Excellent video! These type of videos are great for us to maintain our cars without first having to drop $$$ at the mech shop! My car is ridding rough, so I'll jump in and do some cleaning. If the problem persists, then I'll take it to my local Mechanic! Thanks again!!!
Elio Camey thanks for the comment! do you have a rougher idle when the engine is cold? cleaning the TB did not help but changing the engine mounts and transmission mounts was day and night for me! consider that if your mounts have never been changed.
Ste .L motor mounts were changed under the recall & extended warranty claim back in 2007. Going to do the following in order: 1.inspect & replace air filter 2.replace spark plugs 3. clean TB. If problem persists, then I'll move to motor mounts. Thanks again for the advice and video! I've been able to do a lot of work on my car thanks to these videos, saving me $$$!
Ste .L well, changing the filter has already shown a difference...now off to changing the spark plugs! Maybe I won't need to touch the TB after all. Anyhow, many thanks for the video and comments. They help build confidence in us DIYers!
Finally got around to doing this yesterday. Although I haven't really noticed anything to bad regarding performance I thought I'd give it a go. (seemed like something a weekend warrior could try). Was really surprised by how dirty it was and the valve actually looked like it was stuck open. I've seem a couple of different ones and given that this one is electronic I didn't push on it or try and get it to move. I got a lot of gunk out. Of course after doing this you pray that the Car starts and it did first go and at idle it is like chalk and cheese compared to before the maintenance. Really glab you took the time to show the Video. Am hitting the MAF Sensor next
yes,I never saw it or expected it, so I cleaned out the throttle body and put it back on with out ever knowing about the gasket, so I spent 2 weeks trying to figure out where I went wrong. well the mechanic charged me $250 bux to tell me:( but nonetheless the video is informative and my C230 is running alot better!!
also, if you clean out your throttle body and its starts surging at idle, double check that you plugged your sensors back in correctly. and if its still surging at idle, theres a good chance you got some cleaning solvent in the throttle body circuit board and desolved the epoxy that holds it in place. The curcuit board is in the black box with the I believe 5 clips. undo your clips check that the board isnt loose, is so- line it back up best as possible and epoxy it back in place...it will at least get you going till you get a replacement one.
the supercharger valve is contained within the supercharger unit. The valve you see in the video is the last mechanical valve before the manifold and intake valves.
Great video thanks. By accelerating the hose went out and the engine light shined. My car has no power. What could be the reason that by pressing the gas pedal the hose went out from the trothle body? Can anybody help? Thanks
Hi Ste.L You are very right. Your video shows the correct location of the throttle body. There is an elbow duct downstream of the MAF sensor, as shown in your other video. My W204 / C180K is very similar to what you have shown. I had the throttle valve cleaned up internally as far as I could go. However, I am still experiencing a slight hunting of the RPM needle at idle/neutral gear. Any further advice would be appreciated. I have previous experience on my Citroen Xantia and Opel Zafira. Merry Christmas.
+Ronnie Tan Yea, my idle hunts as well but i have a few CELs (P0170, P0173, P0456). The first 2 are for fuel trims. Do you also have trim issues or do you only have an unstable idle?
So far no codes displayed. just slight hunting of rpm needle at idle selection. Will find time to remove the air filter housing to inspect vacuum hoses beneath.
Hello, On my C180k, the tube that fits into the throttle valve jumped catastrophically at 5500 rpm because the clamp broke... :/ Unfortunately it caused damage to some part. Engine fails at cold idle and cold throttle. When it warms up it improves, but it continues to fail when I press the accelerator lightly. There is no loss of power at "full power" acceleration. What's your opinion? What could be damaged when the tube came loose? Tks for help me
Hi, so I just got a c230 2002 and I went to autozone and I got a code. The code is P0243. It's telling me it's the solenoid. I want to make sure. Do you suggest buying a new solenoid and cleaning out the throttle body orrrrr just buy a new throttle body? I need your help. Thank you in advance!
Yes sir, can you plz help me out with my problem, I had 2009model c200 kompresor, and had troble code p0045, its say supercharger boost control solenoid circuit A open, where can I find the boost control solenoid circuit A open, tnx
great video, But you completely failed failed to mention that theres a small rubber band looking gasket/seal..if your not careful you loose it like I did and end up paying a mechanic to tell you you forgot to put the gasket back on.
+Carlos De Leon You're right. There is a orange gasket that sits on the manifold right where the TB meets the manifold. I'm surprised you didn't see it fall off when you took the TB off, the seal is bright orange and 3-4" in diameter. I'll make a comment on the video.
Guys I need help. I got a Merc 220 w203 2005, It won't go more than 3000 rpm and when we scan on computer it shows throttle position. What should I do ?
I have a '99 c230 kompressor that I want to clean the throttle body on. I bought the spray but it says not to use it on a supercharger. why? ur doing it. why is it OK for you to do it? is it because u completely removed it from the car? please help. thanks.
Have 05 c230 K. Lost the quick acceleration on the supercharge when push on the gas paddle. picks up very slowly. engine light is on. When turns on the AC the engine gets loud the idle fluctuates up and down like going to die. I want to know what is the main issue? Could it be the Throttle???
Read my comment to your reply in my other video. I suggest buying a good used throttle body and doing the swap yourself. You'll save $900. A lot of fully functional throttle bodies on ebay, I sold my spare one for $70 on ebay.
Hey, that is not the throttle body!!! Its a vlv related to the turbocharger air duct. The Throttle Body is located downstream of the air filter box and MAF sensor. Pls produce another video.
I have the Mercedes WIS and EPC, both point to the unit you see in the video as the throttle body. the only other valve plate is the one located in the supercharger that prevents excessive pressure build up during sudden release of throttle.

Nice vid, very helpful, what cleaner did you use..??
Cheers
Thank you, I used CRC throttle body cleaner.
A++ Great Job
Thank You

Fyi this is the throttle body, not the supercharger
Does the c230 have two throttle body ?
just one
Do you need to replace the TB gasket?
Nope, the material was holding up pretty well.
