treat to hear again. Today's announcers talk about nonsense whilst the game plays on in the background.
Magic couldn't show up. He took a sudden trip- on flight 23!! ✈ ✈
At this time, Grant was more coveted than Pippen.
Grant ended up being a very good player, but Pippen went on to be an all-time great.
What Year was this VIDEO?

How lucky were the Pistons that Magic got injured in the 89 Finals in Game 1, forcing him to watch 2 full games series from the bench?
Easy to forget how big Magic was. He towers over MJ.
