I liked your Art 105 macro review. Portraits landscapes and closeups is why I’m interested in this versatile and very sharp optic. I would like to hear about the color rendering especially of skin tone
I have a Sony 90mm 2.8 macro lens on my Sony a7Riii for portrait and macro. So, I'm set for that focal length, it's a great lens. But, I do have a Sigma 14-24 Ultrawide lens which I think is fantastic! I'm a fan of Sigma!
Those images have the same ‘look’ as the legendary Nikkor 105mm f2.5 AIs lens, especially in how well it splits between sharp focus and the background. Plus it’s a macro. It will be fun to see how it handles backlighting and portraiture. It’s not got as much ”pop” as a Zeiss, but for many that was too much anyway. I suspect this lens could make L-mount Panasonic users very happy.
I got this lens for my A7R3 when it came out. I enjoy the lens, I enjoy macro, but my experience has been slightly different. I don't notice any real noise from the focus motor, but focusing is very sluggish. I suppose it could be a product of the sigma lottery, and it's just my copy, though. But since I mainly use it for in-studio macro shots or portraits that don't require a lot of speed, it's still a very good lens. My only large complaint, when I was deciding between this and the sony 90mm G macro is the linear focus on the sony, vs the fly by wire on the sigma. It's a lot harder to get consistent micro-adjustments when you're taking a picture of an insect or something.
This looks like a winner to me. The past year I've been shooting some macro and a lot of portraits with the Sony 90mm f2.8, really loved that lens. I am a big fan of dramatically sharp portraits. I can see me loving this one as well for the same reason. However, recently I bought the Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 to get some more flexibility. Time will tell. I'd love to give the 105mm a try at some point.
For macro I get better results from manual focus especially with the aids of focus peaking and zoom magnification features on both my Z6 and Leica SL-2S. For that reason I am staying with my Zeiss Milvus 100M/2. I have tried other AF macro lens but didn't like them so I sold and bought again the Zeiss. Nice review of the lens however. I do own the Sigma DG DN L-mount 14-24mm zoom and love it.
Do you think this lens will be able to copy slides with the use of a light table, would rather use this option than an expensive scanner that has a single use, I can use macro going forward but also hopefully be able to transfer my old slides into RAW files?

It will work fine as it does 1:1 macro (35mm film frame is the same size as the camera sensor).
Great and Thanks for this video. This one looks much more interesting than the 70 macro (I guess it's 70 but I'm not sure)... Anyhow, I might be interested in it and mostly with my S1R.
I'm interested in getting into macro. I have a question that's probably going to sound stupid however, How do I know when I'm shooting macro or 1:1 with this lens? Is it automatic just by focusing close to something?
Super lens... Most direct way to take advantage of today's camera capabilities... Mirrorless "what you see is what you get performance"... no extra tubes, extensions, lenses to get to one-to-one and performance is great all through the range. Have had mine for a couple months now.
Got rid of my Leicaflex bellows, SL adapter and Elmarit Macro lens... This is so much sharper and easier to work. also have the Sigma 100-400 L... it is marvelous... just ordered the contemporary f/2 35mm L.. should be shipping any day now
Question: I want to take a picture of a gate but want bokeh behind it so all that is in focus is the gate and ornaments on the gate. Would this be the lens to use? For that kind of narrow depth of field?
Thanks! Audio is tough so I appreciate the compliment. I use a Sony lavaliere mic and a Zoom H4n recorder (neither versions are produced anymore) and I process my sound through Audacity. :)
It is weather-sealed. If you watch the video, you see I had it out in some serious snow! There is an older version of the lens in F mount but this version is E and L only. :)

Have one for my SL2. Great piece of glass. Worth every cent.
Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Macro with a Nikon D850 is my go-to macro set up. It's sharp enough to make Hattori Hanzo blush.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you for the great overview! Nicely done, as always.

Excuse me but at 2:15 what kind of printer is that...cause I'm looking for one that has nice Details and cool prints.
Great, detailed review in a compact time frame. Thanks.

Great review. I like the channel name change too 👌👌👌
Thanks!
I sure wish they worked on a Nikon Z mount lens.
And RF mount would be nice too
Which mic do you use? The sound is very very clean.

Hoping Sigma starts making lenses for Fuji X mount someday soon.
I see that comment frequently. Actually, for all of the mounts! These new Sigma lenses are amazing!
"With mirrorless still being a bit of a "nitch" at that point. The word is actually pronounced "Neash", like leash. Just an FYI.:)

Is there a F mount version? Is this lens weather sealed?

I purchased this Lens it’s awesome love it inspired me to shoot more 📸
That's amazing! :)
Does it work for a7rii
It does! You would need the E mount version... amzn.to/3c3WwJw
😍
Sigma in roll of lot updates
They are and I'm loving it!
This whole video has almost nothing to do with the sony macro lens and the image samples are terrible...
"nitch"
If you leave your husband I will leave my wife. Just saying. Great review.
