  • The High Elbow Catch in Swimming
The high elbow catch is a vital technique used in freestyle to increase the propulsive phase of the stroke and decrease drag. But if you are sprinting, you should use a straight arm freestyle because it is faster and has way more power.

The only problem I’ve noticed with the windmill strategy is when your using that much energy, you can get tired pretty quickly, although it’s a good stroke for something like a 100-200, I personally would do my stroke a bit faster paced for anything under a 100, and have a fast paced stroke, but keep it easy for anything longer than a 200

And… you mess up your shoulder too
      Plus with a 200 tempo
Your body would bounce up and down instead of going forward
Windmill is great for short sprints

It's a 50m free stroke. No more than that.

      No, not a good stroke for a 100-200. It's for a 50.
